I'm going back to classic pitching. Call me crazy but this just feels the most organic. You just try and place your pitches and if your guy is good and isn't fatigued, it's usually a decent pitch. But I'm playing as the Orioles so I need all the pitching help I can get.

Anyone else not a fan of the pulse pitching?
I think Pulse is good, but to be honest, I don't see myself using it over the long haul. I'll probably be using Classic or Analog for Franchise.

after using Pulse, and for the record i am not sure of what i am fully doing yet, i see myself giving it an honest go.
Analog is fun, but that meter blocks a bunch of the batter area, and u can/t resize it and make it smaller while keeping the camera in broadcast pitching view.

I played a 5 inning game at Gamestop last night and really enjoyed the game. I have a love/hate relationship with The Show. I love it and it hates me (or at least it hates my hitting). The new Pulse Pitching took a while to get used to and I didn't get it nailed down perfectly but I got better as it went along. I lost 4-0 but a couple of those runs were because I just made flat-out dumb mistakes or didn't realize what I was doing so I could have brought it down to about 2-0.

The bad thing is now I actually want to buy the game and can't at the moment. Oh well, maybe in a few weeks I will pick it up.

loving it so far! i beat the cardinals 2-1 with the cubs in my first game and in my second game i lost to the rays 5-2, i was the dodgers.
the new zone analogue batting is very challenging but VERY rewarding.pulse pitching is also loads of fun. i personally am loving it so far. cant wait to get my franchise going!

            5 games in, I've seen 0 errors...

Also, starting to notice that the pitcher's hands go through their gloves, in the windup, in behind the pitcher views

Re: MLB 12 The Show - PS3 Impressions Thread

              Some quick first impressions:

Took the Red Sox down to Miami to check out the new stadium.
(Hall of Fame with default sliders and Pure Analog for the controls)

I was really hoping for Jacoby to have his new stance. He closed his stance last year and got amazing results. Something I hope Carl Crawford will end up doing. Not a game changer or anything.

First ball I hit into play was an inside fastball that I swung late on and it jammed me. I immediately noticed the vibration in from the contact and the ball physics. The ball had crap-loads of slice to it and it wasn't hit hard. One of my biggest gripes in '11 was balls being hit too hard to the opposite field on inside pitches. I've never been so happy to get jammed.

Next thing I notice is on the next batter (Crawford). I went yard on that same inside fastball as I got around on it and instantly thought, "whoa that sounded really good coming off the bat." New sounds are awesome.

Youkilis has a new stance. His hands are in that "Scorpion's tail" position now. I see that SCEA was unable to make his top hand go up the bat, but I think it looks better anyway.

There seems to be more response in analog hitting and pitching this year. For pitching, I was able to pitch outside of the strike zone (away and inside) a little easier compared to last year, but by no means had pinpoint control. It seems really well balanced.

Custom camera for the Marlins is last years camera. That's to be expected though, as we haven't seen the official view yet.

Saw some nice animations, as well as a few diving plays. Still wish they'd add some new outfield dive animations (maybe they have). I dove for a ball at full speed and it didn't seem to carry any weight with the player and I came up short. Maybe something to consider for '13.

The game played really smooth as I went on to an 8-0 win. Josh Johnson threw 70+ pitches in three innings and I tagged him for 7 runs. Daniel Bard went the distance for a complete game shut out, striking out 8, walking 2, and only giving up 3 hits.

While this year's version looks very similar to last year, the feel of the game is night and day.

From the graphics to the sound everything looks and sounds amazing. Add almost perfect gameplay and we have a real winner on our hands. Too bad my M's aren't anything special this year

On that note my girlfriend hates me and this time of year. She'll have to deal though lol. Also I may end up needing an intervention to get me away from this game. CHEERS!!!

No worries ryan36, my very first game my team had a total of 5 errors, booting the ball and a couple of throwing errors. Good to hear you haven't seen any as I thought there might be too many this year!

I noticed this. While not a big deal, it's disappointing. Last year the times varied and mostly matched the real MLB schedule. And the shadows would be adjusted for the start times of later games like 3:05 or 4:05. Not sure why they took that out this year.

Lost my first game 5-4 to the Cubs using my Mariners. The new ball physics are incredible. Justin Smoak at one point hit a chopper over the first baseman that left me in awe.

Second exhibition game was even better: picked up a 1-0 victory in 14 innings over the A's (once again using my M's). The lighting and atmosphere is great. Pulse pitching is very difficult to get down, but I fully intend on sticking with it until I master it. Haven't tried the new batting at all, instead sticking with zone hitting. This game is incredible.

This game is beautiful. I have to finish this paper for my class tomorrow, and I have the game playing CPU vs CPU, and it is playing from the broadcast cam. My GF walks in and mentions something about how the Orioles Spring Training game was yesterday not today. I didn't understand what she ment until about 15 minutes later.

EDIT: Added this info to the bugs thread.

They did patch the schedule specifically because all the Cubs games were at night. It was either 09 or 10, can't remember. Maybe they can do that again this year. Not sure why they don't just match the times on the real MLB schedule and call it a day, but oh well.
