I thought I'd give my best Blzer-like fashion by recording it as a video.

I wanted to display it for everyone though, because I would like to hear people's feedback (in the YouTube comments at least) on how it should actually be implemented. The good news is that they already have this kind of camera in place, so now it's a matter of getting it to work for regular gameplay.

My improvisational/multitasking speaking skills, as well as my Canadian accent, are very awful I'm afraid. You'll hear a lot of pauses, umms, and other things that are just filler while the game loads and while I try and play it and talk at the same time. I am also afraid that I say "oh-ten" near the beginning of the video, which kind of made me chuckle.

You've sold the new camera idea to me. I never paid attention to how different the fielding broadcast cameras are from real life to the Show. In fact, you could use this camera to field the ball on defense and to watch the ball while running the bases. I like it.

I like the broadcast camera, and other cameras for that matter...but one thing that has always bothered me was how the camera didnt always follow the ball, especially during a HR. It bothered me the most at Fenway.. if you hit a HR over the Monster, the camera would zoom into the middle or bottom of the wall.

        Has this been fixed?

Combine the fact that I wasn't looking through the camera when recording and I was only using one hand for it (the other one was controlling the game, and I was talking all the meanwhile, which you could tell I had trouble doing as well haha), so I still have all of my excuses lined up.

I have asked for this since the inclusion of the broadcast camera (technically since 09, since they gave us one in replays), and I will look for the thread where we talk about why one should be put in over the other, and I think most people thought that the way the camera is now is the best for gameplay, which I actually disagree with. We all have our opinions, which is why I would like to turn opinions into options. If they included this for gameplay, I think it would not only up the gameplay factor, but it would incredibly up the authenticity factor.

The main reason I wanted to bring this about it because they actually already have this camera in the game. If it wasn't in the game, the request would be much more dire. I think it can be possible for MLB 13 though.

Anyway, this is probably why EN wanted it through PM, so it didn't derail this thread... so if you want to talk more about it, feel free to comment on the YouTube video itself (unless a CD guy or developer wants to chime in on the possibility of this implementation happening).

They did do bug fixes however.
Thanks...so with the memory issue...safe to say it will be the same 512 songs and 180 chants/yells (or whatever it was) limits I guess.

Blzer, you took the words right out of my mouth with this video.

The new camera cuts look phenomenal, I just wish an in-game camera like you've described would have been added as well. It's one of the few things left that doesn't look true to TV broadcasts.

Kind of a weird question, but is lighting any different during day games this year? In the Show, it has always been extremely bright in terms of dirt/grass/sky. MLB 2k has had it perfect, the colors are more vibrant and feel much more authentic in terms of how Comerica Park really looks/feels in the day. But in the Show, theres a lot of bright, dull, colors to me. If that makes any sense.

Glad I saw this...yes I forgot to bring it up to Ramone. Trust me since I am color blind its impossible for me to decipher the pitches after they changed the color scheme.

I think each series has its problems. None feels totally more authentic than the other in this regard imo but there are things The Show CLEARLY does better in regard to lighting that you are somehow missing.

Shadows? Tones of the lighting? Things can seem bright but so they can in 2K as well. It is a stadium by stadium thing if you ask me. I think they may have tweaked the lighting. I do agree on things looking too bright at times and hope they can remedy that in the future.

I know that the lighting itself was quite wrong on many stadiums, (the shadows being cast) so that is something that could have been tweaked if they had time without redoing much.

I have never liked the lighting at night in this series, although it has improved.

                        I hate night lighting also.

Let me clarify. I think instead of lighting, I should say colors. In The Show, the sky is a VERY light blue. The grass is a very dull green. It's so bright that the dirt looks white in spots.

In the 2k (I'm remembering this from 2k8), the sky was a darker, warmer, shade of blue. The grass was darker and more vibrant. Those two things created the perfect atmosphere.

I've been Comerica a million times for day games, and I remember how authentic the 2k games felt. The atmosphere/appearence was PERFECT of how that stadium looks in real life.

But because of the overly bright/bland colors in the Show, it feels much more video game like. It's always bugged me, I never feel like I'm recreating real life opposed to playing a video game if that makes sense to you guys.

Unfortunately this the only photo I can find:

I might go pick this game up tomorrow for a dollar or two and try to get some screenshots.

I agree the lighting has always been slightly off, and the field textures have always bothered me too. They have made huge strides with the lighting, but honestly their are some bland spots in this game graphically. Especially at night.

When I go to a MLB park, most recently Camden Yards, I noticed two things the lushness (if that's a word) of the grass, and the lighting for night games. that beautiful glow that the lighting portrays off the players and the field. And that glow off the LED boards. It's like a beautiful movie in motion, the real thing of course.

This is still a beautiful game, but I would like a new lighting engine.

Right, at day games the thing that stands out the most is that beautiful, dark green grass. It like glows in the sun. It's awesome. And at night like you said, there is a glow to everything. It's equally as awesome.

In these games it feels like half of the light towers are out and you're playing in darkness.

Exactly, and it has always bothered me, and I doubt many people notice these things. I'm just really observant when I go to a ballgame. Lighting and jaggies in this series has always bugged me, small complaints for an incredible game, and my last beef, has to do with the hardware unfortunately.

This camera would be excellent. And it's cool to see I'm not the only who's thought of this (including how relatively "easy" it would be to include it since it already is in the game).
