Classic pitching Anyone who still uses?
For those who still use classic pitching I was just wondering what level you all were planning on pitching on this year? I am trying to step out of the comfort zone and try pulse but most likely I'll end up using classic so that ratings matter ultimately. I personally ended up on all star on 11 with sliders reduced just one or two notches in solid hits and power. I'm just wondering if you are a classic user where your at difficulty wise because I seriously doubt there will be much change with SCEA implementing so many other things in 12. Thoughts?Tags: None -

I was a classic pitching user myself...until last year with analog. I then went to that. For those who still use classic pitching I was just wondering what level you all were planning on pitching on this year? I'm going Pulse pitching this year.
It's more fun than plain classic IMO.

Re: Classic pitching Anyone who still uses?
I play my franchise with Classic at All-star.
I like how the ratings matter a lot and also the fact that pitchers are wild enough to issue walks. At HoF/Leg I feel that CPU might be too good for me to produce realistic results.
In 12, I'll probably try all analog, pulse, and Move. Which ever that suits the gameplay mode I'll be playing...Comment

At HoF I actually think you get MORE walksI play my franchise with Classic at All-star.

As far as classic goes, I really think the pulse pitching will give perfect, accurate results.Comment

Re: Classic pitching Anyone who still uses?
Same here. I liked Analog, but I could never walk more than 1-2 batters a game, and I'd go stretches without walking anyone.
The only thing with Classic is that when pitching out of the stretch, I'm unsure of how long to hold down the X button? The rumble addition from the windup was nice, and I know some guys that use Classic say they get a rumble from the stretch as well, but I NEVER GET IT. So, I typically hold the button until the pitchers' front leg reaches its high point, and then release the button.
I may try Pulse Pitching this year, but I'll probably wind up back on Classic.
Oh, and I pitch on All-Star.Currently Playing:

Re: Classic pitching Anyone who still uses?
I have always used classic pitching since MLB '07. It is all I will continue to use as well. I got really realistic results in my Phillies 2011 franchise last year. Had my share of great pitching performances and also my share of getting lit up by the CPU as well. Seeing as there will be the new pulse pitching mode, I will give that a try in an exhibition game, but as I said, I will most likely stick with classic pitching.Comment

Re: Classic pitching Anyone who still uses?
I LOVE Classic Pitching
I pitch 100% of all the pitches in the season or seasons that I have time to play, and I hit maybe 3% of the At-Bats in the season or seasons I play. I may pitch one season using Pulse Pitching with Stephen Strasburg or David Price just to try it out. I played on Veteran level in MLB 11: The Show, and I may have to play on All-Star level this year as Mr. Russell Ramone said somewhere that Veteran level is easier this year.

Re: Classic pitching Anyone who still uses?
I spent a great deal of time on AS with Classic for '11. The results were very true to life except my BB's issued were definitely too high, my team ERA was definitely too low, and my HR/9 allowed was also higher than it should be.
It seemed to me that the CPU scored approximately 60%-70% of its run via the long ball, and it ultimately frustrated me enough to:
A. Try out Classic on HOF (where the HR/9 was much better, but K's were much too low and BB were much too high).
And eventually ended up...
B. Switching to Default HOF with the Meter interface, where my stats were BEAUTIFUL.
This year I plan on using Pulse pitching on Default AS, that is, unless the CPU swing and miss percentage has increased this year on HOF.Last edited by Heroesandvillains; 01-28-2012, 10:16 AM.Comment

If your approach is good you should see more of this in 12. I also noticed the CPU got caught looking more which was nice.“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment
