Re: Manager Mode 2011
I've stolen 2nd several times in the few games I've played, and the player has never attempted to steal third on the next pitch, or whatever. Are you selecting "steal all", or "steal 2nd".Well, there were bugs that were addressed several years ago, such as if a player successfully stole second the command wouldn't be canceled and he would try to steal again on the next pitch, where he usually would be thrown out at third. If he made it to third he would try to steal home on the next pitch. But now it has resurfaced. The commands aren't canceling between pitches. The late inning freeze during the double switch has resurfaced. This also had been fixed in a previous version. I may be wrong but I think the save game feature has also been changed. It looks like if you save a game you have to exit franchise mode before resuming. The way the game keeps freezing in the late innings we should be able to MANUALLY save whenever we want to without exiting a game in progress.Comment

Re: Manager Mode 2011
Steal second. It doesn't happen all the time, but enough to be bothersome. Last time it happened the bases were loaded, two outs, a 3 and 2 count. I sent all the runners. The batter walked and a run scored. On the next pitch they all broke again and the runner on 3rd was out at the plate.Last edited by armymule; 03-19-2011, 01:24 PM.Comment

Re: Manager Mode 2011
I used steal all when he mentioned it just now and it did it all three times.
I mentioned it to Ramone anyway...that shouldn't happen...it's not a CPU A.I. decision(like the H&R you see happen w/o you calling for it...that's not going away until a revamp)....it's definitely a bug.

Re: Manager Mode 2011
The whole idea of MOM mode is for us to manage a game. When the CPU steals a base without your "consent", it goes against what that mode is supposed to be. Things like that shouldn't be controlled by the CPU, in fact, ANYTHING that a manager would be doing in game should not be controlled by the CPU unless they added an option for "AUTO".What bugs from last year?
If you are referring to the CPU "takeovers"....it's not a bug per se....it's because MoM is a forced mode which is really CPU vs. CPU in which they added the ability for the user to make decisions. There was never really the ability to STOP CPU decisions...hence why you see those issues. They will be there until the actually overhaul MoM...
So laziness isn't the correct term. They just are not ready(time...mostly) to completely overhaul MoM just yet(for '11)
2K has neither of the things mentioned. No MoM...therefore nothing associated with it.

Again.....you have to understand what this mode was from the start. The whole idea of MOM mode is for us to manage a game. When the CPU steals a base without your "consent", it goes against what that mode is supposed to be. Things like that shouldn't be controlled by the CPU, in fact, ANYTHING that a manager would be doing in game should not be controlled by the CPU unless they added an option for "AUTO".
It WASN'T a mode at all...was never intended to be an option and something that Kolbe put in to appease a certain type of gamer. It is nothing but a CPU vs. CPU game.
Now that's not to say I don't fully agree that I want to make every choice and only my choices used....but that's a different animal.

Re: Manager Mode 2011
One thing about a player stealing 2nd on his own is that players in real life will attempt those types of things on their own from time to time w/o being instructed to. However I do agree that it's frustrating. I do hate the players bunting, pitchouts, intentional walks, mound visits, etc all being done w/o me commanding that they happen. Other things:
- I have frozen multiple times after I have selected a mound visit.
- It would not allow me to make a defensive sub earlier in a game.
- On a double switch it put the position player on the mound and the pitcher was just gone. wth!
However the most annoying thing about this game is the lack of stats! Baseball, more than ANY OTHER SPORT has a huge following of stat-heads. Look at all the sites out there that analyze virtually every possible statistic! Plus I dont know past season's stats for players! I find the stats to be the game's single biggest downfall.
Look at games like Baseball Mogul and Out Of the Park Baseball. Look at the vast amount of stats they have, which they must as text based sims. But if a game like the Show had this wide array of stats available it would be the absolute best of both worlds. Years ago we had this with the old High Heat series but I havent seen any game in quite some time that pays any attention to this.
It's almost like the people making baseball games dont do any research into this stuff. Baseball fans more than ANY OTHER want more stats! PLEASE!
Another gripe is on player ratings. Why use stupid bars instead of a numerical rating? It is MUCH easier to compare players when having a numerical rating rather than looking at those dumb bars. If they are going to insist on using those bars then at least give us a "player compare" option where the players' bars will be side by side.
Thanks for listening...Comment

Re: Manager Mode 2011
Hello:
I play MoM only and I enjoy it greatly...I am 64 and at my age it is too difficult to play with the stick, buttons....with relexes slower than they used to be..it also does not portray MLB players skills. Some people think it is funny that at my age I love the PS3. However, I point out that I play mostly simulation games-in madden I play coach mode, manage in MLB, and in Fight Night Champion I like to create Simulation tournaments between boxers from different time periods.
I also find the PS3 MOVE great in keeeping me active and an aid to getting daily exercise-The Fight- gives you an excellent workout-and HR derby in MLB is fun. I wish Microsoft would come out with a version of ther Flight Simulator for the PS3....I love that on PC.
I agree with the posts regarding fixing MoM to eliminate the CPU interference....when a player ruins a rally by bunting with 2 outs-I get really po'd. The idea of streamlining the game regarding the O button is an excellent one. I think another good idea would be a virtual pitching coach who would inform you regarding which relievers are ready-which are looking good, etc.
I wish someone would come out with a good roster with all star all time teams-I'm finding it hard to get used to the Ted Williams/Derek Jeter hybrid clone.
I forget exactly how it worled but I remember the High Heat series had an excellent manager mode that was more inclusive and less interfering than the present one on MLB.Comment

That's what got me started in this whole thing(well EWB...but..)
There are guys working on a classic roster set.
I always do one as well....with greatest teams.
Not sure what I'll do this year...but with the Full Minors set almost being complete...I'll be starting something soon.
I want to try a 1951 maybe.....

Re: Manager Mode 2011
If you're willing to lend SCEA about $400,000.00 to pay for the rights to Ebbets...(and about $300,000.00 for Tigers Stadium....because someone always wants that one too!!).....they might make it. When I asked why the Polo Grounds instead of Ebbets(or just Ebbets also)....that's the reason!
On other notes...I've been trying the "STEAL 2nd" button instead of "STEAL ALL" and I've had no problems with my guys continuing to steal on their own.
I still let Russ know of the steal all bug and hopefully that and the double switch/def sub...etc bugs get squashed and we can move on!
Here's to hopefully facing some of you guys HEAD to HEAD in '12!

Re: Manager Mode 2011
Love this mode myself, it is all I do. (except for a little RTTS)
The bugs this season are annoying (freeze, dbl switch and steal to name a few), and I am puzzled to why they don't allow it in exhibition anymore.
With all that said, it's still hands down an amazing game. One thing I need in future versions is quicker games. I like the quick mode someone stated earlier, but I really miss the old one pitch mode, from old FPS baseball games.
Of course, you can never have enough stats either.

Re: Manager Mode 2011
You may be right about the "STEAL 2nd" command. It now seems to be working for me but I was sure it happened (sometimes) when I hit that command. I wont say any more about it until it happens again. On the problem where the bases are loaded or runners are on 1st and 2nd the choice isn't there to steal 2nd. I think the steal command should be canceled before the next pitch, maybe even a double steal and triple steal commands added.Comment

Re: Manager Mode 2011
I have noticed that on 3-2 with two out , runner on 1b, runners on 1B and 2B, or bases loaded, the runners go on their own, as they should (they did not do so in last years game) so now I don't have to do the "steal all" in those situations.I used steal all when he mentioned it just now and it did it all three times.

I only notice the "steal command sticking" issue when I do a Hit-and run and the batter fails to make contact. The runner, or runners, then attempt to steal on the very next pitch. I wrote it up in the bugs thread as well.Comment

I'm sorry I haven't been playing much yet..so I'm glad you guys picked up on this and put it in the thread.
I saw Ramone put...first batch COMPILED in that thread.....so I have high hopes!!
