Re: MLB 12 playable at Best Buy
No I didnt get any pictures or videos. I somehow felt weird about taking out my phone and taping it, especially since my Best Buy was dead, and several employees were standing around watching me play....
And I played at Dodger Stadium, should have gone the other way around.
Funny story from that game, I was really confused by how large Lucas Duda was, since I dont get to watch the Mets that often. When he came to the plate he was Prince Fielder size, I didnt know if it was a design flaw or he as that big.
So I looked him up, I guess 6'5" and 255 pounds is a big guy.
On another note, I was actually upset that my wife wouldnt let me go back and play more tonight!
The game is INCREDIBLE!Comment

Re: MLB 12 playable at Best Buy
Made it down to Best Buy in Riverside, CA (Tyler) this afternoon. I found The Show playing in video mode and was a bit disappointed out of fear they didn't have the actual game. When I checked, however, I realized that they hadn't yet it installed it. So, 10 minutes later I was looking at MLB 12 The Show in all of its glory.
Like most other impressions, this year's version really is impressive. I played as the Giants vs. Marlins. I love ballparks so I wanted to see the new stadium. Yeah, the homerun "thing" is as hideous as feared.
The ball physics are amazing. Each year I think they get better but this year it is leaps and bounds better. Not to be over dramatic but it seems like I saw more variety in ten minutes than you would typically see in a year. I think what has happened is that my brain is "programmed" to know what a ball is going to do coming off the bat in the show. Well, get ready for some new programming because the ball DOES NOT go where you have always seen it go. It trails. It stops. It spins. It bounces. You name it. And it is all very subtle yet very, very effective.
The impact of physics isn't just on hits, either. The manner in which a fielder might bobble a ball or mishandle a throw is way better as well. It just looks and feels right...and I say that without having any real complaints these past couple of years. Great job!
I do think it was a bit easier to pick up the pitches coming out of a pitcher's hand. I strike out. A lot. I really won't know for sure, however, until I have a chance to play at home next week. I'm used to my setup and standing a few feet away, playing on a foreign tv, in the middle of Best Buy isn't the best way to judge this aspect of the game, IMO.
Lastly, there seems to be a much greater emphasis on focusing on the players, especially after plays. I think the team has spent years getting the players to look "spot on" and now have the presentation mode possible for showcasing their work.
Sadly, there was no sound and the controller didn't vibrate. I was, however, also impressed with the various overlays, buffer scenes, etc. In addition, I REALLY like the additional information they have added to the screen, e.g. Pitcher Confidence, PCI Feedback, etc.
I picked up the Vita last Wednesday and have been MOST looking forward to that version this year. I just love portability and have always picked up the PS3 AND PSP versions in the past. After today, I am equally excited for both. As if March 6 weren't too far away already...

He's not in the game at purchase. He'll be added in during a roster update when he debuts, and he will also be a part of the OS Full Minors rosters that are done by Knight and many others.Comment

Go Giants!!!
Go into the audio menu & turn music on, which will then allow you to crank up volumes for sound effects, announcer, play-by-play guys etc...
I played my 1st game in science, too! There was plaenty of new commentary dispute the fuss...
Played around in Mia yesterday and listened to Karros talk about Hanley's reluctancy to shift to 3rd ;-)
Played as SF last year & can could almost finish the play-by-play guys sentences for them as the season went on. This season, I'm shifting to the AL (KC, maybe) which should help keep the comentary fresh...

He's more cut than fat.
It was just too late for the guys to fix him once we relayed the info to them.

Re: MLB 12 playable at Best Buy
So, I probably played MLB 11 as much as was humanly possible. I just put it away a few days ago, as it left my PS3 rarely over the last year.
I just played a solid 2 hours of MLB 12 and here is what I noticed...I took some pics and video, too, but they arent spectacular....
- The stadiums look great as always
- The ball physics are awesome
- I HATED pulse pitching. I couldn't throw the ball anywhere near where I wanted to and was getting rocked...so I switched back to Meter and continued to get rocked.
- The new zone hitting is awesome but also difficult. I picked up some solid hits, but no bombs in 2 games - with the Yankees.
- The new pitching windups are amazing, but they still have that awful generic 1 motion.
- The camera cuts are cool and from realistic angles.
- Some of the new pitching motions I saw were: Michael Pineda (looked perfect), Ivan Nova (looked better than perfect), Cliff Lee (Looked RIDONKULOUSly good), Phil Hughes (they completely messed him up). Granderson, ARod, Tex all have new stances. Betances and Romine were in the game, and Betances was A-potential, Romine was a B.
- The ball and bat sounds were great.
- The pitcher, for some reason, would shake no, even when I selected a pitch he threw, and then would throw that pitch... just liked to shake no, I guess.
- Ryan Braun's hair was popping out from under his helmet. It was really cool.
- The music was quite good.

Re: MLB 12 playable at Best Buy
LOL, I have to ? I'm sorry, but I disagree with you. I believe it's a moderate and realistic step forward.
well yea, they run a business - not a charity.
refuse to "fix" camera angles ? which are broken ? i guess you're talkin' about the once in a blue moon time when a wall gets in the way of the ball and you can't see it in a HR replay ?
Sorry I meant being able to fix the fact that we can not adjust the fielding camera the way we can batting and pitching.
I also said "have to" loosely my apologies
I did praise the game for any newcomer to the series or anyone that hasn't played since MLB 10 so...
Don't get me wrong, if i throw any negativity its due to the 1 year cycle and nature of ALL sports games.
But can we help it if the game we play isnt as fresh anymore as it was a year ago after such vast improvement?
I'm surprised there isnt more opinions like mine though? Esp when most players here will ONLY play MLB The Show and thats it. You'd think the general consensus would be "ohh more of the same, this is better here and there, but largely it's kinda what i've been playin"Brand New Tomba Slider sets ready for Next Gen Versions of NBA,Madden and Fifa Stay Tuned...Comment

I turned off catcher calling pitches there's no head shaking at all... Very quick rock & fire.

Re: MLB 12 playable at Best Buy
Got to play Best Buy tonight. Its absolutely beautiful! I have to give mad props to the art guys because Progressive Field is damn near perfect this year.
They also did a good job with some of the Indians stances. Asdrubal's and Choo's look spot on finally.
Pulse pitching was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be too. That will take some practice for sure.
I'm sure anything else I can say has already been said.
Great job once again SCEA!Comment
