Re: MLB 12 The Show Screenshots - Your New Default Camera View and Other Tidbits
It's not a question of respect or disrespect, it's a question of information. Again, this is free feedback they are getting here, information that fifteen years ago they could only dream about getting, information that sheds invaluable light on the work they are doing...
However...
In the end, I'd rather have these guys on the boards than not. They are not just kind developers, they are kind people. They are my friends much like a lot of users here are, and like I would prefer to not see certain members here leave (I lost a lot of good friends here), I'd rather not see the developers leave either. They come on here for no extra cash on their paycheck, and if they feel these message boards are not worth their time, they will leave.
That's how it is for all of us, but they really have one direct focus here.
I see what you're saying (again, neither here nor there), but it's the end result that matters the most IMO.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

The term "blind praise" always seemed to make me chuckle.
Has no solid meaning really. And almost a term adopted by those looking to have negative connotations or pessimistic spin.
(Not saying you Blzer, but seeing a lot who have to go out of their way to have condescending or "calling out" in a negative way, use such term to slam people who try and be optimistic.)
I would love to see examples of such a term. Really!
Because personally, "blind praise" sounds much easier on the eyes, whatever it is, than deliberate ******* postings.
Why "optimism" bothers people so much, where they feel the need to be the barons of negativity because of such posts is baffling to say the least.Last edited by EnigmaNemesis; 01-03-2012, 01:09 AM.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

Well, it's not so much that people complain, it's the things they complain about. Like, in this instance, the score overlay. I remember a few years back people going on and on about not having eye black. Friggin' eye black.A screaming comes across the sky...Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show Screenshots - Your New Default Camera View and Other Tidbits
They do say "all good things......"
I'm thinking that pretty soon, we'll be back to just discussing this game amongst ourselves, just like the good old days.
That should be AWESOME!
When that happens their sales will start to dwindle because they will have no clue what to fix (jk) besides what is on their lists from the public sessions they carry on for the mentally depleted. And that isn't much that I care about. Simple fact is if this team stops responding so do I just as I have done with every other sports franchise that went to the gutter.
Another thing is 60 dollars is a lot to quaff when it comes to gaming. I get most of my purchases for 5 bucks or so on Steam and those are full fledged games. The 60 dollar model is absolutely pathetic and totally makes buying games a hazard and for sports games even more so. I simply don't buy games unless they offer me my money's worth. And if things are not fixed at Target Field this game immediately becomes a 30 dollar purchase. I don't really whine much on here and I can see why some fans don't like that.
The NHL dev team though doesn't respond anymore and look at how their game turned out presentation wise. Pretty good game awful presentation and bugs.
Not listening to the fans has made their sports game average. Same with all the other ones. Madden started listening and lo and behold the game started getting better.
We help these guys more than they could ever get back any other way besides their own forums possibly. We also buy their game so....
I for one have no clue why grass patterns and the right stadium colors incl. dirt and grass and walls are not in this game. To me that stuff is very important. I could also say the same thing about the cluttered UI. It is getting ridiculous at this point. For them to say next year often means the fan says next year as well. And then we have the PS4 coming out so we could be waiting for some time if this game isn't up to par for some us.
The thing is I CAN wait. I have tons of games on PC and PS3 but that doesn't help the bottom end of Sony now does it?Last edited by khronikos; 01-03-2012, 04:19 AM.Comment

The bottom line is you are only one out of what, a couple hundred thousands of customers (don't remember how many copies usually get sold) who pay $60 to play this game. So the fact that you don't like the game and therefore don't purchase doesn't really hurt devs that much in general.
The sales will dwindle for the devs by not listening to you, only if your voice is representative of the vast majority of those who buy the game and brings a profit to the company.
And OS members likely are not representative of those who actually bring profits to the devs... That's why most other devs don't bother interacting with us, because they can still make enough money.
The devs can so easily choose to only satisfy the needs of the vast majority of gamers who don't give a **** about the stadium colors, all the small accessories, manage-mode, hiding all visual aids, whether the staidum roof closes, rain outs, whether the glove closes, being served chicken dinner, and so on and so on...
All those sports games that OS members complain about... They keep going strong sales wise regardless of how OS members think about them...
By losing the channel to directly interact with the devs, who would be on the losing side??
It will be us... We have a unique venue to interact with the devs who have ability and resource to create the game we actually want to pay $60 for... and we can have a bit of influence in the direction the game will be going in future... If that's not an opportunity to be thankful for then I don't know what is...
Why do the SCEA devs bother to value some of the feedback from here? Maybe their goal is in line with hardcore gamers here... we want the ultimate baseball game, they want to make one, and maybe they believe that will lead to a game that also appeals to their (real) target audience, who brings profits to SCEA... We don't know...
But the bottom line is, the devs don't necessarily need to value us, who constitutes such a tiny customer base. They can just shift their focus to keep their business going...
And what really prevents you to be just nice for little things, just to maintain a good rapport?? Okay, SCEA probably doesn't save lives in fires, that's not their job after all, that might have been too extreme an example for you.... But say when you invite your acquaintances to your chicken dinner party, don't you say "thanks for coming" or something to that effect anyways, even just for being courteous and socially adequate?
Or you say, "hey I cooked you dinner and invited you, I feel popular, so we are all equals here. (Do something and invite me next time, so we keep things equal on both sides, okay??)" Now that's weird and I don't want to live in that sort of neighborhood...Comment

Guys this needs to STOP being a referendum on dev interaction.
They do NOT get paid to interact with us on OS.
They CAN see anything we discuss without logging in and never talk to us again.
This (as has happened in other forums) is the problem. Having the devs here creates the problem making sure dialogue is open and fair... and then also the people who sign up because they know devs are here. But I love that they're here, and hope it stays that way for awhile.
It is up to the mod staff to make this a pleasant place for everyone as best we can. Devs and posters alike.
To do that, we have rules which you can find in the TOS thread in Steve's forum.
To me, the nice thing about having devs here isn't the "complicated" stuff we figure out- it's the simple things. Instead of stumbling through trying to figure out "what does this do?" for 327.2 posts while everyone labs it ...one of the devs can say "it does X."
Everyone is expected to follow the same rules here, which really are more about how to treat people than power. Be nice, even in disagreement and you'll be fine.
NOW BACK ON TOPIC. Don't even quote or respond to me.Last edited by ryan36; 01-03-2012, 01:45 PM.Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show Screenshots - Your New Default Camera View and Other Tidbits
Man those camera's are sweet!
But seriously, I cannot wait until we start to get more info leaked. CES in a week, I think that's where we get a lot of info. Last year we got some vids I think even with Russ in them. After not playing this game since like August, I am hooked on MLB 11 right now. I can't stop playing it.Comment
