Just as the case with Pared's gameplay thread.......there will be a focus group of players from O.S. and other places attending an event prior to the release of MLB 12 The Show.

This is a chance to TRY and get in to the game and try to reinforce the ideas of us...the guys who play the game.....to the devs. They are VERY open to our thoughts, ideas and suggestions of how the game direction should go.
Of course, we must realize that not everything can get done and frankly some of our suggestions are just not the direction the way the devs want to take the game(rare)....but as I said....they want to hear from us(as evidenced by the TWO events they hold every year for us to get a sneak peek at the game).

I will be focusing on an area of the game that definitely needs tweaking as a lot of us have discussed here. FRANCHISE MODE.
I will also see what can be done in MANAGE ONLY MODE(as a subset of franchise I suppose)
....and finally I will also try and work with the guys who control the EDITOR in the game.(I will also try and see to UNIFORMS, as this is part of the editor.. Keep in mind that what SCEA puts in the game as far as uni's is restricted to the MLB STYLE GUIDE(I know you guys don't want to hear it...but....it's there. Uni's are not my forte, but I'll do my best....perhaps another attendee will jump on it too)

Keep it concise and if you can use bullet points
Eg:
- this this and this needs to be worked on
-that could use attention
-I wish this could be added

As this format makes it MUCH easier to compile the ideas from each post.

I know that you have been working hard with the developers that last couple years, and it sounds like they have a good plan of where they want franchise mode to go. Just to reiterate some of my ideas:



- Make trades into more of a process:

• Trade feedback
• Counter Trades

- More in depth contracts:

• No-trade clauses
• Performance bonuses

- Editor(if possible):

• Different level of bagginess for jerseys, like there currently is for the pants
• Different "styles" of cleats or gloves

• Create a custom team to replace or be added to any division
• Custom stadium builder option
• Real expansion draft

-Needs work
Franchise menus

• Player growth screens would be nice so you could easily see how your players are progressing through training
• Trade screens need to be more intuitive and a make this trade work button (like ootp) would be nice.

• More historical player stats to view, also, career stats from each year that include for which team he played each year.

Franchise Mode Interface Overhaul

A new look to the whole shebang would go a long way into making it feel fresh, which is a good start.
The menus this year were given a boost but the skeleton was the same as past years. Time for a refresh.

Player Roles

Ok so we all know Jeter would never sign a 5 year contract with the Cardinals, [as he did in my Franchise in 10 ], but in the Show he can because the game has no idea who Jeter is, hes just an aging shortstop with slightly declining numbers. But if a Player Role system was in place ala the last gen Madden series and now Madden 12, things like that could be avoided.
Giving Jeter the Franchise Player tag, it could signify him as untouchable or a player who will listen to the Yankees offer only.

A deeper look into maddens player roles will give an idea what the devs might be able to implement in the Show.

Imagine AJ Burnett with the 'hot/cold' role. You never know which one will show up each start.


Headlines

Ala 2k's baseball and basketball games, give us a deep and invlving headline page as well as a fake 'team website' for all the teams so u can peruse team leaders, rumors and milestones.

In the Show you are so far removed from the rest of the league its crazy.
Madden doesnt have this feature but in a 16 game season its not so bad, but in a 162 grind its tough to take.

Imagine roy halladay throws a no-no on may 3rd, or Pujols hits 4 ding dong daddy's in a game.
You have no idea it happened.
you feel like one team alone in the whole scheme of things.

Example: I played the red sox early in a season, they were undefeated after a handful of games. there was no mention by the announcers, let alone anywhere in the menus did it mention the red sox hot start.

FYI guys these threads need to be about 90% fixes, re-balancing and tweaks to existing features. When the game visits us our feature set will be locked, so this isn't a team for "wishlist" types of ideas. We recorded all that info around May.

Ok.

Fixes:

- Fix Franchise Mode.
- Fix the way trades work. I offered some very fair deals and included positions teams needed to fill, and I still didn't get the trade - this occured the whole year up until the TD.

- Free Agency needs some tweaking. I tried signing Longoria to a 4 year deal, and he decided to sign with the Orioles, who offered him a 2 year deal worth 4 million dollars. There's something seriously wrong with that.

- Presentation. Just re-do the whole thing. Please?!

What I'd like to see:

- New menus, new anything to make it seem like I'm not still submerged in MLB 10. This is it for now.

* Fix coaches

A pitching coach should never be hired as a hitting coach or vice versa. Give coaches specific attributes for their position. Even if Dave Duncan becomes a manager he still is only going to help pitchers and let his hitting coach handle the hitters. Same with hitting coaches.


This may be more of a new feature but allow us to edit coaches as well. Especially #'s. If I can't assign a play a retired number I don't want to see my 3rd base coach wearing a retired number.

Allow us to "reassign" coaches. 3B coach to manager, etc. without having to fire them first.

* Fix stats

To many unearned runs being counted as earned runs, hits being counted as outs because there is a throwing error after the player reaches base, etc.

Coaches:

-Allow us to fire them mid season.

Players/Trading Logic:

-Assign Player Roles/Player Personality. That way a top prospect won't be traded 3 times in a season (Bryce Harper in my game went from Washington to Oakland, to Chicago to Detroit).

Other than that, I guess just tune things up. In my 250-300 games I have played, I have not noticed much other than the dreadful trade logic.

Maybe add some league news around the league similar to how MLB 2k11 does. Add more immersion and make it feel more like I am following my baseball all year, instead of just playing my team's games and having no idea what else is going on in the league.

Just one suggestion....

- Ability to trade players for PTBNL or for Cash Considerations.

Many times this happens in real life. In order to copy it in Franchise, you either have to trade a no name player or do multiple trades.

Unless Im missing something, this is not an option in MLB11. (???)

While I agree with everything above, these also should be added...

Trading:

• Able to make 3 team team trades
• Able to trade more than 3 players at a time
• Trade finder

Free Agents:

• More realistic contract requests/offers
• Minor league contracts
• Give opt-out clauses to minor leaguers
• Get draft picks for players that sign with other teams that would qualify as type A or B
• Have buyouts
• Have actual options that you can exercise, and able to have multiple options

Draft:

• More rounds
• More players
• Better scouting report, with made up college/high school stats
• Better contract negotiations with draft picks
• Able to give major league deals to draft picks

Other:

• In-season contract negotiations
• Able to fire manager/coaches and general manager, and hire new ones
• Able to take batting and fielding practice

Yes...sorry, I should have made this more clear. The table is mostly set already.
I just figured that something not in the game now, may have been added and something someone suggests in this thread may overlap onto something new or changed.

The game has some pretty good options for pant styles in the game, but I think that we should have some more options.


- First picture. We need this pant style. The pants are loose fitting, but they do not go past the top of the shoe.

- Second picture. I would like to see low, 4' stirrups. This would probably require an option for low top shoes.

- Even if more pant/socks options are not added, the Cardinals stripes need to be fixed. They need to be higher, toward or on the calf. Not under it.

- I would also love to see the Rays and Giants stripped socks in the game as well. The MLB obviously doesn't really care if teams follow the style guide in accordance with socks. Otherwise the Giants would be more consistent with stripes or non stripes.

Let's make Paul Lukas proud and add the Rays and Giants stripes.

- More authentic throwbacks would also be nice. The Cards '82 home white and road blues and the 1944 uni's would be cool.

Coaching:

Fire coaches mid season/interim managers/hire managers
Create coaches- probably too late....

Presentation:

More ESPN looking ticker, show transactions and call ups
Add new commentary...Doesn't have to be a ton, just freshen it up a bit
New intros- maybe too late, but we've had the same intro music and animations for a long time now
Team intros- make special intros for stadiums. Places like Wrigley or Fenway would be more historical while newer stadiums would be focused mainly on the stadium itself and not the surrounding area like the historical ones.

Franchise mode specific:
Tighten up the call ups for prospects. If a team is struggling they should actually rebuild and use young players if their a small market team
Trade logic- too many times I saw Bryce Harper get traded in June.
3 way team trades
Player to be named later in trade and cash considerations
Reserves for minor league teams
Larger Class A system so we can have pretty close to every player in the game
Better minor league roster management


That's all I can think of right now, there's a ton of little things though. Some of these aren't possible but I just thought I'd throw them out there so I had at least a little bit more than nothing. ha
