      Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

Now 12-10 with the Astros. I am surprised on how the season is going because I am using All-Star batting difficulty but a lot of my players are hitting well. Altuve went through a cold spell but is now getting back into the swing of things (no pun intended). Reddick has hit 3 homers for me since aquiring him from the A's and Brett Lawrie has hit 4 homers since being traded here but he is starting to go in a little slump, 0 for his last 11 at bats.
I am 2nd in the NL Central behind the Cards. I won 6 in a row all on the road but lost to the Mets in the first game of a home series. I traded a few minor leaguers for Jonathon Broxton from the Reds and turned him into my Closer and he has a very good overall.
I am going to play more and progress the season along so I will update after some more games.

I envy you right now and cant wait to get to that point. I've been following your dynasty since the trade that brought you Lowrie as I specifically remember a post about it from about 2 months ago in real life. Anyway congrats on the Mccann MVP and good luck in the playoffs.

        Keep us updated!

          Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

Just finished up my first season in my Reds franchise. I play with CPU Roster Control on, so I can move players as they get moved in real life (trades, waiver claims, etc.) Usually, I play even with the real season, until after the trade deadline, and then I'll start to leave the regular season behind.

Here is a look at the season results

I'm in the year 2034 with the Chicago Cubs. Playing with a buddy. Took a few years to build a solid winning team, but we did it. A couple of stud rookie draft picks from later rounds was a pleasent surprise.

Our 2 dynasty building draft picks:

SS- Cedrick Kerns- 2016 draft- 5th round- 1 MVP, ROTY

C- Delmon Mays- 2019 draft- 3rd round- 3x MVP, ROTY

Career stats so far for those 2:

              Cedrick Kerns (36):

              Hits- 2332

              HR- 383

              RBI- 1387

              AVG- .289

              Delmon Mays (35):

              Hits- 1747

              HR- 453

              RBI- 1378

              AVG- .258

Very fun going this far in a dynasty. Still playing.

                Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

Alright guys how the hell do I pitch to Josh Hamilton?

I just got to the playoffs in the 2nd season of my Twins franchise and I'm facing Texas in the ALDS. Texas took game one 8-1. Darvish killed me but most importantly Hamilton was 3-4 with 2 HR 3 RBI's, double, and a intentional walk.

So now I just started game two on Friday but had to save after the 1st because I was out of town until today. Well in game two I scored 4 runs in the top of the 1st off of Neftali Feliz. Sure enough bottom of the 1st (pitching with Scott Baker) Texas gets Michael Young on and then Hamilton comes up. What does he do? Oh he jacks his 3rd HR of the damn series. Then Napoli comes up and hits one too. So now it's 4-3 me after the 1st inning.

So I'm about to start the game back up but I need to know, how the hell do I pitch to Hamilton? He is murdering me and there is no way in hell I'm winning the series if I don't stop him. I'm honestly contemplating walking him every single time. No matter what I do he just crushes me. The worst part is that lineup is so deadly that walking him will probably just end up in him scoring anyway. That lineup is just ridiculous to pitch to especially in the playoffs. The CPU gets so much more difficult to play against in the playoffs and you honestly can't make a mistake otherwise you will pay. That's the beauty of this game though.

                  Division Series update

After playing all season on quick play, I switched to broadcast. That, along with the playoff music, really set the atmosphere. Loving it.

My Braves battled the Dodgers in a series featuring the top two pitching staffs in MLB. The Dodgers ranked #1 in team ERA with the Braves #2. The series lived up to the billing.

                  Game 1: Braves 2, Dodgers 1 (10)
In Atlanta, Tim Hudson and Clayton Kershaw were dominant. But the Braves managed to scratch out a run in the sixth. Hudson pitched seven shutout innings, but Craig Kimbrel gave up an unearned run in the 9th. Freddie Freeman hit a one-out double in the 10th and moved to third on a Jed Lowrie single. With Willie Harris pinch-hitting, Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez decided to try the old suicide squeeze. Harris popped it up, and it looked like Kenley Jansen grabbed it on the fly, but the umpire ruled it a trap. Freeman scored the winning run as the Dodgers fumed.

                  Game 2: Braves 4, Dodgers 0
Tommy Hanson continued the pitching dominance with seven shutout innings. Michael Bourn wreaked havoc on the basepaths, scoring two early runs off Chad Billingsley. Freeman, chided by some fans for only hitting 14 home runs during the season, blasted a solo shot for some cushion. Jonny Venters and Kimbrel took care of the 8th and 9th innings.

                  Game 3: Braves 3, Dodgers 2
In Los Angeles, an instant classic. With off days in between each of the first three games, Kershaw was able to take the mound on three-days rest. Freeman and Lowrie hit back-to-back homers in the fifth to stake Jair Jurrjens to a 3-1 lead.

In the 8th, down 3-2 now, the Dodgers loaded the bases off Eric O'Flaherty with nobody out. Peter Moylan entered just hoping to limit the damage. The Dodgers tried their own suicide squeeze, but Mark Ellis couldn't get the bunt down and Juan Uribe was dead at the plate. Ellis then drew a walk to reload the bases. That brought Matt Kemp to the plate. And every Braves fan shuddered. Kemp hit a hard grounder in the hole that Lowrie not only managed to get to, but also managed to fire a strike to second; Uggla then made the turn and fired to first to just get Kemp for an inning-ending double play.

In the 9th, the Dodgers loaded the bases again. This time with one out off Kimbrel. And again the Dodgers tried the suicide squeeze. This time it was Uribe missing the bunt, and Andre Ethier was tagged out. Uribe then bounced to short to end the game and the series.

I simmed through 2012 with Detroit. Picked up Torii Hunter and Buehrle and simmed until the 2013 playoffs.

I've played the whole postseason and it's been the most realistic, and fun time I've had playing the game. I'm currently down 3-2 to New York in the World Series. I dropped the first two at home, took game 3, and blew game 4 giving up a grand slam in the 8th inning. Won game 5 and now I'm back to Detroit for games 6 & 7.

Mat Latos is becoming like Cliff Lee in these playoffs, for me. Two complete games in his two starts.

I just finished year 2020. The dodgers won the world series. Corey Seager (Kyle seagers lil bro) ended the year with 45 HRs and 127 RBIs. Kershaw won the cy young award after going 21-2 for the season. He won the MVP award too. Kemp finished with 48 HRs at the age of 35. JD Sorvala (2019) 1st round pick tore up AA. He hit 34 HRs and drove in 112.
Im interested to see how he'll do when he gets to the majors. He should be there by 2022.

I drafted a C potential SP with 'A' velocity. Maybe a future star? Simming is fun

Finally got through my 162 game season with the Blue Jays, playing every game. I tied for the final Wild Card spot with the Yankees and ended up beating New York in the Wild Card game, 3-2. Now I am playing Detroit in the ALDS. I beat them pretty soundly to take Game 1 on the road, but they were able to get a walk-off single from Carlos Beltran (who they traded for earlier in the year) in the 10th inning to tie it up. Now the series is heading back to Toronto. Hopefully I'll be able to take these next two games at home.

My Cardinals team is playing well in the year 2016, won back to back world series in 13-14 but had trouble in 15 barely making the playoffs and lost the division series. Couldn't trade off anyone because the budget wouldn't allow it and Adam Lind was out all season (I replaced him with at first Josh Thole then traded for Freddie Freeman, put Lind on waivers and the brewers scooped him up). Introduced Shelby Miller into my rotation at long last in 2015 and he performed very well, put Zach Lee into the rotation in 16 after a fantastic first start at the end of 2015. Decided to give up Aroldis Chapman to keep Mike Trout, my bullpen has been awesome anyway. Here's my roster as of right now.

                              Rotation:
                              1. Shelby Miller
                              2. Tom Milone
                              3. James McDonald
                              4. Zach Lee
                              5. Brandon McCarthy

                              Bullpen:
LRP-Louis Coleman (He's due to be in the rotation by 2017)
                              MRP-Antonio Bastardo
                              MRP-Justin Hampson
                              SU-Brandon League
                              SU-David Robertson
                              CP-Mike Adams

                              Lineup:
                              2B-Billy Hamilton
                              RF-Shin Soo Choo
CF-Mike Trout (just signed to a nice big contract till he's 33)
                              SS-Will Middlebrooks (It works)
                              1B-Freddie Freeman
                              LF-Drew Stubbs
                              3B-Jordan Pacheco
C-Josh Thole (has panned out very nicely as a defensive catcher with a little pop)

                              Bench:
                              Kyle Blanks
                              Jason Kubel
                              Scott Sizemore
Sam Aldridge (Replaces Stubbs against righties and Choo against lefties)
                              Luke Schwartz (Backup Catcher)

My bats have cooled off the past week and my record with the Mets now sits at 26-28. Hopefully I can get things cranked up again ... my pitching has kept me afloat.
