I go to the DL menu and I hit R1/L1 but nothing happens. Guh.

Re: MLB 12 The Show - Q&A Thread

I just finished my first season in my franchise, and was disappointed to find that just about all of my minor leaguers were free agents. Guys who were 19-20nyears old were free agents asking 500-600k. This was frustrating trying to negotiate reasonable contracts with all of these players who in actuality aren't even supposed to be minor league free agents until after their 6th professional season. Any idea what the deal with this is?

Quick question, sorry if it's been asked but 4 months in and there's just too many posts to sift through. I'd like to copy my franchise, settings and sounds to my friends PS3. Is this as simple as copying them to a USB stick? I'd like to keep my cues too, so I'm thinking if I upload the music first and then all my game files I should be in the clear, right?

Players who are actually "Contract Renewable" or arbitration eligible can appear to be free agents. What team and roster set are you using?

I know this is an odd question, but does anyone know if there are any pitching motions in the game that have the pitcher hold the ball behind his back when pitching from the stretch?

I see a lot of pitchers do it IRL but in the game everyone seems to have the ball in their glove, presumably so they can perform the R2 gesture...

The franchise and settings files should be transferable through a simple USB drive. The sound cues, on the other hand, won't transfer I don't think. But you are going to be putting them on the other PS3 anyway, tell us your results.

For some reason none of the game's files transferred to the USB. Am I forgetting to do something during copying? Do I have to breakdown the file somehow like Hustlin' did for his franchise file a while back? If so, how do I do that?

I have a question about hitting... What is better zone or timing hitting? Lastly how do you pick up the ball quick? Do you look at a spot in centerfield near his release point, or do you just watch his whole wind up and then find the ball?

Zone vs. Timing is entirely a preference thing. Timing is definitely easier in a sense that you don't have to move PCI, but the price you pay is that your hitting results will depend more on player attributes, not your skills. I'd start with Timing and then move to Zone once you get hitting timing down to see how you fare.

Picking up pitches, again, is probably a preference issue, but I think it's generally better to ignore all the pitching delivery and just concentrate on the release point. Those hitters who time their swing watching the whole thing tend to get fooled really badly against a pitcher with a very funky delivery. Just as you'd hit against pitching machine in the cage, you may be better of just timing on the release point.

I'm playing with the Yankees using Knight's set, with my updates to reflect accurate uniform numbers & transactions up to May.

Players who are Arbitration Eligible or eligible for Contract Renewal have to be on the 40 man roster. Guys like Tyler Austin, Rafael DePaula, etc. are free agents. In fact, I think most, if not ALL, of my minor leaguers (not on the 40 man roster) are Free Agents. The ones who I couldn't sign (i.e. Austin) I had to add to the 40 man so I could simply renew their contracts and not lose them. What I don't understand is why these Minor Leaguers are becoming free agents to begin with.

How do I create and apply a custom profile to the other 29 teams I don't want to control in my Franchise?

I've heard that sound 3 times... once was Babe Ruth, the second was Josh Gibson, and the third was Bo Jackson- Buck O'Neil

All you need to do is edit one of the Default profiles (Beginner, etc).

Once you back out, it will ask you if you want to save the changes and whether or not you want to make it the Default Profile.

Then, I believe you can rename it.

From there, you can apply it to as many teams as you'd like when starting a new Franchise.
