    Exhibition game

How did it happen or what did you do to trigger it? Can you recreate it?

After selecting the teams (Reds at Pirates) I selected "Night" from the game/weather menu. However, the game ends up being played during the day, with clear skies.

It can easily be reproduced. However, I did not try it with different visiting teams, just Reds @ Pirates -- at PNC park.

How often can the bug be reproduced?

    Every time.
Did you play through the ENTIRE game & in the 9th inning it was still day?
I am testing it out as I type this. I am using the exact configuration you describe above. The lights are on in the stadium so it is clearly not a day game so far. The shadows cover the entire infield & right field too..

Now it is the second inning & there is no sunshine reflected off the field.

It is now the third inning. The skies are definitely quite darker. It is kind of twilight now. The stadium lights are brighter.

It is now the fourth inning. The skies are quite dark now. It is clearly night.

Firstly, let me say, this is not a bug. You probably did not actually play the game, but saw the start to look as a day game. In truth almost all night games start when it is still day because night games usually start at about 7 pm when it is still light outside.

Just as an experiment I suggest you actually watch tonight's Cincinnati verses Pittsburgh game that is being played tonight for real at PNC park. Take a look at the start of the actual game at approximitely 7:05 pm & tell me if the sky is dark yet. You will find that it is not. So too in the game.

As I said, this is not a bug at all.

I'm closing a game in the ninth inning, there are runners on first and second and two outs (two strikes as well). I throw a nice low fastball that's chopped right up the third base line for my catcher to pick up and fire to first in time. However my first baseman has zero intention to step on the bag, though he was right next to it the entire time. He tries to at the very last second, but to no avail as the runner already beats it out.

I did a check swing and it went to the umpire for an appeal. The umpire ruled it was a strikeout so the batter walked to the dugout. While showing the dugout animation, it cut to the umpire again and the umpire ruled he didn't go around. It still went on as if the guy struck out so it was no big deal.

My first time seeing this in maybe 50 games I have played so far, so I can't recreate it.

How often can the bug be reproduced? Only seen it once so far.

It happens to me quite a few times with left handed batters on fast play. Not that big of a deal because each time I knew I committed.

When a runner (not me) is injured while going into 2nd base, not sure whether it's from sliding or just running, when he kneels down in pain and I try to skip the simulation of it, the game freezes right when the screen tries to change. I noticed this happening in 09 also, although not every time.

How often can the bug be reproduced?
Has happened all 3 times someone has been injured at 2nd base.

I am in the field, cpu has man on 1st and 3rd. nobody out.

cpu hits line shot that strikes runner in head between 1st and 2nd and bounces back towards my pitcher.

cpu runner continues safely onto second, runner on third scores, and the batter also reaches first safely.

                -----------------------------

Have had this happen several times. A runner in fair territory struck with a batted ball is to be ruled out according to the rules.

Make sure you know this rule correctly. If the ball passes an infielder that is not the pitcher, and it strikes a baserunner without intent of obstructing the ball while no other infielder has another chance of making a play on it, is not out by rule.

So if the first baseman is playing in front of the bag and there is a sharp ground ball hit to his right where he can't field it, but the runner going from first to second is hit by the ball while advancing and the second baseman was pinching up the middle in double play depth, the ball is live and the runner is still safe.

                  EDIT: Here's the rule.

Coverage includes audio and video clips, interviews, statistics, schedules and exclusive stories.

7.09 It is interference by a batter or a runner when—

                  (k) A fair ball touches him on fair territory before touching a fielder. If a fair ball goes through, or by, an infielder, and touches a runner immediately back of him, or touches the runner after having been deflected by a fielder, the umpire shall not declare the runner out for being touched by a batted ball. In making such decision the umpire must be convinced that the ball passed through, or by, the fielder, and that no other infielder had the chance to make a play on the ball. If, in the judgment of the umpire, the runner deliberately and intentionally kicks such a batted ball on which the infielder has missed a play, then the runner shall be called out for interference.

PENALTY FOR INTERFERENCE: The runner is out and the ball is dead.

While you are right about the rule and correct to point it out, I've seen the ball hit the runner twice when he was in front of a fielder with no out called. It's pretty clearly a mistake in the game and was probably the result of adding the collision detection for when the ball hits the pitcher. My guess is that they couldn't differentiate between the ball hitting the pitcher and the ball hitting anyone else on the field, so they just decided to always rule it a hit.

Gotcha, then you're correct that this is a bug (or lack of correct programming for the sake of the actual ruling). The ball should be dead, the runner should be out, and the batter-runner should be credited with a hit. I just wanted to make sure that it wasn't that kind of situation if in the event that they actually did have the rule programmed in the right way, which must be tough to do.

I figured they would have had this one in, though I haven't ever had to witness this in a game yet (nor have I seen a runner leap over the ball yet either).

has anyone had a problem where a game has been "skipped" off their schedule? I had one in my Yankees 'chise. On the 30th of April i played a game against the White sox and then saved it and left my franchise to do RTTS. I cam back to find that the game was gone and Andy Pettitte's start was skipped. My players stats are weird as well. It says that i have played 24 games on the standings but i have only played 23. It's like the game just disappeared.

If you have autosave on, turn it off. After a game, sim ahead to the next day and save.

No need to be insulting. I'm did play through the game, I'm fully aware of MLB game start times, and I know when the sun sets. Two issues:

                              1) Of course, even then, the sunset changes dramatically throughout the season. In April/September, the sun sets in Minneapolis around 8pm, compared to 9pm in June/July. If SECA is using actual sun patterns based on game start times, season, and longitude, the least they could do is provide the actual start times instead of vague language and pictures that may or may not prove accurate.

                              2) It was bright daylight and clear skies throughout the game. It did not start in early evening and progress in to night. The lights were never on. There were no shadows. It played completely as a day game.

I'm sorry that you could not reproduce the bug I experienced, but I suggest you make fewer assumptions and try and be a little bit less condescending in the future.
