Re: What are u looking for in MLB the show 12 ?

I will be happy with two things in franchise mode:

    - Managerial tendencies is a must. Every manager uses the same philosophy so you don't feel like you are playing the Angels, Cards, etc. We need to see the difference.

-We need teams to have identities. We need to see teams focus primarily on building from within (Royals), spending on top quality talent (Yanks), teams focusing on defense (Rays), etc. I would love to see teams like the Yanks get the best available guy while the A's seek those who fit their moneyball philosophy. We just need to see this now.
    Angels= 2025 World Series Champions!!

Re: What are u looking for in MLB the show 12 ?

To save time when building Legendary Rosters it would be helpful to have default selections like stirrup socks or no batting gloves etc.

Please add a "No Batting Helmet" selection for players that didn't wear a helmet.
Please add low profile stirrup socks if possible ...

One last thing give us a tool to create numbers that we can upload and download... I need Mickey Mantle to have number 7 on his back...

      Thanks,
      scoot...

I'm looking for better commentary and presentation. Both are very stale and boring. The gameplay is good, but until these guys at SCEA understand it's more than gameplay only. More stats overlays with player comparisons, team and league stats. Commentary that goes into the stats and talk about the team and players. This is what needed. This is where MLB2k series does a really good job at. I love the graphics of MLB the SHOW, but it's more than that as well. Get your commentary and presentation up too date MLB12.

Playoff presentation. The crowd needs to be louder and it just needs to feel more like a playoff atmosphere.

They also need to fix the closer role in RTTS. It's just broken. You can save 50/50 one year and the next year you're neglected to be the setup man.

            Amen on the first...
...but on the second...do you mean ELECTED to be the setup man?....and is it at another level or do you mean the same level.
If another level(especially MLB)...I can see that as long as you are at some time put as the closer ....if not...you should include that in the thread that has the RTTS improvements.....for CD before release.

I guess he meant it so that there would be a comma after "neglected", as in you are both neglected as a player, and stuck as a set-up man.

Anyway I can't remember if I've already posted in this topic or not, but I would also like to see Roster Mode fixed so that we have fewer restrictions on player movement (I'm talking about the core Roster Management tool, outside of any franchise/RTTS/whatever mode). It amazes me that the guys in this community are willing to work on that OSFM roster, because I wanted to shoot myself in the face just updating a single team (the Mets). Not being able to do one-sided trades or mass player-releases and all that other stuff is a humungous inconvenience.

My guess is that SCEA intends the game to be the most realistic representation of the "current MLB season" and not much more. Well, it is obviously much more than that in reality because of Knight and all the roster guys, but perhaps the reason why there are relatively few customization options for setting up teams/leagues could be because the devs don't want to put resources into making something that ends up being unrelated to MLB. Maybe that's necessary to keep endorsement from MLB... I don't know. Hope I'm wrong.

I think it just has much more to do with coding. Specifically the checks in place that try and keep "invalid" rosters from happening. The game is written with a specific code in place for # of guys on each roster...and at each position(which occasionally gets skewed down the line... even WITH checks in place).
I think SCEA has just been trying to minimize problems with that. Could they remove it...probably. I think they just figure it's more trouble than it's worth honestly.

Maybe removing that sort of limitation isn't straightforward when it can screw up game balance... I haven't played deep into any franchise but unless the devs are really overhauling the roster management aspect of the game, we may be better served by improving trade logic/management AI and all that stuff people are talking about, under the current system.

However, things like changing team/league names won't affect a lot of things... they are after all just names right. Like you just want to have the Montreal Expos instead of the Nats when you wanna play with an 80s roster... All it takes is for the devs to add a user interface to change them, which haven't been done (not that I'm critical of it... it's just that way right now). (Of course, the audio might need to accommodate such changes... how should announcers call the team when the name gets changed?? That's another aspect I guess... sticking to realism while giving us options isn't so straightforward after all...)

I'm just wondering if the devs need to have some commitment to MLB by recreating how it looks like now and sticking to it, and otherwise MLB wouldn't let them use the trademark "MLB" for the game, for example.

I think you're talking along the lines of a custom league setup....something I've been asking for ....for quite some time.
They do have it for online custom leagues right now. Not perfect....but something I hope they eventually get in to offline franchise/season mode. I THINK....we may see it eventually.

Yeah I hope it gets in as well... the game is too good a baseball sim to go without it. Hope there isn't any "legal" aspects of things that prevent the devs to do it in future...

If you've seen the custom online league setup....it's pretty open. Fantastic except for the schedule generator and some bugs that messed with playoffs(I think...I didn't really play it)

I was just talking along the lines of mass roster management tools, or at least more efficient options. Of course you'd know better than anyone, but it's a huge pain trying to manage your own rosters with the current setup, at least in comparison to older games and other games out there. I get the argument for checks and balances, but there's no reason they have to be applied every step of the way.

They could set it up to where you are given free reigns to easily move players everywhere, BUT, that a mass-check is applied when you're done, and you don't get to leave the roster sub-menu (or save) until your rosters meet the game's specifications.
