I must say, I've seen some crazy retirements.

Playing through 2011 with multiple RTTS guys, I've seen the following:

- Rickie Weeks and Hanley Ramirez retiring due to injury (both suffered 6+ months injuries fairly late in the year, both in the same one RTTS career)
- Placido Polanco retiring due to age, more than once (he's 35)
- Thome, Wakefield, Rivera, Posada & Chipper Jones NOT retiring, more than once (although all of these did retire one or more times in the play-throughs).
- multiple SP in their early 30s retiring due to injury, several of which I knew to have elbow or shoulder injuries (Tommy John candidates)


I guess really only the Weeks/Ramirez thing and Polanco are the real surprises there, but still, seeing that retirement list is always interesting. And it definitely changes, at least in RTTS, it isn't locked in, because I've reloaded a save made right before I clicked Begin Offseason, and gotten different results (as an experiment).

I've always wondered if you save before going to retirements whether it would change. Thanks for trying that, hopefully I can get it to retire the players I'd like...like not Rivera or Derek GIDPJeter.

Someone will chime in right after me with more precise info, but apparently, if you save right before the player draft, the results of that have a lot to do with who retires.
Something to that effect.

I definitely agree with you on the retirement issue. Very frustrating to see The Captain (refering to Derek Jeter not Knight ) retire at age 38 while Rivera Is still playing at 44.


On a side note after reading through the first page of the thread I never saw someone challenge the mighty words of God.... i mean knight like that. gave me a good chuckle
