Re: Would you like to see new or/both analog options for gameplay in MLB '11?
I prefer classic controls anyway. I dont think user skill has much of a place in a SIM, so I'd like it to be mostly ratings based. High Heat had a slider to adjust whether it was more sim (rating based), or more user skill/timing based. I prefer to find a nice balance. If it is 100% rating based, why play? However, if it's all user skill it's no longer really a sim. No matter what you do/add, just dont get rid of classic controls.Comment

My Opinion:
Analog Stick Control for pitching and hitting is clunky and messy. Give me the current button pressing system and leave me in peace.
So no, I don't want Analog Controls.Comment

Re: Would you like to see new or/both analog options for gameplay in MLB '11?
Yes, BUT it is easy to over-do the analog controls (seen in previous baseball games).
What should stay:
-Initiation of swing: For those of use that play on realistic pitch speeds, the window of opportunity to swing/not swing is too small to flip around joysticks. IMO, X is the best option for swinging.
-Pitch Meter: If there was a way to incorporate analog into the Pitch Meter, that would be great. There still needs to be a struggle to maintain control and consistency, not just a pull back-push forward motion. Gets SOOOO boring. Overall, the pitch meter is awesome, especially with the ability to miss high/low based on your errors. That might be hard to duplicate with analog
What should Go Analog (or More Analog than it already is):
-The hitters contact region needs to NOT ONLY be controlled by the L Stick but also with the R Stick. R Stick should rotate the Contact Region in a 3-Dimensional Manner (similar to ASB) instead of just a blind flick-of-the-stick.
-BASERUNNING BASERUNNING BASERUNNING! Runners should control their running lines (ie rounding bases, etc) with L stick, not just forward and backward. R stick should ccontrol camera viewComment

You already know what it is, I'm on the Rock and Fire bandwagon, it is as natural as it comes to pitching. The Right stick in this system mimics the arm.Last edited by backbreaker; 04-04-2010, 05:12 PM.Comment

Absolutely. This is 2010, analog pitching/hitting should be a must.
Make it happen.

Re: Would you like to see new or/both analog options for gameplay in MLB '11?
I would like to see a pitching interface akin to hot shots golf where it's basically the same meter system we currently have but the meter itself is invisible. You would set velocity by the leg kick and then press X at the pitch's release point to set accuracy. It would go completely off visual cues by looking at the pitcher's animation. Since you wouldn't be able to see the sweet spot, it would pitch much more realistically. I don't think this would be hard to implement as the foundation is already there. The current meter system would just be tuned and tweaked a bit.Comment

Re: Would you like to see new or/both analog options for gameplay in MLB '11?
It scares me to say yes, because the game is so good as it is but... YES.
I think analog pitching is brilliant. Hitting your motion simulates the struggle to be consistent as a pitcher.
But here's the thing. I feel analog hitting COULD be good, but everybody hates it because it's not really implemented well in the other game.
I think with SCEA's talent, people could change their tune about analog pitching, if it gives you the right feel and it's implemented correctly. I mean, truly, pushing up on a stick is a similar motion for swingin' the bat. Check swing would have to be very different than the other game, like a slight nudge is a check. Sry to make all these comparisons, it's gotten me in trouble before, but I think it's very relevant to my post.
But MOST IMPORTANT, please give us analog fielding! It just feels right! The force of the throw related to how quickly or how hard you move the stick. And given the sensitivity of the analog on PS controllers, this could be gold.Comment

Re: Would you like to see new or/both analog options for gameplay in MLB '11?
No, I don't want to see any new additions until Franchise, Player Potential, Rosters and all things player related are in a "Ready to play out of the box" state.
No new features, just focus on making sure the core of baseball works (franchise). Every SCEA team member working on that. Testing, checking, double testing, doing everything possible to make sure its good to go.
From now until January 2011 all I want to hear from SCEA is that "For MLB 11 The Show we wanted to focus on the Franchise mode and make sure it's ready to go for our Fans because what is a baseball game if our fans can't play and enjoy a franchise with their favorite team"
I'm probably due for a ban at this point, but I am PO'ed right now. Please don't ban me."I am more valuable to my team hitting .330 than swinging for home runs." - Roberto Clemente

I'd love to have a analog for throwing with outfielders and infielders, the MVP series had this and it was great realese to early the ball will be in the dirt and be thrown soft, release to late and its gunna be hard and possibly highPSN - SwangKang169

Re: Would you like to see new or/both analog options for gameplay in MLB '11?
I voted Yes, but mostly for new fielding controls. Fielding is still pretty automatic, especially in RTTS mode. On most plays, you barely need to move your player... sometimes I just won't move him at all just to prove a point to myself. I would love to see fielding in RTTS getting a complete make-over to make it a more interesting part of the game. At this point, RTTS, as a position player, is still really only about hitting and fielding is just a way to get more points to offset failed goals, etc.
If fielding were made more of a challenge, by using the analog sticks, it could make the defensive side of things much more interesting. I'd love to have to control your glove with the right analog stick... stretching out for a play, reaching for one in the dirt from first base, etc. It doesn't have to be overly complex or some 1:1 movement:glove thing, but just something to spice it up.
When it comes to batting, honestly, though, I think pressing the buttons works best. There has never really been a natural swinging mechanic in any game using an analog stick, and there's usually a steep sacrifice for things that you'd normally expect... the other developers still haven't figured out a good way to check swing, and it's an integral part of playing baseball videogames.Comment

Re: Would you like to see new or/both analog options for gameplay in MLB '11?
Honestly i dont care a bit about analog controls for a baseball game. If its created for this franchise, well done, and i hope that those that wanted it really enjoy it. But please, do not destroy CLASSIC button control. IMO its perfect.Originally posted by Russell_SCEAThis is just a discussion its not an indication of anything we are just gathering info at this stage.
Would you like to see new gameplay options for hitting, pitching and fielding for MLB '11? If so why and what would you like to see? Please no smart remarks you want us to take your voices seriously post like it. As always the devil is in the details.
P.S. This will close in about a week and a half

Re: Would you like to see new or/both analog options for gameplay in MLB '11?
I am willing to try an analog control option for pitching, but PLEASE leave the current batting system (with NO icon to aim your swing) in as an option. It's perfect in its simplicity, yet difficult to master.
As a couple of other posters have mentioned, a pitching system similar to the "other game" isn't a bad idea. Allow the user to select the pitch and intended location, then let them execute an analog sequence to determine the actual accuracy.
Thanks SCEA, for another great game this year!!
