It was a design decision. Not because it could not handle it. It could have handled it fine.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

Re: Community Day - VITA Version - Questions/Concerns/Inquiries
Actually I believe it was a design decision, nothing to do with power. The Vita actually has MORE memory than the PS3. After playing it, the way it is designed is perfect. Handhelds are designed to quickly get into and finish a game.Comment

Re: Community Day - VITA Version - Questions/Concerns/Inquiries
Well, I guess it's just one of those things where if limitation isn't an issue, you always wish for the available options. I'm not saying I would necessarily have those on (and I would probably thumb through them if I'm going quickly anyway), but it's a highly touted/anticipated/desired feature on the PS3 version, so it's just "unfortunate" that it's not an option for the Vita version, perhaps.
Heck, Vita's version of fast play would even be a nice option for the PS3. It doesn't completely take away all of the cutscenes, yet it still speeds up the game. Maybe both versions will get their share of presentation option integration in 13.
And just as an afterthought, I don't really consider handhelds to necessarily be "quicker" in nature, aside from the battery life (and the pick-up/put-down kind of play it might get). Frankly, I see myself playing the Vita around the house, like if I'm downstairs or something. So I might be using it just as a portable PS3. Would be cool if I could play music with it too, though. Stupid Microsoft.Last edited by Blzer; 01-23-2012, 11:20 PM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Community Day - VITA Version - Questions/Concerns/Inquiries
The Vita version of MLB 12 has a hybrid version of the fast play found in MLB 11 it's not the same as last year. You will still see all the on screen displays for batting stats, pitching stats, etc............ we took out all of the long presentations and camera cuts that are a part of the true broadcast package for this year.
MLB 13 will most likely be the same.Last edited by Blzer; 01-23-2012, 11:28 PM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Community Day - VITA Version - Questions/Concerns/Inquiries
I got that much (EDIT: just realized I didn't make that aware in my previous post). I know the between-pitch/post-play stuff is out though. Any word on instant replays?
Understood. Since it's already put in, it would be a beezy to make do like the PS3 at this point. How about options for shrinking the ball to normal size or taking off the Out/Foul text displays? I understand if the former is out of the question, because I don't know how small the ball would look. The latter seems like a rather appropriate option, though. I always loved that The Show didn't have those text displays, in fact.
No, if we made the ball any smaller you wouldn't be able to see it when pitching and hitting. We worked on the ball size for weeks and what you see is the best size possible.Comment

Re: Community Day - VITA Version - Questions/Concerns/Inquiries
So... I understand that the games are "virtually" identical, but would you mind also throwing out what other differences there still are? So far I can point out:
- 30 frames per second
- Bigger ball
- Fast play (but its own version)
- Touch screen (plus other different controls for lack of trigger buttons and clickable analog sticks)
- No Diamond Dynasty
- No Sounds of The Show
- No replay vault
Are there still customizable pitching/batting camera angles? For instance, the one BTP cam I'm continually seeing is like a cutoff version of the normal one. I understand why it's in there, but can we still customize it for ourselves?
Can you still save screenshots? If there isn't a replay vault, I can imagine that you might not be able to do screenshot saves. Even if you can, what's the resolution? Must be 720 x 480 or something, I can't exactly remember.
I'm all for this Vita version, and anticipate playing it a heck of a lot, maybe even more than the PS3 version (and as of now, definitely will be the biggest reason I'm getting a Vita and will be the most used product on it), but I wouldn't mind still getting a grasp on what literal differences there still are in the game, even if they aren't going to be major things mentioned in an article.
