Re: Who will be playing in 3D this year?
The biggest issue for me so far in limited time is not really lag but on a certain setting it was "slow". Not response slow but everything was slowed down overall by like 20%. It was wierd.. lolFindinghomer, here's my completely honest view after playing the Show 11 demo in 3D a lot. I never got to play the 2010 demo in 3D, so I can't compare it to how the 2011 demo looks. Overall, I'm fairly pleased with how the game looks in 3D and will probably end up playing about half of my games in 3D.
The reason I'll go back and forth is there is a very noticeable drop in clarity. For example, in 2D, Lincecum's hair has pointy strands that stick out on the sides and add a lot of detail. In 3D you barely notice it. Also, textures look a little blurry during gameplay. Not much, but just enough to notice things you never saw before when switching back to 2D. The frame rate is also a tiny bit more smooth in 2D, but overall the game still performs remarkably well in 3D. I also feel like the devs could have pushed more depth into the game in certain shots. Overall, it feels a little conservative. The last negative is the common misconception that 3D will allow you to see the ball coming towards you when batting. Honestly, this is not the case at all, at least for me. Others may disagree and think they see a difference, but the only time the ball comes at me is after a foul tip to the screen. I am holding out hope that the issues with limited depth were addressed post demo, but from what I understand the 3D was completed early on in development.
Having said all that, when the 3D works, it adds SO much immersion to the game. From the catcher views, the stadium really looks amazing and it feels like the outfield wall really is 400 feet away. The shots where you foul the ball off into the stands look amazing as you see it shoot away from you. Fielding also looks great as you can see the ball clearly flying high off the ground. The boats in the water are cool to see outside the stadium. I can't wait to see the ballparks with city skylines beyond the outfield.
Anyways, I hope this was all informative for you and makes it easier to decide whether or not to invest in a 3D TV. Since I already have one, the decision comes down to what's more important to me? The razor sharp clarity and vibrancy of the 2D picture, or the immersive depth of 3D? Because honestly, both look equally impressive, but for different reasons.
I changed something and that cleared it up. I just like how certain things "pop" now. I'll get more into it with retail.
I guess for me is the 2D quaility of the plasma is stellar and the added 3D is icing on cake. Again to get 3D just for 3D right now probably isn't worth it BUT if you're in the market for a TV and can get a 3D model ..why not?Joshua:

Re: Who will be playing in 3D this year?
Main reason I got mine. BB had their "Deal of the Week" with the 50" Sammy and 3D kit for 999.99. That along with me in the market for TV = No brainer.Joshua:

Re: Who will be playing in 3D this year?
first of all, i dont think people understand that 3d is not some fad, or gimmick. its is an evolution of tv. just like when hi def FIRST came out, it was very expensive to get one that has the tuner built in. now every set comes standard with a high def tuner. the same will be said for 3d.
a 3d tv doesn mean its just a 3d tv. a 3d tv is a TOP OF THE LINE 1080p high def tv (hence the price) , capable of producing 3d images. as of now, sure its an option, but it doesnt actually cost much more to go for the option. but as tv manufacturers continue to produce, and evolve the 3d capability in tvs will be STANDARD. you dont have to use it. but it will be there. this is not the 80's 3d fad blue and red glasses lol.
i understand its not for everyone, in fact only thing im not crazy about is wearing glasses.... meh.
JD, thanx for the review thats what im looking for. since im buying a new tv, i figure i might as well spend 150 extra bucks and get the 3d capable one. does switching from 3d to 2d hamper your timing at all, when batting or pitching?Comment

Re: Who will be playing in 3D this year?
Nope, there is absolutely no difference in timing my batting or pitching in either setting. Skyboxer is correct, the game is slightly slower, but you get use to it quickly as the controls are still 1 to 1. I'll also go back and say that last night I played with the depth slider all the way up and it actually does add alot more depth than what I said before. The problem is it also introduces an unsettling amount of ghosting. This is because the devs set the convergence point at a really poor spot. It's complicated, but if that were fine tuned they could have gotten a much better picture. But if you can learn to ignore that ghosting, there really isn't much to complain about regarding amount of depth.
So based off what you've said, I'd say you should go for it. But be sure to be patient and find a deal that comes with at least two glasses for free. I got my 50 inch 720p samsung with two glasses and Call of Duty for 900 at Best Buy a month ago.Comment

depends on where you set the 3D bar slider, I found that the perfect set is 60% of 3D effects, if you set the bar all the way to 100% the 3D effects are more amazing, but to me is harder to hit because of a little ghost that you get of the pitcher, 50% to 60% does not give any ghost image and is also easier to hit than 2D because of the deepth of field, I even was able to hit a HR with Cody Ross already, but that could be also a result of playing more the game, one thing for sure, like all the 3D games that I have played the graphics looks a little dark when on 3d and the resolution is also lower, but is worthy because of the 3D, once you play on 3d there is no coming back, do yourself a favor and pay the extra money, you will not regret, by the way blu rays 3D moviers are also amazing like Deep Ocean for example, Best Buy have a 3D display to try out, go and check!Comment

Re: Who will be playing in 3D this year?
yea the 3d movies do look amazing, esp things like the grand canyon etc... but due to lack of 3d content, movies wouldnt be a selling point for me. only reason i would get one now would be for mlb. will be nice when they really start pumping out 3d movies.Comment

Re: Who will be playing in 3D this year?
getting a 3DTV does not mean you are getting top of the line, so don't put that in people's heads
compare 3DTVs with HDTVs at the same price point, the regular HDTV more often than not has better 2D picture quality than the 3DTV.
If someone only wants 2D it would be foolish for them to get 3D, because for the same price they could get a regular HDTV that is HIGHER IN THE LINE than the 3D.Comment

Re: Who will be playing in 3D this year?
I don't beleive I could ever sit down and wear those glasses to play a game or watch tv. When the technology gets here where you can have 3d without wearing the glasses then I will look at it. To my understanding the technology is here or nearly here. Just have to wait for the price on them to drop to a reasonable level before thinking about a new set. I'm sure the effect is cool but I would not wear those glasses to game or watch tv.
For now I'm completely happy with my Sammy (2D).Originally posted by ImTellinTimIf I lived in Waco, I would find you and kick you right in the nuts.Comment

a 3d tv IS top of the line bc, in order for it to display 3d objects it has to have the quickest response, framerate, and highest resolution. so as a base, manufactures use their top of the line model THEN they add 3d. .. now when it comes to brand, sure it can be subjective. one might think a samsung 3d is inferior to a panasonic non 3d. things like that can be debated all day. your comparing brands, not hd - 3d.Comment

Re: Who will be playing in 3D this year?
Guys lets not turn this yet again into a debate on what one person thinks vs another. I'd like for this thread to stay open for those of us who are happy with our 3D sets and just want to discuss it.
Either you think it's worth it or don't.
No ones going to change thier mind either way especially when it always ends up being a "Those that don't have one will try and prove why it's no good" and "Those that have it trying to prove why it is"
So if you are going to game in 3D share your thoughts on that aspect and not on why it's better than 2D.....
If not then say so but leave it at that and not "You wasted your money" posts to those that are...
