LOL!! I haven't seen anything like this (hitting your own player/collisions/etc. when playing defense).

Okay I'm going to tell my story from last night. My starter & the Cardinals' starter went 5 innings each I believe. 4 to 4. We go back and forth using pinch hitters (NL rules) to try to get that winning run. It was 2 AM when I started and said 'oh I can play a quick game before bed'. 18 innings later Carlos Gonzalez for the Cardinals finally jacked a solo shot in the bottom of the inning.

I had my starter get hurt in warm-ups and Joel Zumaya got hurt after his first pitch coming in to relief. Just a weird game. I was going to pinch hit for my last reliever in the top of the 19th and just have a fielder pitch because I was out of pitchers besides my starters.

I went to bed at 4 AM...

One of my home runs in my RTTS gave me a little chuckle. I think the stadium was Main Street Field or whatever (the one with the very short wall in RF). I lined one that way and the RF gave chase and went up to the wall, but he gave up on the ball and just by the wall facing the crowd, resting both arms on the rail. The wall came down and bounced off his glove for the home run, followed by the player shaking his head after the play.

This wasn't funny at the time cause it cost me a game but anyway, Adrian Beltre hasn't made an error all year....I'm up 4-3 vs. The Phils in my first interleague game. Ryan Howard singles. Dominic Brown comes up and hits a routine, taylor made double play ball to Beltre. So I'm thinking easy 2 right here but WOOPS!!! Right under his glove.

So then Ben Francisco flys out to shallow center. So one out men on 1st and 2nd. Backup catcher Dane Sardina is up. Working him down and away....he pulls off and hits another taylor made dp ball to Beltre. Now I take a deep breath knowing that this is going to end the game.....Beltre fields it cleanly and throws to 2nd but WOOPS!!!! He throws it 20 ft over Kinslers head and the ball rolls all the way to the corner in right field. One run in and 2 runs in, PHils win.

Unbelievable!!! Funny now because Beltre hadn't made an error all year but all of the sudden gets nervous and cost me the game.

Re: Funniest things you've seen in The Show (Laughter is good for you)

          1. I had an infield single where the ball was hit to the first baseman, and he was pretty close to the bag to begin with. He runs to the bag, and there's a point where he looks like he can reach the bag with his foot if he just takes one more step. The baserunner was still a ways off (at least a few big strides) at that point, so it's an easy out, right? Instead of taking one big stride, he makes what appeared to be 3 tiny little baby steps. It almost looked like he ran to the bag and decided to taunt the baserunner by tap-dancing for a second before touching the bag, sort of like a football player who breaks away for an easy touchdown and slows down before crossing the goalline just to mess with the defense. The baserunner barely beats him to the bag. It was ********.

          2. Had a play where I hit a grounder to the shortstop pretty deep in the hole. The's guy's momentum is carrying him to the outfield when he fields it, so he has to make one of those risky throws. It pulls the 1B off the bag toward the homeplate side. The game has that built-in animation where a 1B, in those situations, will move off the bag to catch the ball and simply apply the tag to the baserunner on his way to 1st. But he sticks his glove out at stomach-level only to find I'm sliding into first base and ducking under the tag. What's funny is I do this a couple times a game accidentally (must still be holding the sticks from when I guessed pitch or whatever) and I just happened to do it in that spot where it saved me from being tagged.

          3. Hit a ball right up the middle back at the pitcher. Standard stuff -- either he fields it, it squirts through, or it hits the pitcher and bounces away, right? No. Finds its way through Boof Bonser's legs, only to hit the pitching rubber at just the right angle so it shoots back to the catcher in a high arcing rainbow. The catcher has to stand there and wait forever for it to come down. No time to throw me out at first by the time he fields it.

          4. In my Braves franchise, in year 1, the Indians made some funny trade logic flip-flops. In May, they offer me Sizemore and a pitcher for A-prospect Randall Delgado. So they're in re-building mode, right? Wrong. In July, they trade Delgado to the Marlins for a spare part vets and Ben Sheets (who they literally had just picked off the scrap heap in free agency). So they're in win-now mode, not interested in youngsters anymore, right? No, because then they trade for Bryce Harper from the Nats. Oh, so now they're back to building for the future? No, because then they trade their stud prospect Chisenhall for an older Aramis Ramirez. And also pick up old vet Johnny Damon. Odd.

Looking at this thread, this "ball bouncing hard off the pitching rubber to backstop" thing happens quite often. I've seen this a few times already.

When the bounced ball is within the playable area, the play goes on. But when the ball goes somewhere in the foul territory and no fielder can field it, sometimes this leads to the game freezing (for which bug reports have been filed).

I hit a deep fly to center in my RTTS, ball bounced off the center fielders glove and over the wall.

Caught a fairly routine flyball in right field with Mitch Moreland last night. On the replay Karros commented "shades of Jim Edmonds right there".

Royals(me) vs Yankees, 2 outs. Phil Hughes unleashes a wild pitch to the backstop but stay behind home plate. Billy Butler moves on to third and apparently decides "LETS DO THIS!", chugs around third and heads for the plate. Hughes, covering home, gets the throw from Martin with Butler still about halfway down the line. Hughes is waiting on Butler and puts the tag down as he slides. HE MISSES THE TAG AND BUTLER SCORES! Royals go up 4-0.

Phil Hughes seems to be in a lot of these funny moments. I have another as now he was pitching against me since I didn't resign him in the offseason...

3 batters in a row, I kid you not, line drives back at him and they all hit him in the left shin. Every single time he gets the ball and throws to first to get the out. Guy has tough shins apparently, stayed in the game and went 8 innings to beat me.

Odd.. if you link me I'd love to take a look. Was going to say maybe there's something coded in so you can't throw them out from the outfield but there's situational things where you have the fielder's in... I don't know. Must have been the ump that blew that perfect game last year
