The worst baserunning blunder that the CPU does, automatically, is send a runner from third on a ground ball to the 3rd baseman with less than 2 outs. They do it every single time. I have lost many runs that way (either by having him thrown out at the plate or trying to return to 3rd only to have the 3rd baseman run over and tag him out). So far I haven't found a way to stop it.

There used to be a base running aggressiveness slider for the CPU which fixed this problem quite easily. Not sure why it was taken out.The worst baserunning blunder that the CPU does, automatically, is send a runner from third on a ground ball to the 3rd baseman with less than 2 outs. Re: I'm THIS close to snapping this disc in two
Default baserunning is so easy. I started out using classic for the first month I had the game, then played a game online and was forced to learn default. Haven't gone back to classic since.
And I don't think I've ever experienced the double play "glitch" mentioned in here, the only thing I've encountered was when I had runners one 1st and 3rd, 1 out... grounder to short and I try to hit second with Gonzalez himself and then throw to first but he never touched second, just ran over it allowing a run to score and the runner to be safe at 2nd
That was just once thoughComment

Re: I'm THIS close to snapping this disc in two
LMAOOOOOOOOO
I am steaming mad right now, madder than I ever remember being from a video game. I just got swept in a 3 game series each game losing by 1 run. The reason I am so mad is because the first two losses were both because I got screwed by the baserunning controls. And in game 3 I was down 5-2 with 2 outs in the 9th and noone on base and I mounted a rally to send it to extras. Well the CPU has the bases loaded with one out and I get them to hit a perfect double play ball but OF COURSE when it's time for the SS to turn it he just stands there holding the ball and the winning run scores. Sorry, I just had to get this rant out. As fun as this game is, the baserunning controls and glitches are making me mental. For 2017...

It's only a matter of time, I just put a fresh hole in the wall from a thrown controller. It's either going to be from guys not throwing the ball at all or from them taking their sweet time getting to the ball and then taking their sweet time before throwing it.Comment

WOW!
I think you need to find a new game to play or if this is common, a new hobby.

Re: I'm THIS close to snapping this disc in two
That was an accident really, when I throw the controller I always throw it against the floor but this time it flew up and riccocheted off the wall.
I'm just really frustrated because I was cruising along winning left and right, had my record at 44-28 (after a 21-21 start to the season) and now I have lost 7 of my last 8 and am just struggling.Last edited by Maxflier; 08-08-2010, 05:56 PM.Comment

WOW!...with controllers running $50+ dollars a pop for new ones, I get upset/worried when I accidentally drop it or knock it off of something. I couldn't imagine throwing it against floor. That, imo, is just plain silly. That was an accident really, when I throw the controller I always throw it against the floor but this time it flew up and riccocheted off the wall.

Yeah, what a waste. You might as well just pull a few 20's out of your wallet and tear 'em to shreds. I have a designated pillow on my couch that I abuse when ever something in a video game screws me over. Other than my girlfriend thinking less of me there's really no harm in beating that thing up.Now, more than everComment

I'm with you, CB. I cringe every time I have my controller on the arm of the chair and I knock it off onto the floor. I'd never think of throwing one, buying a controller is like buying tires to me - hate doing both.

Yeah I agree, these things cost too much to just be chuckin' em around.
That said, a little game called Demon's Souls gave me a few of these moments - the only game to have done that to me on the PS3.

I'm struggling too, man. In some tight games in my Rays dynasty, playing the Sox and Yanks week in and week out, it seems. I'm starting to hate the AL East.. LOL1925-1926-1930-1934-1941-1961-1964-1965-1973-1978-1979-1992-2009-2011-2012

Re: I'm THIS close to snapping this disc in two
Anytime a video game becomes more frustrating than fun, it's time to take a break.
Happened to me more than once. And I also broke my controller by throwing it down on the floor after leading 8-1 only to have it become a 9-8 loss, in the span of two innings.
Haven't played a game since.....(and that was on Father's Day, lol!)Comment

Re: I'm THIS close to snapping this disc in two
I had back to back games where first the Red Sox and then the Orioles came back from a 7 run deficit to score 8 runs in the bottom of the 8th inning to take the lead and win the game. As my father used to say "it was like deja vu, all over again". Those kind of games are very frustrating simple because they feel preordained. But luckily baseball is a very long season. Besides, a loss is a loss whether they shut me out to win 1-0 or if they jump on the comeback wagon and beat me 9-8. The only difference is that in the 9-8 loss I get some stats padding for my hitters, at my bull pen's expense of course. I ended up batting .402 in that Oriole series (best performance of the season), while having a 7+ era.
As for controllers, I have busted a few PS2 ones, but these new ones are ridiculous in price. I would rather buy tires because at least then I know I am getting something done that I will have to do eventually anyway. Buying a new controller somehow seems to never make it into the budget planning process.Comment
