He is third now. Was third his entire minor career. And plays as good if not better D at third than first. Third is his natural position. And he is most comfortable there.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

Andrew Bailey is the only A's player on any top ten list? Man it is going to be a long season next year. Is there a DH position? Maybe, just maybe, Matsui will get on that one.Comment

Now I'm being poked like a slack of ribs roasting on a stick.
Here's your answer.

For Verlander, he could easily be in the top 10 as he should have the same overall as Cain, Carpenter, and Lester. Even Price could make it in.
As for Cabrera and Gonzalez, I expect both players to be maxed on overall, so it doesn't make much of difference which order those two and Pujols are ranked. Cabrera is definitely the better hitter when it comes to making contact, both should have the same power rating, and Gonzalez has the better defense in my opinion.Comment

Re: Previews of Top 10 at each position?
I still think the biggest omission on his list is Matt Thornton on the RP list. I would think Matt would be top 3, and yet he isn't even on his list at all.
He compares pretty similar to Mike Adams, who is his #1. Adam had an insane 2009, Thornton had a better 2008, their 2010 is basically even, and their 3-year averages are pretty damn close. However, Adams pitches in Petco (Most pitcher friendly park) and Thornton pitches in US Cellular (Most hitter friendly park).
Not sure how Venters can be #2 with 2010 being his only season, and he is a starting pitcher anyway, unless they are leaving him in the bullpen.
Bard's numbers aren't as good as Thornton, and he has been doing it for only 2 years, although he is doing it in the AL East.
Just by going off his top 3 list, I think a case can be made that Thornton has been better than all 3 of them over the 3-year span that the game uses, so to not even have him in the top 10 seems like QUITE the omission.
EDIT: By the way, here is the link to the comparisons of Thornton, Adams, and Bard.

Re: Previews of Top 10 at each position?
I already mentioned it at around page 1 (40 posts per page), but Thorton isn't a glaring omission in top 10 RP that you're making him out to be. Tell me, who is the White Sox closer this year? They don't have Bobby Jenks and Thorton was their best reliever last season. Unless the White Sox have another closer in line, I'm assuming Thorton is going to be CP instead of a RP. He is definitely up there with the top set-up men, but the question for this season is whether he'll remain in that role or be promoted to the role that in my opinion he deserves. I had him 2nd right behind Adams, but before I make my list official, I try to make sure I have the player's position or role correct.I still think the biggest omission on his list is Matt Thornton on the RP list. I would think Matt would be top 3, and yet he isn't even on his list at all.

As for Nick Markakis, aside from his ability to hit at around .300 and solid if not good defense, he's average in power and probably average in speed. In my opinion he is also a B rating so the highest he would be is 9th. Ichiro should have a better arm, speed, and contact. You can make a case between he and Corey Hart, as Corey Hart has the better power, but that's about it.Last edited by BatsareBugs; 01-20-2011, 06:54 PM.Comment

Re: Previews of Top 10 at each position?
Well, if everything goes the way that pitching coach Don Cooper wants it to go, Peavy will be back for the start of the season, and Chris Sale will be the team's closer. I, for one, hope Sale never has to grace the bullpen again (despite being quite dominant last year in his short time), but other options are Jesse Crain (who said he would like to get the chance to close) or Sergio Santos (who is too inconsistent IMO to close).I already mentioned it at around page 1 (40 posts per page), but Thorton isn't a glaring omission in top 10 RP that you're making him out to be. Tell me, who is the White Sox closer this year? They don't have Bobby Jenks and Thorton was their best reliever last season. While Thornton is a prime candidate to be the closer, he has said in the past he doesn't like closing and prefers to be a set-up man. But I'd rather hear you omitted him because of him being a closer, and not because he isn't good. Although it makes me think if he is a closer in your mind, he could have probably entered your top 10 closers as well, but I'm not going to argue anything since he hasn't exactly starting closing games on a regular basis yet.Comment

Re: Previews of Top 10 at each position?
I argued about ratings last year and didn't see how pointless this argument is.
If you think Jamie Moyer should throw in the upper 90's or Jim Thome should win a gold glove in CF you can edit their ratings and everybody's happy.
However I agree that throwing out lists is quite funny, so I'll try it myself.
