    Re: MLB '12 The Show- FRANCHISE-MANAGE ONLY MODE-EDITOR suggestions/improvements

I've reported this bug (post #183) the last two years and I'd like to see it fixed (I don't think it was addressed in any of the patches this year). Basically when you start a franchise with a fantasy draft, AI teams have a ridiculous amount of cash available post-draft, while your team has a more normal amount. It gives AI teams an unfair advantage.

      Re: MLB '12 The Show- FRANCHISE-MANAGE ONLY MODE-EDITOR suggestions/improvements

-Expanding on accessory options for players

-More hair, beard, etc options for CAPs (and perhaps the ability to edit those for MLB players, though I understand if MLB restrictions play a role in this)

-Coaches: Hire and fire whenever we want (within budgetary reasoning, of course) and the ability to edit them would be awesome.

-Injuries: maybe allow for recurring injuries or lingering effects. If it eventually led to guys being more injury prone do to repetition, that would be great (I realize that last aspect is more "wishlist"...just tossing it out there)

-Make the morale have greater effect. It should be harder to resign guys who hate how you're using them.

-More realistic budgets. A tweak to allow for big and small market teams, etc would be great (maybe make it an option for those who prefer not to be concerned with budgets).

-Editable potential and maybe make it less "hard wired" (there's been some progress there, I think-just continue to expand on that)

In Roster Control, I'd like the ability to conduct one-way transactions. Currently there is no way to simply release a player, or simply sign a player. There is no way to do 2-for-1 trades or anything like that. This makes it extremely tedious and difficult for those of us that like to create and manage our own roster files.

          Two major gripes:
          1. Trade logic - In every franchise several CPU teams will put their best reliever on the block, then ask for relief pitching in return. I also don't like seeing a team trade Harper or some other A prospect for a declining 35+ veteran or a star player for three scrubs
          2. In 2010, when you did a fantasy draft, the teams real-life budget was used, but in 11, you automatically started off with the same budget as everyone else, usually $60-70 mill in payroll. Is it possible to go back using real budgets for fantasy draft franchises/seasons?

One thing Knight that I have talked with you about in the past:

Having the pitcher confidence reset if you do an in game save is the #1 reason I have never finished a 162 game sason. Please ask them if it can save at the same point once you start the game up again. Thanks for all you guys do!

              * Franchise mode, allow for contract negotiation and firing managers during the season.

              * Manager mode is great except for computer taking over sometimes for the human manager.

              * In the dream category, something unlikely to happen, allow for building your own franchise and stadium in franchise mode.

There are 2 for and 3 for 1 trades now.
They may be tough to get through but they're in.(in franchise mode)

Good call on the in season contract negotiations for players. I forgot about that on my early list to Kolbe.
I hope they can get that in. I hate waiting on my upcoming FA's until the off season to figure out my strategy for the "winter meetings".

                    Re: MLB '12 The Show- FRANCHISE-MANAGE ONLY MODE-EDITOR suggestions/improvements

                    1) It would be nice to try and find some ways to tweak stamina, yet still. A guy like Prince Fielder can play all 162 games while still performing at a semi-consistent level year round. That doesn't mean he doesn't get tired, or he doesn't take a pitch or two off, but he can still go the entire way. Basically what I'm saying is, if Cal Ripken was in this game, what could the development team do to make a working player stamina system that covers all kinds of players and what kinds of time off they need?

I think the best solution is to make two stamina bars: one for the season, and one for the game itself. Heck, you could probably make three stamina bars if you want to include the week as well. This could at least show what kind of actual game rest they need, as opposed to overall seasonal fatigue.

                    2) I think that player/team history is of major importance, and would be nice to be recognized a little more in video games.

For instance, has a player won the MVP? Gold Glove? Made the All Star team? Has a World Series ring? Was plagued with a season-ending injury? Moved to the starting rotation? How high has they salary been? I'd like to see some of those kinds of instances shown in large when you go to a player's stats. It would even be nice to see what teams they had played for in the past.

Then at the same time, I think that team history bears the same kind of weight. How many playoff/WS appearances have you made? What kind of moves did you and other teams make (say hello to the e-mail system)? How many players on your team won any kind of individual player awards? What kind of coaching hiring/firings have you made?

No offense, but after one season ends, the only thing that really carries over are career numbers. You can dog it out in the playoffs, get knocked out in the ALCS, and only find yourself falling flat in Game 6... and there is zero recognition heading into the next year. There really aren't any sports video games that attempt to include this kind of history. Hopefully, someday, they'll make it a big event when they decide to add it.

                    3) Simple sounding, but really not so much... I do hope that someday we can import franchises from previous games. I understand the ramifications involved make this process difficult, if not impossible. I just hope that someday this becomes a reality. It would make my decision to buy the next year's game even more than automatic if I knew I could continue my same franchise, year in and year out.

Most things I would look for have already been mentioned so I won't repeat them. I'd like to see a pitchers pitch count and strike % be part of the boxscore. This way we can get an overall idea of how long our starter can go in each game over the season.

This would also help knowing how many pitches the other teams starter will throw before you can get him out of the game.

I realize we have the stamina bar in game but if the bullpen is overused, I'd like to know how many pitches I will get out of my next starter. It would be nice if we could see the stamina bars in the roster screen and not just at the start of the game.

Also, if they could put homerun distance in the boxscore, this too would be nice. For some reason this year, alot of the time it doesn't tell you how far a ball traveled. I've crushed some balls this year and I hate not knowing how far they went. If not in the boxscore, atleast let the replay vault tell you how far it traveled.

Last thing, give us the choice whether a player will wear stirrups or sox even when using the oldtime uniforms. I've been playing as the Orioles and I like to wear their old uniforms but I hate stirrups so I change all players to long pants.

Another things my friends and I would REALLY love to see is a LHB RHB rating for pitchers.

For example, some pitchers dominate lefties and are absymal against righties. In this instance the rating should be high for LHB and very low for RHB..again I'm talking about the pitchers ratings.

Also, while this may never be added, I would love to choose bat size/weight in the customization section. Obviously, smaller/lighter bats would have quicker bat speed but lose a lot of power where as bigger/heavier bats would have much more power but lose quite a bit on bat speed.

One last thing is we always hoped that when a reliever comes into the game, his fastball gets a few mph added on. For example if pitcher X usually sits 92-94 as a starter and you decide to bring him out of the pen, I would love to see him sit at 95-96.

Again, thanks for taking your time to listen to us! You guys are the best!

Unfortunately I haven't been able to get to playing a full-blown franchise season myself yet... thinking I'd ran out of ways to enjoy the game and they haven't..... by the time I start one probably '12 will be out.

To really enjoy the franchise aspect, I'd really love to see improvements in stats areas. I enjoy accumulating and looking at historical stats, how they change over years, etc. I think that's part of being a fan of a particular franchise. Currently, we have few ways of reminiscing and looking back the history.... But that would be wishlist items and not called for here I guess.

One thing that could be improved within the current scheme is the way all the numbers (ratings, stats) are accessed within the game. Outside the gameplay mode, we have that player card thing which is accessible almost everywhere, which is nice (though perhaps you could make it more informative by not trying to make it look like a baseball card... could use more space). For individual players that is good enough but when you are managing the whole team, I'd like the interface to access the player info that I want to see to be consistent so that I can expect them to find where I know them to exist. Quite often, partial info like *some* player attributes/stats are shown, but not the rest; for example during the gameplay quick access menu, you can see power and contact easily but not others like PDisp/PVis. Quite often I forget how to access the info I want to see because interfaces are not uniform in different parts of the game.

Instead of scattering info like that, it would be more helpful if there is one (and only one) interface that we can access easily (maybe via hot bar) that list all relevant players, and see *all* stats and attributes for those players. This could be something based on the current "roster control" player list, but you can also access stats, attributes, etc., etc. Don't know if it's reasonably feasible without needing to do a lot of scrolling, but my main thing is having the once interface to access *all* player info. This would make it easier to know and manager players.

It would be nice if we can do filtering on the list via various criteria... teams, handedness, certain attribute value range, names, etc., etc. Something of a master player table like that would be nice...)

Also, some ways to save retired player info would be nice, maybe not now but if the career/year-by-year stats are already improved.

For CAPS, ways to record numbers for some body/facial features, not just visual coordinate would be nice. I wanted to transfer myself from MLB 10 to 11 in my RTTS and it was a chore to do because I can only do via reading off visual coordinates for some attributes.

That got me remember roster/season import (from previous version of the Show) would be very welcome if not mentioned already.

A couple of things I'd like to see added to improve the realism of the day-to-day realism of the MLB franchise.

                                1. Injury Management and Effect

While I think the addition of "manuel" injuries is as great a gift to the real-life simulators in any games history, injuries and their effect have a huge effect on the season.

Not always are injuries cut and dry, with an immediate decision of whether or not to be placed on the disabled list. I would like to see a scenario where a player can attempt to play through an injury, with hits taken to his attributes.

Ex. Grady Sizemore tweaks his knee, he could decide to play through the injury because it is not necessarily bad enough to require him to sit. Have it effect his game in the proper ways, make his ability to turn on inside pitches go down, have his speed and steal frequency go down, ect.

Should you choose to put Sizemore on the DL, allow the user to send said player on a minor league rehab assignment. Allow the user to choose which minor league team you wish your player to rehab with, and allow them to choose the amount of games they will play. Also, you could have them to some amount of games with Double-A, some with Triple-A.

This may seem tedious and tough to facilitate, but would add an unbelievable amount of realism to those fans who want to run their franchise as any MLB team would do.

The decisions teams make with injuries can effect their play for the duration of their season, it should be present in that players statistics and ability levels. It just makes sense if you'd like the utmost sense of realism in this game.

                                2. Player Roles

Taking a page out of the Madden book, no player in Major League Baseball is different and each has a specific role on their team.

This will be most important in the pitching rotation.

Allowing the user to set roles such as LOOGY and long-man will make the simulators much more realistic. Granted, some of those guys go outside their roles in games where score is out of hand or they're in a position to eat innings. This could also be worked in as well.

Also, in conjunction with player roles...very very few relievers have the ability to go 3.0 innings at a time and the simulations need to reflect that. Not necessarily a 'player role' problem, just something I've noticed playing the game.

I'm sure I'll think of more, but this is all I got for now. Glad SCEA opens this discussion up to fans and actually listens.

The Show is truly the best sports game franchise ever from a QUALITY standpoint, I hope we'll make the next edition even better.
