The term 30 team control is a bit misleading I believe.
It can mean.....controlling everything for the other teams...or nothing at all. However...
If you start a franchise WITHOUT selecting all 30 teams...you are stuck with whatever happens
If you start a franchise WITH the OLD CPU ROSTER CONTROL(controlling all 30 teams the old way)...you are forced to do everything for each team.
If you start a franchise with the NEW 30 team control....you don't have to do anything for any team but yours. NOTHING......UNLESS...you want to. It also gives you the opportunity to step in to any teams front office(WITHOUT changing anything to manual)...and make a simple or even complex move for them.
    For instance:
You just finished your 2010 season with the Boston Red Sox....you chose 30 team control ...but have all other 29 teams to NO PROFILE and all the GLOBAL OPTIONS set to AUTO. The CPU has been making every decision for every other team all season long. You have done nothing for any team but yours for the entire 2010 season.
You are going through the 15 day exclusive contract period and notice that the Yankees are about to let Mariano Rivera go to the FA market. Yikes....that's not good, right?
Now...you can go to the Yankee manage roster screen and offer Mariano one last contract at ridiculous Yankee money....ensuring that he ends his career as a N.Y. Yankee. Simple.
    30 team control....sweet.
..and imagine this...I didn't have to quit my job to do it!

    Knight,
If I leave injuries on auto will the cpu make realistic moves?
For example if A-Rod sprains his ankle will the cpu Yankees place him on the 15 day disabled list and call up the appropriate replacement.
And when he's healthy again place him back in the lineup?
If not is their away i can make that decision for them after he's been injured?

I used to hate it, but now I love. Everything is set to auto and if a trade happens in real life I can make it happen or if the CPU messes up a lineup or something I can fix it. Epic

I had a 30 team control on but it just got too slow for me. I enjoy simming a season or two to get the prospects up, work in the offseason type stuff. I restarted my franchise and now just control one team and don't really worry about trades. Have seen some crazy trades in real baseball, so no reason they can't happen in MLB 10.

I don't know all 30 teams' lineups, and am not going to Google search every team to find out.

I control one team, (Indians), in season mode, and that's enough for me.

But hey, if you're having fun with 30 team franchise, that's great. Isn't that what gaming's all about?

I can understand some people's excitement over thirty team control, but I just don't see it working for me. If the Yankees let Rivera go this season, I can't stop time and make it work out. That's what I take out of my franchise; people do stupid things IRL.

I just started my first 30 team franchise. I am using the Astros. I'm going to go with manual trades until July so I don't have to monitor the trade wire every couple of games.

Because it's a video game and I'm not that concerned with having accurate CPU rosters and moves.

I'm not Knight, nor am I trying to be, but as a fellow advocate of 30-team franchises, maybe I can help out with these questions.

Knight, do you mean to have control, each team 1) needs assigned a profile, and 2) GLOBAL set to Manual?
Then at the beginning of the franchise, go thru each team and just control what you want with each team?

Yes, I have been confused with 30 team since release day lol
When you start the franchise you have the option of setting a profile to any team you want. and "No Profile" to all the teams you don't want to control. For example, I wanted to control the Mariners and just make sure the other teams didn't do anything ridiculous. So I set my profile to the M's and all other teams were No Profile.

Then under Global Options you can set what you want to control for the CPU teams (Global Options are for the No Profile teams) so if you want to control their Roster Moves, Trades, etc, set those to Manual. R1 over on the Options screen brings you to the options for your profile, where I have everything set to Manual.

Trades with Global options are a bit trickier though, and require a bit more work. If you have Global Options - Trades set to Manual, then YOU make all the trades. CPU will not make any. Set it to Auto and they will trade amongst themselves and offer you trades. So what I do is set Global trades to auto and check the Pending Transactions page for trade offers every couple days. From there you can see any offers the CPU has made and if it's ridiculous (like Mauer being traded) then you can reject it. If not, then you can leave it be and let the CPU decide.

Generally the computer makes a good enough decision. I don't think they put someone on the DL for much longer than need be, but if you think they made the wrong roster move then yes, you can change that and send the wrong guy back down and bring the right guy up to the show. But you won't get a pop-up telling you that someone got hurt unless you're controlling that team. With everything set to auto, they will handle it themselves. This is the one area where I trust the CPU though. I don't trust them with trades and not so much with lineups, so I check those every couple weeks to make sure they make sense.

                      Hope this helps you guys.

i fear i've made a mistake going with the 30 team chise cos now the out of town scoreboards don't work unless you manually sim all of the other games before you start. because the other teams are 'human' the game won't sim those games unless you say to 'sim to date' after the game you've played. I like the oot scoreboard!

Be a dork as myself and view "todays games" and count how many clicks down until you reach your game and simply turn your head and simulate each game using number of clicks. Ive read some guys will throw a blanket over the left side of TV where it indicates the teams logo that won.

haha, that's brilliant! tbh, it's worth the 30 seconds of simming for the ability to see the games play out on the boards! i love this game!

Is there any way to make lineup changes stick? I noticed that the Cards in my franchise have holliday batting second so I changed it and then I look a few weeks later and they have him back in the second hole. Is there any way to make the changes stay?
