A pretty funny moment for me was during a world series game against the LA Dodgers with my RTTS pitcher (Ace of the Texas Rangers at the time) and I threw a fastball down the middle on accident against James Loney and he made contact but it shot straight back at the Home plate umpires throat. It was rather amusing considering he had been giving crap calls all game.

Funniest thing happened to me last night in my rtts : bases loaded my guy up to bat. I managed to hit a grounder right at the mound then the ball disappeared and it showed my guy running to first scoring a run.

I check the replay and.my rocket shot to the mound hit the pitchers rubber and shot straight up in the air about 100 feet....

Still playing 10, but I had an awful strike out and Rex Hudler during the replay is clowning me:

            "You know he's saying..........Whyyyyyyy......aaammmmmmmm......II IIIII.......doiiiiiiinnnnggggg.......Thiiiiiisssss ?????"

Man, I laughed for 20 minutes.

Re: Funniest things you've seen in The Show (Laughter is good for you)

I think someone already posted about a player losing his grip and letting the bat fly into the stands...not laugh out loud funny, and probably more suited to the "little things" thread but I loved seeing that happen.

Same type thing (i.e., not laugh out loud funny, just amazing to see some of these real-life situations in the game) but in my last game Nelson Cruz took 3 straight balls from me, and on the fourth pitch it was borderline...probably a ball, and he started his trot down to first, but the ump called it a strike and called him back into the batter's box, the look on his face was priceless.

I'd love to see it the other way as well. I remember many years ago, probably early or mid 80s, Nolan Ryan was the starting pitcher in the All-Star game, got two easy outs (probably Ks but I don't remember), on the third batter he strikes the guy out looking, Ryan and the catcher were already headed off the field (it was so clearly a strike), but the ump calls it a ball instead. Everybody has to reset, Nolan was out of rhythm at that point, and if I recall correctly gave a up a couple of hits or maybe even surrendered some runs (like I said--long time ago).

But, the point being...pitcher and catcher think it's a strikeout to close the inning and they start to walk off, ump says comeback because it was a ball...very situational would have to be a close 3rd strike that was taken, as the third out of an inning, and probably only with no one on base otherwise after the catcher tosses the ball down the runners could advance.

I'll post the pictures of these later:

[1] Opposing bench player sitting on the mound while I am in the field. He was there for one pitch.

[2] A woman behind the plate wearing a flesh colored shirt. That's one way to distract the pitcher.

[3] Some type of mess up, where the runner ran directly from 3rd base to the dugout, but could not run through the dugout fence. My catcher had to run over and tag him out.

[4] Comebacker to my pitcher, hits his leg and bounces over the netting behind home plate. The game must have considered it a foul ball, and froze up. Restart.

Re: Funniest things you've seen in The Show (Laughter is good for you)

After staging a mega-comeback last night to tie up a game 6-6 against SanDiego, found myself trailing 8-6 going into the 8th.

Okay, at this point, I'm frustrated.

Pat Burrell comes up for me, and all hope for a victory feels lost.

I hit a can of corn to LF and actually set my controller down to stand up (I did not place this controller down gently, either! LOL!). I collected my thoughts for a sec, in order to calm myself for my next at bat.

Low and behold, I sit back down...and there's Pat Burrell standing on first. Huh?

Off to the replay. Come to find out, SanDiego's LF let the pop fly just eat him all up. E7. He just dropped it.

Not only was the dropped ball funny, but MY obliviousness to this entire situation is really what makes this game special. You can never take any play for granted. Obviously now, it makes sense that there was an error. But at the time, I literally had NO idea what had happened.

I hit a ball which looked like it went straight to the backstop, but the play was still going which I couldn't understand. So I go to the replay and I had hit the ball so fast right off the pitching rubber that it bounced back over the catcher and umpire all the way to the backstop. Weirest replay I've ever seen, wish I woulda saved it.

This was in 10, but Joe Mather hit a foul ball that went straight down off the plate, then rolled around the batter's box. After about 5 seconds, it barely tapped his foot, and he fell down and rolled around like he had been shot. Then Hudler started talking about how much those hurt, even though there is no way that could have hurt him.
