And I think it was cleared up on some thread that the show 10 cannot output 1080p, without going through PS3's upscaler, which is not so good.

I can't say for sure, but its probably same this year too.

I SO MISS the crisp graphics of the show 09 1080p.
(Although 10 had better overall lightings...)
    Exactly!

If you have a PC monitor that can accept direct sources without the scaling like TVs do, the technicalities stood out.

That is why last year I ran numerous tests on various displays and used the Dell LCD as the source and it discovered it was a 540p image being scaled.

I asked Kolbe and one of the techs personally cause of the issue when I was in San Diego.

This is what they said, and I quote, "the game no longer supports 1080p native. We are doing too much in the engine and it is too taxing on the hardware now. It is optimized for the max native resolution of 720p. Anything higher will be 720p upscaled"

    Case closed.

Um, Enigma clarified this in the very first reply in this thread.

The 1080p upscaling looks different on different TVs. If Giants4Natic's TV (or at least its upscaler) is not as good as Scott's, that would explain why Scott's 1080p looks better and Giants has issues with jaggies and a pixelated mound. There's no placebo effect; it either looks better or it doesn't, and the quality of that upscaling depends on the TV.

SMH....... My TV has a terrific upscaler but I also use the Onkyo scaler which is one of the best around. It has nothing to do with lookin better, regardless if he has a tv that makes ice cream

The game is not native 1080p....He is getting 720p on 1080p forced which caused the pixelated rubber and edges on the foul lines.

I tried this on no LIE 10 diff tv's

There is no magic tv that makes 1080p look better when it is not native and the PS3 has a bad upscaler and his tv does not have a better one then the one I have.

End of discussion. If he sees much better graphics then so be it. What ever floats your boat

I believe it probably says it somewhere on the load up screen or game manual even. I remember last years game saying something along the lines of this, for best hdtv results, use 720P, on the load up screen. Set your PS3 to use all 720P, 1080I, 1080P and see which one loads up. Black Ops loads in 1080P, Fight Night Champion loads in 1080P, but The Show will load in 720P.....Do the math.
The first "tip" message for me on the startup screen was to run The Show in 720p. I'm going to trust the developers who have tested this game on many tvs and know the programming inside and out instead of some random forum member.

I noticed when I play 1080p that the picture doesn't fill the whole screen? Anyone else notice that? its 720p for me

That's likely whatever TV/monitor you are using. I use a LCD monitor to play my PS3 and it's native resolution is 1920x1200 while 1080p is 1920x1080. I always get a black bar at the bottom when I'm viewing something that is 1080p.

If you go under audio/video settings in the game, there is an option to adjust the vertical and horizontal size of the picture. If you adjust that it will take up the whole screen.

Really guys? We can't talk about this without everyone proving they know more than someone else has , how much of it they have, and how awesome it is?

                          Stop the back and forth.

I've gone back and forth playing with each and I think there are some things that look better in 1080p and some that seem to be better in 720p.

I definitely think the closeups of players on cutscenes look crisper using 1080p and when you see the catcher on things like foul balls. I do notice the pixelation of the rubber though.

I'm keeping it on 1080p for now and will wait for more feedback. I know the game says it is optimized for best performance in 720p, but the back of the box shows that optimal resolution of 1080p and says "video output in full HD 1080p requires an HDMI cable and a 1080p native display"
