First of all you could not do this in MVP series

You are incorrect sir. You could indeed argue calls in the MVP series. If you argue too vehemently or too frequently, the manager would get tossed and you lost control of managerial decisions. I remember getting tossed in one game where the bench coach left my closer in the game for 5+ innings when we went to extras. I would have fired my bench coach in real life. In another game (I got tossed a ton in that series), my bench coach subbed in all of my bench players in the ninth inning attempting to get so offense going, but ended up with some terrible defensive positioning as a result. My backup catcher was playing SS while my slowest outfielder took over 2nd base.

First of all, usually when someone says first of all, they have another point to make after the first one. Secondly, you're wrong.

You couldn't be anymore wrong about this.

I used the manager argument feature many times. In fact it was one of the coolest parts about MVP 05. Once your argument was done you would see the cutscene of your players in the dugout and they would be clapping if it was good timing for the argument, but they would be sitting down shaking their heads if it wasn't the correct time for the argument.

The best was the intensity meter though. I will never forget seeing Ron Gardenhire coming out of the dugout and I'd start off by barely tapping the button for intensity. Then I would hit the button really fast and all of a sudden Gardy would absolutely go off on the ump. He would get up in his face and everything. God that was some cool stuff to see. It honestly reminded me of one of his real life arguments.

I remember those clever moves by my bench coach as well. Sometimes late in games if I would get tossed he would just leave my starter in even though he had given up 4 or 5 runs or worse pull him during a shut out.

It was definitely worth it though to see your manager go out and let loose sometimes.

I know you were supposed to be able to get some sort of ratings boost or decrease depending on how your players reacted to the arguing, but I honestly never saw a difference. What arguing the calls did do was give me an outlet to take out my anger on the umps rather than throwing the controller at the wall. That was priceless. Whether I got tossed or not, I could always feel some of my composure coming back to me. And sometimes I just didn't care if I got tossed, just as long as I could get that meter as far into the red as possible and get the angriest toss available. I am pretty sure that I would have broken Cox's record if I had played a couple more seasons.

I played MVP on the PC, and for some reason on the PC version you didn't lose control of your team when the manager was tossed. Larussa got thrown out at least 30 times a season, because I'd argue almost every close call. I really missed that feature in my playoff series this season. At least I got some satisfaction from fouling a ball off the umps head.
