Re: Analogue Hitting+Jim?
good stuff, I will have to see how contact is , most likely for less than 2 outs runner on third trying to hit to the right side of the infield regardless of pitch once 1 strike is on the batter. This balance between normal and power will help a lot also for those of us who know how to work a count and can shrink our hitting zone vs the pitching zone , previous years I always looked at the game giving almost a penality if you swung with contact with the 3-4-5 hitters when up in the count. Now Normal will be more of a line drive going for doubles and the power is when you know a strike has to be thrown with a power guy at the plate. Good stuffComment

Wow this is a tough site. Wasn't Jim kind of a legend around here at one time?
On aside note about zone hitting, are they making the pci in the shape of a bat?Last edited by tvman; 02-19-2011, 05:47 PM.Comment

Re: Analogue Hitting+Jim?
I'm wondering how close this analog hitting control system is to that of MVP 06 NCAA Baseball (for PS2)? I still have the game and wonder if playing it would give me good practice??? And while I'm at, I'm still trying to figure out how to get my rosters with the real player names for that game to work on my backwards-compatible PS3? any ideas? i have .max, .sps, .cbs, AND .psu roster files for this game but can't figure out how to get them to be read by the PS3. And I even have a PS2 memory card converter!!!Comment

Re: Analogue Hitting+Jim?
My biggest concern coming from the MLB The Show team is this penalty for the stride timing I keep hearing about in the videos , the hands staying back and being released when pitch recognition matches up is the most important thing exp down in the count , as players stride is only used so they can get the foundation to plant and turn or fire the hips , they did this in NCAA college baseball and it was horrible as only 1 preset stride was the timing, guys have all kinds of triggers , toe tap , leg kick , leg inward twist , long stride , no stride etc.
Anyone know how you can stride and swing at the same time? the foot must plant before the swing occurs as the weight shift happens. So is 1 analog the stride and the other the swing and direction of the swing ?Comment

Re: Analogue Hitting+Jim?
You simply pull back on the right analog swing to start your stride and push forward when you are ready to swing. You can either push the right stick straight up, up and to the left or right depending on if the pitch is down the middle, inside or outside. You don't have to worry about the height of your swing as this will be determined for you. The key is you can't just pull back to coc k your swing way before the pitch or you will get a huge power and contact penalty. It has to be a fluid motion so you want to pull back just before the pitcher releases the ball. If you've ever played tiger woods golf, same kind of concept, you pull back to start your backwing and then push forward to swing. I'm sure it will take some getting used to in order to nail your timing down, but thats what spring training is for.Comment
