Because I have tried to do this and I export the player and then import them into the roster that I am using for my chise but when I load the chise the roster is the same. The player doesn't have the new ratings he still has the same as the original roster I started the chise with. I have never tried importing and exporting players before so I might be doing something wrong or maybe its not possible. I figured if anyone would know it would be all the the knowledgeable people on this site. Any help would be appreciated and thank you in advance.
You can't import or export a player in franchise mode, the only way to update that player would be to do it manually in your frachise save under manage roster...

I have a question about the settings that should be changed to turn a starting pitcher into a relief pitcher. I thought I already saw this thread on here but can't seem to find it now. Anyone out there that can tell me the different attributes to change?

Is there any big difference between having a player play in Single A, AA or AAA?

Is there a set formula or anything when it comes to bringing a young player or rookie along? Should certain ages be playing at a certain level (18, 19 year olds in Single A, etc) or is it more based on the player's skill level?

Unless they are super studs, most minor league guys spend at least a year in Single A. Double A has, at least in the last few years, become the place where teams seem to stockpile most of its best talent. Triple A is where you'll find veterans that have been up-and-down from The Show for several years, guys on rehab assignments and there's also some top-flight prospects there as well, ready for the call-up if a guy in the MLB gets injured.

I'd say young prospects (especially out of HS) usually hang around the multiple Single A levels their first year as a pro, 2nd year they'll see time in AA and may even go to the show if they're a true stud. AAA is usually reserved for vets (26+) like stated above, prospects usually go there to get ready for the Majors once they're on the 40 (called up and sent back down)

2-4 years in the minor is typical.

As for the game, players will progress the same no matter if they're play majors or minors, stats may like pretty or ugly depending where he's at...I personally am not calling a prospect up until they're in the minors for at least 2 years and are currently on a hot streak (rating boost)

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Q&A Thread

So I just started my Franchise, using the midseason update of Knight's rosters by Ridin'. I don't use 30-team control, because I enjoy the organic experience of letting the computer teams do their own thing - but one thing has started to bug me about 40 games into my first season.

Guys who are injured in real life (like Sizemore and McCann, for example) are not on the 40-man roster of their respective teams, and despite the fact that their injury time has elapsed they remain in Single-A, despite being some of the highest rated players on their teams' rosters.

Any workarounds or fixes for this issue? I thought that turning force trades on, trading for these players, putting them on the 40-man, then trading them back to their teams would do the trick, but I can't seem to find a way to turn force trades on.

You can edit the roster before going into Franchise. Just add the guys back to the 40-man roster (I believe it's a 25-man set originally) and then you can either choose to manually injure them and place them on the DL, or you can ignore the injuries and have them start the season in the majors.

They were SOOOOOO close to getting it that we could import players into already started franchises as opposed to having to stick with the rosters from the start.
It was just causing too many problems to keep it in.
Hopefully, they eventually can iron that out as that would be a great and welcome addition.

I would adjust stamina and durability.
How reliable of a SP do you want to make?.....If he's good for many innings on a regular basis(an every 5th day 6-7 inning guy(if he's capable of this)...then make sure his durability is upped to have him regain his stamina in between starts.

I think he means in the game(as opposed to real life)
In game...right now it doesn't really play that much into anything EXCEPT how he performs vs. the opposition.....meaning...if you leave him at a level he can excel at...he has a good chance of either jumping a grade(potential) and/or gaining points(IN SEASON...NOT SEASON TO SEASON PROGRESSION) to use for the current season.
(for me...this would be if I had two closely rated players and I wanted to use one guy for a spell in the MLB)
So it is something at least.

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Q&A Thread

                      Baseball noob questions about stealing.....

What are the right pitch counts/situations to be stealing in? I know you shouldn't steal 3rd with 2 outs and I think you're not supposed to steal with 0 or 1 outs and the current batter having 2 strikes, but I'm not 100% sure on that one.

Should I always be trying to get a lead-off step or is it still possible for me to steal bases without one? I'm assuming it's much easier to accomplish this with a fast guy like Rajai Davis than it is an average speed guy like Yunel Escobar.

Speaking of lead-offs, should I consider getting 1 step without an attempted pick-off a success, or should I push my luck for 2 steps at times with a guy with a really high BR Ability, assuming that because of that high rating he'll be more likely to get back safe if the pitcher attempts a pick-off? OR is trying to get 2 lead-off steps not even worth the risk at all?

And finally, how often does a team normally attempt steals in real life? I know this will vary for different teams, but I'd just like to know so I'm not over-attempting steals.

Ok, so I restarted my franchise, using 40-man rosters which alleviated the problem of all stars being stuck in the minors. However, now a new problem seems to have arisen. When I went in and manually injured players such as Johan Santana and Buster Posey, the computer teams did not place them on the DL. So, now teams like the Pirates are running with only one healthy catcher (since Chris Snyder is injured) and are doing moronic things like starting Dusty Brown at catcher rather than calling up someone like McKenry or Fryer, both of whom are on their 40-man roster. Any way to fix this?

Sorry to bump this from the dead, but figured I would post here and not make a new thread for such a small question.

When influencing flyball/groundball with the left stick, do I have to hold it up/down/left/right for the entire swing? Or is it like contact/normal/power swing where you select it before each pitch?

No you don't have to hold it during the swing. Just flick the stick up/down/left/right anytime before the pitch is thrown.

I just advanced to the off-season and want to hire a new manager, but I need to fire my current manager. I'm looking at the menus and I don't see where I can do this. Can someone point me in the right direction?
