Re: MLB '11: The Show Community Day Gameplay Q&A
Technically no it wasn't a cheat, more of an anomaly that was exploited when a player wasn't successful with getting the runner in from third the usual way, Hit, Sac Fly. I thought it bothered more people.Comment

Has Players Potential been fixed for like star players? Like in 2010 guys like Miguel Cabrera had C Potential and would drop down to like a C overall in like 3 seasons....Comment

Re: MLB '11: The Show Community Day Gameplay Q&A
In open Online Rooms, if a runner is on third with no outs or 1 out the offensive user would initiate a steal from third, either a straight steal or an early steal. Usually by the time the pitch gets to the plate the runner is almost home or close enough that a fielder doesn't have time to field the bunted ball and throw home with both the fielder animation and catcher animation to run through. I think a fix to this issue would be to make it harder to bunt the ball with a runner stealing from third or adjust the amount of pop-ups that can occur when a runner breaks from third. This would deter people from using this feature often.
How many suicide squeeze plays have you seen in a regular baseball season?
I have also seen this successful with 2 outs and the user deploy a drag bunt as well.Comment

Gotcha! Maybe pitch out more or step off mound to see if they jump.In open Online Rooms, if a runner is on third with no outs or 1 out the offensive user would initiate a steal from third, either a straight steal or an early steal. In regards to pitching, did any of you notice if Human controlled pitchers issued more walks this year. In the past with metered pitching is was simply too easy to hit you spots. I played on HOF pitching and was still only averaging about 1-1.5 BB/Game, where as it should be somewhere in the 3-4 range. Is it harder to hit your spots now with analog pitching. I know some people said that using classic pitching helped with this, but I found that pitch locations where just too random with classic. You never got that feeling that you were able to really locate your pitches at all. With analog are you now able to still feel like you are locating your pitches, yet feel that you are able to get realistic user walk totals. I have always lead the league in fewest walks by a mile, this is really the only stat line in the game that I feel was way out of whack last year. Thanks.Comment

Re: MLB '11: The Show Community Day Gameplay Q&A
Just curious if anyone has any pics of Target Field in MLB The Show 2011?
I noticed on one that they added, the TC behind the plate. Last year they had the Twins script, which used to be at the Dome, and I am assuming they thought would be at Taret Field. I think this is funny that they got the TC this year, and knowing how things work, the Twins will go to either the Twins script, or the TC in red and white instead of all white.
I think they did the all white TC last year because of the 50th Anniversary.Comment

Re: MLB '11: The Show Community Day Gameplay Q&A
To be quite frank, YES! It's not like I was trying to throw every pitch in the strike zone. I always try to pitch realistically. I intentionally throw balls out of the zone trying to get guys to chase. My Strike/Ball ratio was always realistic (60-65% strikes) it was simply a case of the CPU batters not getting enough walks. They would either put the ball in play or foul off those borderline pitches or even those that were quite a bit out of the zone. I think the issue may be that the CPU should lay off more borderline pitches, especially with 3 balls. You would see more strikeouts looking, but would also see more walks as a result, 2 areas that we could see more of. This has been an issue since the Show started in 06. I'm sure others can chime in here, I can't be the only one with this issue.Comment

I feel like I must really suck at pitching then. My studs get about 2-3 walks a game, while my 4th and 5th guys issue anywhere from 5-10 walks (probably would be more if I pulled them later). To be quite frank, YES! I am also a little scared of the analog hitting. Someone said to add four more K's per game. I tend to strike out a ton against lefties. One game I went down 17 times to Rowland-Smith. Looks like it might be a long year for me eh?Comment

Hey Cards, do you typically K on breaking pitches or any pitch low in the zone? That's my problem, anyway, and I'm thinking the new custom cameras should help pick those pitches up sooner and actually cut down on the K's. Maybe wishful thinking, but it's early and hope is springing eternal!

Re: MLB '11: The Show Community Day Gameplay Q&A
You name it, I K on it. Seriously though, I strike out a lot on breaking pitches out of the zone as well as high heat when I am expecting a breaking pitch out of the zone, lol. I tend to work the count a lot, so I do get into deep counts that make for higher odds of striking out as well as walking. I was a little better my third season when I went away from the standard A's approach of high OBP and opted for swinging early in the count if it looks good. My OBP dropped, but my average and power numbers went up.Hey Cards, do you typically K on breaking pitches or any pitch low in the zone? Re: MLB '11: The Show Community Day Gameplay Q&A
No offense but the new analog controls sound really dumb. Not the throwing mechanics, but how you can cancel throws. Its stupid that you know that a throw is going to be bad before you let go of the ball. If you see that the throw is bad (red indicator) why wouldn't you always cancel your throw first before your fielder lets go of the ball? In real life you would never know if the throw is going to be offline ahead of time. This kind of reminds me of the guess pitch gimick which I don't use. They should really give you the option to turn off the accuracy feedback if the throw is going to be offline ahead of time, like you can with guess pitch. I like the idea of being able to cancel throws but not because you know that the throw will be bad. Its good in situations were a player is breaking for a base and you want to fake them out. Basically as long as you always cancel your bad (red) throws in time, you can go a whole season without making a throwing error. Completely unrealistic. Think I'll be sticking with the old throwing option.Last edited by harvey88; 01-18-2011, 07:10 PM.Comment
