My current RttS player is a CF, a starting All-Star leading the league in SB, AVG and Hits centerfielder. Second position is OF. Despite this, I've played (after pinch-hitting) an inning at second base twice, third base once, and catcher twice (including a 2-inning stint one of those times). This is in 1.5 years in MLB.

Is there a way to change your pitcher from a starter to a late reliever/closer? After being used as a reliever I've decided I like it much better, but now I'm being used as a starter exclusively and not doing well.

You can make it your secondary position whenever you want but if you want it to be your primary position you will have to wait for the interaction to come up that allows you to change your position if the manager let's you

Next game, playing SS, Catcher John Baker. I was praying I wouldn't give up a hit that way!

I chose the team I chose and didn't select draft because I want to stay with this team so I don't really understand why there isn't an option to turn off trading of my player.

Anyway they kept trying to trade me in july while I was in AAA, my stats are really good, sub 2 era, a lot of strikeouts, low amount of walks etc.. but my ratings are what you'd expect from an 18 year old. I would reload saves and they kept trading me, I would use some skill points to try an alter the memory, which worked but they would just trade me to a different team. So I artificially inflated my stats by giving up around 7 runs a game for 3 games in a row, ended up with a 4/5 era overall. This worked and I finally made it past the deadline, so I play a few games in my normally dominating way and in the second week of august I get traded again.

So my question is when exactly am I safe from being traded? I hate having to play awful intentionally just to lose trade value.

The problem is you are a low-rating player with high potential outperforming your ratings. If you play for an organization that is pushing for the playoffs, then you are a valuable trade chip. If you were doing the same thing for a rebuilding organization, you're less likely to get traded.

My closer in the Ranger organization has the same problem - I've already reverted back to saves 4 or 5 times to avoid trades. I switched him to classic style pitching, so I would start pitching more to my stats, so my last few outings haven't been as good, but I think you and I both will have to play the entire first season a few games at a time, avoiding trades.

The only thing you can do is keep checking the manager interactions to change positions. Well, that or do so lousy (including failing goals) that they demote you. And slasher is wrong, pitchers don't have secondary positions, so you can't do that. His answer is correct for position players, but not pitchers.

Good choice if I had to do it again I'd pick a curver or slider over my 12-6 curve.

I really didn't want to resign with the Mets but they automatically renewed my contract, and I'm in the MLB Bullpen now and not the closer. WTF

I got promoted really fast in my Reds SP RTTS. Spent a month as the Bats ace before I got promoted to the Reds in May 2012.Carlos Fisher was in the rotation for a month and I was the long man, then I cracked the rotation. Meeting advancement goals really play a part in getting promoted quickly.

Yes they do! Did you pick or get drafted by the reds?

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread

I created a RF that was drafted by the Indians. Spent 3 years in the minors, and started 2014 in the Majors. Started off hitting .400 10 HR 25 RBI batting 8th 75% of the time and cleanup 25% of the time. Then in mid-May, I got sent down to AAA. This was my WTF moment? I'm not just the best hitter on the team, I had a triple crown going, even though it was early in the season, but still really? Didn't get called back up until the end of June and ... then I sit on the bench? So I play about once a week, then I tell the manager I want to start so I would play in two games then sit another week. So mid-September, I'm hitting .350 30HR 50RBI in 220 AB, and I get sent down to AAA again, because Columbus made the playoffs, so I led them to the AAA championship batting .350 2HR 9RBI in the playoffs. When the playoffs ended, I was called back up and surprise, I'm on the bench with a week to go.

I hate the AI in this game. Besides all the other stuff, I was demoted to the bench in the middle of an advancement period for no reason, then my goal is to get X hits. So my manager doesn't play me the remain 5-7 days of the advancement period so I fail to reach the goal.

When my 6 years are up, I am without a doubt taking my talents to South Beach too.
