I think people don't realize what I'm trying to get at then.

Is Jeter a good hitter? Yes. At one point, he was one of the best hitters in the game.

Is Jeter a good shortstop? Hardly. In his prime, perhaps, but he has fallen off so much that it would be better for the Yankees to go get a pure defensive shortstop, trade Posada, and stick Jeter in the DH spot.

Jeter was better last year defensively then he was on offense. Another GG I think.

No, he digressed in both batting and fielding. He had a good year during their World Series run a few years ago, but he dropped back to Earth.

Also, Gold Gloves are symbols of popularity, not of defense. Michael Young has a Gold Glove at shortstop, and he was horrid at that position.

Last year he was one of the worst defensive short stops of ALL TIME.

            how are sabremetrics bs?
seriously baseball is a stat game even old time baseball guys say that.
So sabremetrics take those numbers use mathematical equations to make those numbers mean more than one thing? How is that BS?

What sabermetrics is trying to do is to quantify different aspects of the game in ways that are fair and not biased. It's difficult but still gives us less biased views than watching games only occasionally or reading about players in newspapers. People do understand the limitation of a particular method. Calling sabermetrics a BS without even trying to understand what it really does is just plain ignorance.

So funny and interesting Jeter can evoke so much emotion in people though! Think about what he would've been if he were just a lifetime Brewer or something. I bet nobody would be talking about him by now.
