BINGO! You're the winner! How couldn't they have known what I was talking about? I said using an offline save and that means taking a file somebody else has gotten online and using a flash drive to copy it over to the PS3.

An offline save of what?

YOu mentioned the word patch, which the PS3 can only do with internet access. Not a flashdrive. You can update the firmware via flashdrive, and update rosters/franchise and stuff, but not a game update AKA patch.

I think the fact that you were able to do this in the first place was a bug...they no longer have the rights to those players' likness' so they can't be in the game....hence they were removed.

But what about current players? That ability was also removed.

Here is a shot in the dark, but has anyone tried to load a "corrupted" franchise, then go into a game, and try an "in-game save" Maybe it will save that way....If it does, then you should be able to overwrite the file once you get back to the schedule screen.

Good idea, but it did not work. Just tried it and a message said something to the effect..'it could not find the file created by another user' and ended the game as if it was never started or played.

This issue is reading files pre-patch as created by someone else and no one is getting the answer to why this is happening to some of us. Hopefully soon though. You can still save and use a mode that is corupted, you just can't have trophies or duplicate saves..and of course, have no idea if this causes another issue later (i.e., are you wasting time) or can be fixed.

Your question was about "past players", which is what I answered...I don't know how it works for current players. I'm not a roster guy, but why would you need to create current players...aren't they already there?

Maybe I'm not clear on what you are asking?

Maybe I am not understanding but this IS NOT possible.

If he means a roster, or now a franchise file, or even a firmware update yes you can use a flashdrive. Game updates/Patches of any kind, not possible.

Just do in game saves and don't risk losing your work.

Thanks Russell, game is almost perfect for me now.

That's the workaround, the downside is it resets pitcher confidence to beginning level but it's better than starting the game over.

Another one I just found today which is probably related to mound visit freeze is player ejected game freeze. Easy fix, turn ejections off.

I like this game better that last year, hopefully they will fix manage mode for 2012 so cpu doesn't manage the game. Until then, as long as the patch the glitches which I believe they will, it's a good game.

Sorry man. I understand the past players part. I'm was just asking about current players as a friend is trying to recreate the 2008 season (his a big Phillies fan) and he wants all the players in there correct hats.
