Re: Diamond Dynasty speculation
Call it a "station" in New York and you'll get a smack sandwich
(j/k)
FireHOUSE here in N.Y.C.
...oh and if you want to spend a day in a N.Y.C. firehouse.....better bring your Kevlar vest and helmet. It gets brutal in there and nobody is spared the insults/pranks and general ball breaking.
Walk through the big red door and you're fair game.
Bloodbath!
(but the most you'll laugh in a day...guaranteed.)

Re: Diamond Dynasty speculation
My thought: A franchise mode with unmatched depth and long-term play value.
The kicker: The franchise you start will be compatible with future editions of the game.
I'm thinking of the word "dynasty". The problem with most dynasty modes is that you either have to play constantly, play shorter seasons or skip games just to get through a few seasons. Then the next year's game comes out and you start over. But what if that didn't have to be the case? If you could import franchises into future editions, you could legitimately play a full 30-year dynasty over the course of a few years.
Or, you may want to take a more detailed role in the management of the franchise. So you get all your minor league affiliates. Perhaps they have quietly gotten a license for minor league players and all teams, stadiums and leagues. Imagine a franchise mode where every level of every team's farm system is as accurate as the parent club. Wouldn't this add amazing value to a franchise mode that you could legitimately continue for 20-30 game years?
I'd guess the reason they have spent 4 years is because they knew they would need to make the deepest, best franchise mode ever to make this feature worthwhile, and so they've been tweaking and perfecting it. And they had to get all the stadiums done, which would take a long time. You could have a full amateur draft. Japanese players could post on occasion. A Rule 5 draft. Minor league all-star games. You could play all your affiliate games if you want. Or, you can choose a minor league team for your franchise and be subject to the whims of the parent club sending players up and down. The most robust expansion team/team builder/stadium builder (please do a web version like NCAA) ever so you can move teams, add teams, rebrand teams and affiliates. The ability to realign or change playoff formats, now or during any offseason.
Not that likely, granted, but I'd like it.Comment

Re: Diamond Dynasty speculation
My guess: everyone can take their RTTS character and form teams going up against other teams of RTTS players.
Or something like that.....Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

Re: Diamond Dynasty speculation
The Diamond Dynasty mode to be included in MLB 12 the Show will allow us:
To become a home plate umpire and call balls and strikes. For online games, you can be the home plate umpire for a randomly chosen game between other online players.
This mode is good for developing your own plate discipline for other more regular gameplay modes as well. When a foul tip hits you, your controller vibrates so violently that you can actually feel pain in your butt. When a player/manager argues a call, you have an option to start a boxing match against him, which turns into a mini-game by itself (Move supported!!).
Your reputation as a home plate umpire will rise or fall depending on the reputations you receive from players and managers. There will be online ranking according to this reputation score. theshownation.com online forum will be flooded by messages insisting who the best umpire really is.
The reward for being the best? Well, you might get to talk about how you called that no-hitter thrown by Verlander...
(... I actually think home plate umpire mini-game is a good mode to have in future... can be fun and good practice, isn't it??)Comment

My guess is that the Diamond Dynasty is an online franchise type of gameplay mode where you compete against other random users to progress your team. Basically you start with a default team and play online.
As you play through the season against online opponents, your everyday GM tasks and player movement is consistent with an offline franchise. You build a team from scratch (default) online, and can get multiple years into the generation of your team through playing, GM moves, drafts, and etc.
I can envision when you log on you see a 162 game season where you can play games, sim games, make roster moves, etc. When you want to play a game its like a "play now" game but it searches for an opponent that is consistent with the matchup on your schedule. Similar to Madden Ultimate teams you can also play the computer.
The more you progress through the season, and multiple seasons, the moves and progression received only affects your team and not your random opponents. This making it possible that you may play someone that is in year 10 of their diamond dynasty while you may be in your 2nd.
So in a nutshell, the diamond dynasty is an online franchise mode shell with the ability to play every game on your schedule against an opponent who is doing the same as you.
I know this is a long shot, but its a guess lol
Also cool but without dedicated servers this will be lag hell!Last edited by LastActionHero; 01-12-2012, 09:26 AM."When it's all set and done, reality is the best innovation."Comment

Re: Diamond Dynasty speculation
Don't know how this would work or even if it would work, but....
Somehow incorporate what is happening in real life in regards to your game/ Somehow player stats on the other teams are updated in "real time" with their real world counterparts. Or something to do with the actual games being played.
Seems with most of the players being hookedup online most of the time, you could get continuous online updates of player stats or something sent to you.
Don't know, just babbling....Make #FranchiseNation great again!
This thing called Twitter I do sometimes
What's your thoughts? It's a game.

Re: Diamond Dynasty speculation
I look at it this way. Diamond is a metaphor for a baseball field or baseball in general. And Dynasty is one team ruling the league for years even when it has different players.
So my guess is that it has something to do with a baseball field or baseball and something to do with a team that wins.Comment

Re: Diamond Dynasty speculation
Diamond Dynasty sounds like "Elite Franchise," which suggests it is some kind of competitive online franchise, where after a certain number of seasons (probably 10) the most dominate team is named the Diamond Dynasty.
I can see an official tournament using this system, where the winners of individual leagues will move on until there is only one Diamond Dynasty remaining. Of course, the game mode would be playable outside the tournament as well.
The hitch is, playing 1,620 games + spring training + playoffs + off-season deals would be a full-time job, so there must also be some kind of new gameplay features to make it possible. It also can't just focus on franchise management without playing the actual games, because a baseball simulation game wouldn't be a unique mode.Comment

Re: Diamond Dynasty speculation
Ok, here is my shot at this...I think it is an version of fantasy baseball that will allow you to own a team and compete in fantasy baseball against all other Show users. You will create your own team and have a sum of money that you will use to purchase your players to fill your roster. The stats will be done the same as a standard fantasy baseball league like the ones on ESPN, CBS, and Yahoo.Comment

Actually very possible. I just found this as a product feature:
"Virtual trading card fantasy mode w/DLC, build your team and play against others,
earn coins to purchase card packs, or purchase through PSN"
