The rising fastball at 94 coupled with the 89 Cutter is working magic. Today I went through J.J. Hardy, Markakis, and Vlad. 2 saves in a row!!!

I for the life of me, can't pitch with Mo. I refuse to take him out of the closer role, out of respect, even in a video game I can't do it. I always used to go with cutters up and in, but noticed that it never has that break that it should have. I went with 4 seam fastballs up and in recently, and all of them ended up in the middle of the plate, and shot out of the park. So, I started going with a lot more low and in cutters, and have had a bit more luck. Next, I'm definitely going to try to mix in more 2 seamers, I usually never touch it.

Another thing I picked up on a while ago: Don't rush his delivery. You need to make sure he does the 3 toe tap thing and bring his hands all the way up before throwing the pitch. I usually get much better control with patience this way.

You can also slightly vary the speeds if using meter pitching by throwing some in the yellow, and some in the red. This may or may not work, lol I need to practice it more.

I just wanted to say that I think adding a slider or anything else to his pitch repertoire is kinda lame.. I do understand what people mean when they say he doesn't perform per his real life performance, but I blame that on myself. He's a unique pitcher.

It was driving me nuts too. Mo was blowing saves left and right. I maxed his clutch and cutter control sliders and was still getting thumped, but i was always either filling the pitch meter or filling it half way. Since I started barely filling the pitch meter, he has been the Mo we know and love. Even getting the commentator to finally start talking about the Mo we know and love. And yes...I use his cutter mostly. Anyhow..hope this helps.

BTW..I had the same problem for some reason with Sabathia, but now he pitches much more true to his self. I do mix the fill on the pitch meter for him, but only after ahead in the count.

Thank you, I don't like the idea of Rivera with a slider. Jason_19 from OSFM Variation Sets thread implemented a splitter which I found interesting but didn't go with. I just went with the rising fastball. Changed top speed on it to 93, 2-seam to 91, cutter to 89. First game worked but we will see.

yeah, i use his set, i noticed the splitter... but i think it's because he sees that type of moment in Mo's pitching... regardless of what this pitch is named in the game. also, fyi to others i dont want maybe to be confused.... the splitter assignment also is not there in his set to give Mo something offspeed like the slider suggestion.

Yeah Jason_19 and I talked about it. I just think that's the purpose of the 2-seam FB, it acts like a sinker to induce grounders. I needed something lateral just like the cutter. To me I wasn't feeling a slider, rising FB has worked exceptionally.

Perfect! I got to 600, 601, and 602. However, I noticed the absense of a notification or celebration. Started up a thread on it as well. Very dissapointed, but Rivera is now pitching like Rivera so I'm happy on that end.

I have exactly the same problem with Jose Valverde, 2 blown saves in 4 attempts, and ive always struggled with him, cant locate his fastball at all.

Still...ill get there.

I got the trick down now, of course I'm playing on Veteran. I'm sure you are playing on All-Star or higher.

Here we go!!!! Sabathia vs. Verlander, Rivera vs. Valverde, Cano vs. Miggy, Granderson returns to Detroit, Austin Jackson returns to New York...bring on Detroit!
