Wow I know Mark Reynolds was as big a power hitter as there was in the majors last year but i think 92 power vs righties and 96 power vs lefties is a bit much. Unless they aren't using career splits for him.

Re: MLB '10: The Show Top 5 Third Baseman
I agree with Arod being overrated. His power numbers have been decreasing the past 2 years. His slg went down 100 points and his OPS even 130 compared to his (monster) 2007. Although I don't think it's important his avg also went down.So his contact numbers appear too high to me.
Fielding wise he has been a negative defender the past 2 years.
He is still a great hitter but his injuries have slowed him down considerably and I don't think he is the clear cut best 3B in baseball. But I won't argue that.
Wow, are you serious? ARod had one of the best single seasons for a Yankee in 2007. 54 HR's, 155 RBI's. That is top 5 for a single season. Up there with Maris, Mantle, Ruth, DiMaggio and Gehrig. Do you have any clue how hard it is to duplicate that kind of season? Of course his OPS and Slugging were going to drop.
Arod 1996 OPS 1.046 20 years old
Arod 1997 OPS .846 21 years old
Arod 2003 OPS .995 27
Arod 2004 OPS .888 28
Arod 2005 OPS 1.031
Arod 2006 OPS .914
Arod 2007 OPS 1.067
Arod had 30 Homeruns, 100 RBI's in 120 games last year. Should I mention that he was still playing injured the first 40 games back? Should I mention that the hip injury cut down on his doubles last year since he didn't want to push the running?
Longoria played over 30 more games and only had 3 more homeruns and 13 more rbi's.
Should I mention that an injured Arod had a .933 OPS compared to Longoria's .889??
You look at stats as being black and white but damn if you go into the shades of grey and why they were what they were. A 33 year old coming off of a major injury and putting up a better season compared to a 23 year old.Comment

Re: MLB '10: The Show Top 5 Third Baseman
Arod has hit .277, .263 and .272 the last three years against left handed pitchers. How in the world does that translate to a 94 contact rating against left handers? There is no statistically basis for that rating whatsoever.
His contact ratings are similar to Pujols, when Pujols has a significantly higher average against left and right handed pitchers the last three years.
SCEA may need to take a look at the formulas they use because some of these ratings don't make any sense if they are based on the last three years with the most recent weighing significantly more.
Edit: His career average against left handers is only .295 as well.Comment

Re: MLB '10: The Show Top 5 Third Baseman
Btw, to the earlier poster....I disagreed, I thought Arod's power numbers would be much better than Pujols but apparently I'm wrong take a look:
Pujols AB per HR
09: 12.1
08: 14.2
07: 17.7
Arod AB per HR
09: 14.8
08: 14.6
07: 10.8Comment

I doubt the ratings formulas figure in injuries.

I wasn't talking about the ratings. A Poster knocked Arod because of his OPS compared to 2007. My point was that 2007 was an all time great year that is hard to match. My other point was that ARod had a great OPS last year playing with a bad hip for a majority of the season. It's hard to turn singles into doubles when you can barely run. That leads to a lower slugging.Comment

But, do you think he will be able to duplicate 2007 anytime again in his career? I don't, but his ratings look just like that.
I don't have a problem with Arod being the best 3B ingame, but I have a problem with 2007 Arod being in The Show '10Comment
