1. Analog hitting is HARD. Took me 4 games to draw a walk because there's a lot going on. Getting much better at timing, but still having difficulties.

2. Pitcher's repotoires are all over the place. Brandon Beachy did not have a slider, despite the fact that was his second most used and probably best pitch last year.

3. Ratings, as always, are ehhhhh. A lot of tweaks needed.

4. The astros should be a fun team. They have speed almost everywhere on the field and their hitting ratings are pretty good (read: generous). Add in some good young pitchers and they should be a fun franchise team this year. In before someone complains about re-alignment!

5. DId I mention analog hitting is hard?

First game, Yankees (me) vs. Blue Jays at Yankee Stadium, A-Rod hits a walk off 2 run HR in the bottom of the 9th.

I played one game so far, but from the one game I have played I like MLB 12 a whole hell of a lot more than 11. Like everyone is saying the ball physics are fantastic. And I love how much more smooth the game runs compared to MLB 11.

What I didn't like, or what kind of underwhelmed me, was the crowd and the crowd interaction. Is it just me or does it seem like it took a step back from last year? I feel like they have been getting better and better with the crowd but suddenly with this game they are pretty dead. In MLB 10 and 11 when the "Make some noise" screen came on the crowd got loud every time, but in this game I noticed that they had no reaction to it. Maybe it's a glitch.

I also noticed that they don't reach out for foul balls anymore? Maybe I just didn't notice. Other than this and a couple of glitches that I ran into, my first game of MLB 12 was pretty much flawless. I think MLB 12 might be the best game in the series for the PS3. Every console has it's best Baseball game and this one will probably be it for the PS3. It's fantastic.

I refused.

A few days later they upped the offer, adding in 3rd baseman Ryan Roberts.
how nice of them.

i refused.

not nice of me. lol

three days later, Wright suffers a torn finger ligament and is out for the year.

Goldschmidt got moved on deadline day along with 2b Aaron Hill to the Rays for 2b Ben Zobrist

aaron hill was struggling so far hitting a mario mendoza like .185
Zobrist himself was underachieving hitting at a .247 clip and 34 ribbies.


pretty cool to see a team [dbacks] make a strong push for somebody while at the same time trying to unload a certain player, who eventually did get shipped out.
both teams win.

good to see that happen.

One other comment when I was batting and you get a good hit on the sweet spot it feels great, when you don't hit it just right the controller lets you know with a little bat tingle, nice touch and very cool.

I was playing Reds/Brewers and Votto hit a grounder up the middle and it bounced up off the mound and Rickie Weeks caught it on the run and made a Jeter-esque play.

My impression is auto baserunning sucks. Ruining the expierience thus far for me. Granted I've only got 3 games in so far, but I'm far from impressed to this point.

I played a couple of games today in Franchise preseason with the Blue Jays. So far this game is very impressive. It just feels so real!

Dodgers -Giants in September

-Dodgers have the 50th anniversary stadium patch. Nice!
-A TEAM leaders OSD showing the amount of doubles the top 10 teams in the league have. This was after Mark Ellis doubled to start the top of the second inning.
-It's worth noting again how smooth this game is. Really beautiful.
-Maybe I'm not looking for them...but it also seems MUCH less dupes in the crowds.

Commentary is horrible! Maybe Im used to 2k basketball or even 2k baseball from last year? There are lulls and complete silence way to often. At the start of a game they say this is what the defense will look like and you have a minute of silence. Why doesn't the commentator step in and talk about a key defender or pitcher that is starting? This needs a overhaul. Reminds me of madden except worse. They also need better announcers and play by play as well.

I get that a lot of people put down the commentary in The Show and while I certainly think it could be upgraded, I have only played the game since MLB 09 so it doesn't seem as stale to me and I still hear lots of unique things are situation specific.

But do you REALLY think Madden's commentary is better than The Show? I find that very hard to believe. That game often isn't even announcing properly when touchdowns are scored, it repeats the EXACT... SAME ... LINE over and over in each and every franchise game about every team's offense, defense.... It goes from random shouting for things of non consequence to quieter commentary where things are actually happening of importance. It's complete mess.

I think if Madden commentary were at the level of The Show, football fans would be a lot happier.
