Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread** 2011 Edition
I traded Justin Smoak, Franklin Guttierrez, and one of my top prospects to the Brewers for Prince Fielder, and Alcedis Escobar (I think it was). I couldn't get Pujols without giving up King Felix, so I said screw that. It is kind of realistic as the Mariners were talking with the Brewers about Fielder a year or so ago.Comment

I think Escobar is with KC now? Part of the Greinke deal...
IkeSlider, if you want to get rid of Cabrera, you'd be able to get the kings ransom and then some for him.JayElectronicaBluElzhi2PacTheNotoriousB.I.G.ReksSc arfaceFashawnJeruThaDamajaComment

Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread** 2011 Edition
So my first order of business as Pirates GM was to improve the pitching rotation, naturally. I'm a very big fan of Jeremy Hellickson (and I like me some James Shields as well) so I went right to the TB organization. My goal is to not give up any of the young core (McClutch, Alvarez, Walker, and Tabata to a lesser extent) so I immediately search for a prospect to deal. I like Walker at 2B because he's young, reliable, and has room to grow. So I dangle my top 2B prospect, Jose Sousa (I'm not even sure who the hell he is supposed to be?) in front of the Rays GM. What I saw next made my jaw drop...
Shields + Hellickson for Sousa was a full go. Seemed to be absolutely no objection from the Rays. "Wow." was pretty much all I could think. So, doing my best anti-Pirates front office impression, I demanded more in return for Sousa (who, apparently, the Rays believed to be better than the top 5 2B of all-time combined). That "more" turned out to be Desmond Jennings.
So my first move as Pirates GM was: Rays get 2B prospect Jose Sousa; Pirates get SPs James Shields and Jeremy Hellickson plus RF prospect Desmond Jennings.
Was this realistic? No...no, no no no no no. Not by a longshot. Not by any stretch of the imagination. But it definitely made me feel like exactly what I already knew myself to be: The Best Pirates GM In History.
Edit: Anyone have a clue what the CPU might have been thinking in this situation? I mean, this is one of the most lopsided trades I've ever made in any game... ever.Last edited by rjv3; 03-12-2011, 10:19 PM.Comment

If we could trade Conger for Guillen in real life I would cry tears of joy. Conger is a great piece to have. Guillen would probably suffer a season ending injury walking into the plane anywayJayElectronicaBluElzhi2PacTheNotoriousB.I.G.ReksSc arfaceFashawnJeruThaDamajaComment

Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread** 2011 Edition
What do you guys think of this trade.
I'm using the Mets and 20 games in and being 10-10 I decided to make a trade to improve.
I traded to the Red Sox two A prospects, Ruben Tejada, Oliver Perez, and Fernando Martinez for Dice-K, Marco Scutaro, Jonathan Papelbon, Darnell Mcdonald, and a C prospect.
also earlier in the season I trade Luis Castillo for Koskue Fukudome.Comment

Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread** 2011 Edition
Hey, so I just started a Phillies franchise and was wondering what trades I should make for them. So far I was thinking of replacing Raul Ibanez , and Placido Polanco, because they are getting older and are slow players. For Ibanez the White Soxs are willing to trade Juan Pierre for him, and I think that is a good trade, but if there are any die hard Phillies fans on here enlighten me on that trade. For Polanco, I really do not have any ideas beside Michael Young, and so far I haven't been able to decide if I really want to pull the triggers on these trades. So please give me some advice on these trades, and if you don't like them, then please provide me with other trade options, thanks.Comment

Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread** 2011 Edition
Hey, so like I said before I started a Phillies franchise and was hoping to improve either third base or left field. I was also looking to get rid of Oswalt and his big contract for younger more talented starting pitching. While the left field trade will not happen anymore because Ibanez is having such a great year with power and average, so all I did was sign Willy Taveras who gives me speed and defense off of the bench. On the other hand both Polanco and Oswalt are having horrid years, so I really want to get rid of both of these guys. So I am willing to give up Polanco, Maddson, Lidge, and a bunch of prospects, now all I need is for you guys to give me some advice on who to trade for. I might have a deal in place to get David Wright from the Mets and maybe Josh Johnson from the Marlins, but both are proving hard to get. SO guys please give me some ideas on who to trade for. Thanks!Comment
