That does not matter, the issue is relating to the PS3's internal clock with the CMOS, not the software clock.

This whole ordeal reminds me of Y2K and 2012. Nothing happened during Y2K, and nothing will happen in 2012. Yet everyone freaks out and makes a huge deal out of nothing. Wait a few hours and you'll play your beloved PS3 just fine.

I am by no means an expert, but outside of frustration, I highly doubt anything is going to physically happen to your PS3 (internal or external) that has severe or long-lasting effects because of this.

If so, Sony is going to have quite a bit of PS3s to give out...because this is THEIR problem, not ours.

My 2 cents from a developer's view. They are likely looking into if it will fix itself once March 2nd arives, if it will reset itself. If I were them I would hope this would be the case because a firmware fix and update would likely take a few days to prepare/test and distribute.

Could you only imagen if y2k computer crash actual happened 10 yrs ago based on our reaction to the PS3 not working. I also just heard that only the 80 gig models - cechol, are the ones that work.

I haven't tried playing any game yet, but if it's not fixed by tomorrow morning when I get The Show I'll try to play. As far as a fix, yes, I think we'll have to play the waiting game (unless they've really pinpointed the problem, but I don't know how much time it would take them to release an update).

agreed. While inconvient, the "reset itself" approach is the easiest. Sure people are without their system for a majority of the day, but having to wait for a firmware update would be much worse.

What happens to all those people that don't have the internet (obviously they won't be reading this thread!) and don't know anything about this so called melt down!! How can not being able to sync to your trophies or sign into the PSN incapacitate your system.

I was on the PS3 forums trying to gather info, and wow what a mess of $@*& it is over there. There are like 50 posts of the some thing, with no real info. I have gotten more valuable info here. Thanks to everyone.

Apparently the Show 10 will work even if you have the bug. With that being said, I keep seeing people say, I'm not turning on my PS3 so I wont get the bug, however if you were going to get it, its already happend, not turning it on dosnt make a difference.

Sony stated that people shouldn't turn their consoles on if they haven't received the error message.

It's a conspiracy to force us MLB 10 fanatics (and yes, we ARE fanatics) to pony up for a PS3 Slim. I jest. Well kinda, since I actually considered buying the slim if it still doesn't work on Monday.

I bet we couldn't find one if we wanted to do that. They are already having trouble meeting demand as it is...

I think there is a fear that the risk of corrupted data increases. You could take the risk and end up not having any problems with data being corrupted but as some have reported, they have lost some stuff.
