      Couldn't agree more.

I love the presentation, the broadcast feel is amazing, the camera work, the overlays are pleasing, the team logos are bold, the number of options for seemingly everything are just immense. The editing feature is more robust than it's ever been.

I've noticed there's no music in the game intro or between innings. That's a great touch, feels like the fluff has been stripped out and they've given us the perfect canvas to work with in terms of sound and music.

The game just feels polished and complete right out of the box, a rarity today.

Re: MLB 12 The Show - PS3 Impressions Thread

I was batting in the 8th inning of a tie game with a runner on 2nd and 2 outs. The camera panned out to an overhead shot of the crowd, which was going nuts, and Matt V. commented about how everyone in the stadium was on their feet (or something to that effect). Goosebumps...

Question: was Real Time Presentation scrapped? Might be the first time that SCEA removed a feature that was once available. Not a big deal since I love the new Broadcast presentation anyways, and I never used RTP, but it's interesting.

if there is any doubt gamers have about the ball physics, lay them to rest.

back to back play they were in effect.

on a grounder foul at a rainy [which by the way looks so impressive this year, it actually depresses you lol] Yankees stadium, the foul bal hit the tarp and proceeded to trickle off, whereas past versions it would richochet.
Next play a bounding hopper to Cano, the ball had some crazy forward spin to it [i checked the replay twice to see what was going on there lol] and skipped right over his glove.

          error on cano.
          hit for SCEA.

edit: anyone else notice SOTS inning music does not work?
I set my inning music as I always do and the Show default music plays.
i might have to drop this in the bugs thread unless theres a new way to do it this year

          double edit:
ok i restarted a franchise and it worked.
weird because the SO music worked but the inning music didnt till i restarted a fresh franchise.
i wonder if you need to load all inning music before starting a chise?

also the glitch is fixed where the custom inning music would play beyond the inning break.

Re: MLB 12 The Show - PS3 Impressions Thread

Just lost 6-0 to the Pirates in a ST game in Palms park.

Pitched the whole game with Pulse Pitching, and I must say, from an Analog Guy, this was pretty fun. There is indeed a rhythm to it, and whoever asked earlier if you find yourself bobbing your head with the pulsing in a tight situation... yes. Guilty.

I think the thing I like best about it is being to see the great pitching animations as opposed to the last 1/2 of the delivery, as is the case with Analog while you are so intent on spotting and using the stick. This was fun, and I can see you will get punished for bad decisions.

Game 2 with the sliders, and they are almost locked down. The outfielder speed, throws and baserunner speed at -1 is perfect. Guys get to the bag at the right time, the fielders are a little less herky jerky, and the balls get to first 1/2 step ahead of the runner when they ought to. This also requires you to be very careful about the path you take to the balls, in both the infield, and the outfield.

I have left everything else stock HOF except the pitch control and consistency, which I turned down to make the Analog pitching harder, but worked great with the Pulse Pitching as well.

Lots of nice new animations, nothing to complain about as of yet.

good variety of games. Lost the first one 2-0, the next one I came back from a 4-0 deficit and exploded in the 8th for 6 runs, and won that one 6-4 against the Marlins in their new stadium, and now just lost to the pirates in Florida at a Palms Park, behind a gem by AJ Burnett who threw 105 pitches in a complete game shut out.

So far, a great representation of baseball.

What more can we honestly ask for?

There is quite the learning curve when it comes to pitching and hitting. Game looks gorgeous, now just have to get use to everything.

Re: MLB 12 The Show - PS3 Impressions Thread

I don't like Pulse Pitching at all. It makes the game way too arcade-like. It's not just a simply strategy game anymore with this - it's almost like some sort of timing mini-game. Not a fan whatsoever!

I'm going back to classic pitching. Call me crazy but this just feels the most organic. You just try and place your pitches and if your guy is good and isn't fatigued, it's usually a decent pitch. But I'm playing as the Orioles so I need all the pitching help I can get.

Anyone else not a fan of the pulse pitching?

The most positive to me so far is fielding. The players are making decisive plays for outs unlike last years over animation or delayed animations. I tried pulse pitching briefly but immediately switched it back to meter. That feature could of been implemented better without it being so distracting.

Re: MLB 12 The Show - PS3 Impressions Thread

I gotta say, the last time I got the feeling I have so far with MLB 12 The Show, was MVP 2005. Right away, I could tell that game was baseball, and the feeling never left. That was the last game where I completed a 162 game season and played every game myself.

So far I feel that way about this year's game, and I don't think the feeling will leave either. Everything has finally come together this year.

The pitching delivery animations and the ball physics alone make this game so buttery smooth and realistic. This is baseball.

The jerky pitching animations of years past, where there was this "snap" or jump in the animation where the ball leaves the pitcher's hand...is gone this year. And it makes all the difference in the world. That simple animation has changed the entire feel of hitting for me and now it feels organic, where as before it felt fake.

The ball physics are amazing. Already I've seen plays I've never seen in past versions of the game, and they are plays that happen in real life.

The game just feels great this year, and it's never felt that way for me before despite how much I tried to force it to. This is the year I finally start a franchise and enjoy playing the games.

It doesn't feel very smooth to me, and a little blurry (the baserunner boxes) to me..maybe its just my old gb ps3 doing that though. I don't know.

I've played my first game, and the game is living up to the hype.

Miami Marlins vs. Texas Rangers - I always have to start out with the home team, but I wanted to get a taste for what Miami was offering. The stadium looks a lot better in the game than it did when the first promo screens came out. The hitting is much improved with the ball physics, and I feel like there are many more options when it comes to hits. The big star however is pulse pitching. This is going to change how everybody pitches in video games. The variety is well done, and there is an actual sense between poor pitchers, good pitchers, and great pitchers. The game went into extras and ended after Napoli launched one that's still in orbit.

Right now, I'm dabbling in Diamond Dynasty. It looks like I'm going to be able to re-create my fantasy team's logo even though my team's name is taken...

                            Impression of Lucas Duda's fielding.

oh his lightning speed out there

hes STILL running after one i think.

Ike Davis hit a hr at Citi and it was a thing of beauty, off the foul pole.

                            The HR scene was tops.
the only Presentation tidbit that will make it better is this.

1] add an overlay as he round the bases, signifying what number HR it was.
2] show him high fiving in the dugout.
3] after the first pitch to the next batter, cut to him on the bench smiling and talking with a teammate, and have another come over and slap his helmet and laugh.

                              WOW.

I would just leave my impressions at that, but since I have to write at least 10 characters, I'll say a little bit more.

Guys, the ball physics are a definite game-changer. Ground balls look much more realistic. I've seen a couple of bloopers already and I like the change in the rumble feature when hitting; you get a different kind of feedback when you get a hold of a ball.

Pulse Pitching is cool, and there have been some tweaks to Analog pitching, as I found it not quite as easy to hit my spots like I was able to last year.

The new batting camera is nice. Pitch speed still felt fast, but I lowered the slider 2 clicks and that was perfect for me.

I played the Subway Series for my first game on All-Star difficulty across the board and actually won with the Mets, 6-2 David Wright went 3-for-4 with 2 doubles and a 3-run HR that chased C.C. from the game. Santana went 6.2 innings, allowing 2 runs.

                              This game is amazing.

Re: MLB 12 The Show - PS3 Impressions Thread

I just played my first online game. It was Yankees vs Marlins. I was the Yankees. I pitched a no hitter and won 1 - 0 but whatever, I just wanted to mention that cause that's the first no hitter I've ever thrown in The Show !

I can't make a complete online comparison to last year since I only played one online game so far in MLB 12, but I do have some impressions.

∙ It did have some latency but not any lag - if that makes sense. In other words, I had to swing earlier than I would have in an offline game. This could have been his connection.

∙ Wish the anti aliasing could be used online but not a big deal

∙ I didn't have to mute the announcers ! Last year, before every online game, I had to mute the announcers, but since SCEA streamlined the front end menus this year, all settings are applied correctly.

∙ I didn't see any swing animation oddities like I used to in 11

I wanna try the HR derby online, but it seems you need to have a friend online for this ? I guess you can't challenge random people.
