Re: Ok Show fans, to what level of baseball have you played?
I played soccer and baseball until Jr. High. Then I started playing football, basketball and running track.
I still have yet to strike out ever in an organized league. That's my claim to fame.Moderator

Played in the Brewers system for 7 years. I was a catcher. Topped out at AAA (short stint). Spent my last two years in AA. Great times. I have been teaching and coaching high school for the past 11 years. Obviously I still get some of my baseball fix from The Show.Comment

Re: Ok Show fans, to what level of baseball have you played?
Well never made it close to the show, but played ball from the time i was 4, and finally quit once i got 17. I thought i was pretty good, was an All-Star in my state for 8 straight years, and played in numerous all-star tournaments. I played 2nd and C, had a decent bat (more of gaps vs HR's) but my D was my high point. I just quit and lost the love of the game, one of the biggest regrets of my life. I think about it all the time.. But happened for a reason, been playin in some summer leagues for the past few years and really loving it like i use too...PSN: OverPar8Comment

Re: Ok Show fans, to what level of baseball have you played?
Started at 4 years old, through most of my life played SS and pitched. Threw a no hitter at 13 years old. Played 4 years in high school starting mostly CF got moved up to varsity my sophmore year. Played 1 year of JUCO ball starting at second base. Hit about .280 with 4 homeruns, cant remember the rest. Realized I wasn't having fun anymore and gave it up after that year. Of course sometimes I wonder what could of been but my life isn't too bad as is....Battle.net: xXKING08Xx

Played outfield in little league through high school, moved to First Base in College/Semi-Pro. Got a concussion while playing and my eyesight went down the tubes. Went from natural 20/20 vision to 20/70 in each eye and completely wrecked my batting. Might have had a shot to play some minor league ball, but oh well. Thems the breaks.Comment

Re: Ok Show fans, to what level of baseball have you played?
Hahaha these politics stories are awesome so I need to share mine.
I blew out my arm during the summer between grade 11/12. I had the surgery, did the rehab and was pretty much good to go 8 months after it (so in like April). Up here, the season doesn't start until May so I could play, but my arm was still sore so I didn't pitch, but since I was a good hitter I told them I'd play the middle infield. There were three middle infielders on the team; myself, another senior, and then a junior. The junior (who ended up better than both of us at the end of the day) couldn't hit at all. Our coach puts me at short to the start the year, and its pretty clear I didn't have the arm to make the long throws anymore. So he starts going to a rotation between me and the other senior, who can also hit, at short.
I go to the coach at midseason and suggest that I play 2nd, since a) the throw is shorter, b) that's where I played when I didn't pitch for pretty much my whole life and c) its clearly the best option for the team. This guy just goes off on me for like 10 minutes on how I'm a ***** who's bailing on the team and faking my arm injury because I'm not good enough to play short. I'm pretty confused considering I just came back from rehab on a major surgery to play, but whatever its his team.
So at the end of the day, I end up getting demoted to hitting 9th the rest of the year, but I play every inning at short. I could never figure out if the guy wanted me to play more, or if he was being a jerk and making me play SS because he knew it would make me look bad (which it did, I had to play so far in and it ended up hurting us in the playoffs).
I still really miss playing (that and hockey). I played competitive travel ball until I was 16 but quit because the coaching staff of the team pretty much took all the fun out of playing. I sort of regret it because although I sure wasn't making it to the majors or anything, I always wanted to go to a major D1 college to play and I might've had a shot at that. The year after I quit was when I blew out my arm playing pickup ball and as much as I hated the travel team, the training regimen was good and I wonder if that would've prevented it.Last edited by theaub; 02-22-2011, 12:07 AM.Blue Jays, Blackhawks, AuburnComment

Re: Ok Show fans, to what level of baseball have you played?
To video game level! I'm English and played a lot of cricket when I was younger. Sometimes thought it would be fun to try baseball but the nearest I got was a few swings and pitches with an American friend in a field on a trip to the States. He could see that I had loads of untapped talent...Comment
