Re: MLB '11: The Show Community Day Gameplay Q&A
Would anyone care to elaborate on the pitcher confidence meter?
I hear it's less touchy and more refined, but I was wondering:
Should I still use the same logic in mound visits (pretty much, a mound visit in 10' did more damage than good if the bar was more than 50% full)?
Any other observations on this would be fantastic.
Honestly, considering the uproar over this several months back (which I personally thought was a bit overblown), I'm surprised to not stumble over any questions about this.Last edited by Heroesandvillains; 01-15-2011, 05:37 PM.Comment

I posted this in the other thread, but wasn't sure if it was the appropriate one, so I figured I'd post it here too:

Re: MLB '11: The Show Community Day Gameplay Q&A
Nice write up - anticipating your pitching and, I'm assuming, fielding writeup.
Very much looking forward to analog hitting. I have a few questions:
Did you have an opportunity to try it with situational hitting - moving runners over, hit and run, etc? Do you feel this provides more control to the user? Were you able to get your timing down so you could manipulate your swing to be early or late, depending on the situation? I'm assuming swinging to the pitch location is even more important to producing hard hits than in recent years. Did you find there is a nice balance between player attitributes and user skill? Why or why not.Comment

Re: MLB '11: The Show Community Day Gameplay Q&A
Just finished reading your batting overview on the other thread Nemesis. To be honest this has me a bit worried. It seems as though the current batting method does not really exist anymore! You either have to choose timing only (which used to only be in Rookie or lower batting mode only) or true zone hitting. Can I not use the same batting mode as last year? I want to still be able to control my hitting zone (PCI) but still be able to make contact if the ball in not in my PCI. It seems as though this option is gone. I do not want timing only or true zone hitting. If the show has removed the old batting method this has my very concerned as I do not think I will be using analog as I have never liked games with analog controls for sports. If you can confirm this Enigma it would be appreciated.Last edited by harvey88; 01-15-2011, 06:09 PM.Comment

There are three options for batting timing only, PCI, and Pure analog. True PCI hitting doesn't kick in until you play on HOF or Legend difficulty the other three difficulty settings have huge PCI's and you don't need to move them to be successful.Comment

Re: MLB '11: The Show Community Day Gameplay Q&A
I just remembered a question I forgot to ask before!
Has anyone noticed with the new custom batting cameras if it's possible to have one for right handed batters and another for left handed batters? What I want to do is have the camera shifted towards the batter to give me a perspective closer to what they actually see. The thought is this may give a more accurate representation of righties seeing the ball better out of a lefty than they would against a righty. The current offset camera is shifted away from the batter and is the exact opposite of what I'm looking for.
EDIT: Whoops, I just realized I posted this in the gameplay thread. If this is considered more of a presentational thing, I apologize.

Pitching, fielding, online, and challenge of the week!
There is room to play so to speak once you get your stride timing down. The contact swing helps a lot in those situations you mentioned. Pitch location is extremely important especially if you are on the higher difficulty levels. You can still have perfect timing and miss the ball because your PCI was not in the correct location. Very challenging and a lot of fun! I thought the mechanic was extremely balanced for a first time effort by SCEA!
Those were not as prevalent at all last year and this new hitting element adds for some great situational hitting!Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

Re: MLB '11: The Show Community Day Gameplay Q&A
In MLB 10 I played on HOF hitting and Pitching. So what you are telling me is that I will no longer be able to play on HOF hitting without true zone hitting? I Do not want true zone, i just want to be able to play with the same hitting as last year on HOF mode. I was under the impression that The Show never removes gameplay features and always gives you the old options if you so desire. Please clarify this for me Russell. Thanks.Comment
