Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
i think i may skip 13 and continue my franchise. i did that with nhl 12. i really enjoyed my season last year and decided to play the entire season on nhl 12 since there is no real hockey season this year. i is a lot easier than baseball since the games are not daily and do not take as long. but it has been quite fun keeping my team going.Originally posted by baseballin23 -

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
I am trying to dig out of the hole. Beginning the month of June. 2012 Braves schedule. I just accomplished my goal of winning 20 games for the month of May. Not much of a goal, but I had a horrible start of the season. The last week May is when I start my playing the division. 3 game series vs. the Nats. I took 2 out of 3. I then turn around and lost 2 out of 3 vs. the Cards.
I finally took a 15.5 GB & last place team to 3rd place knocking it down to 9.5GB. Opened up the month of June with a 3 game set vs. the Nats. I got swept. Competitively swept. 10-0, 4-3, & 6-4. Great games except for game 1. I fell back to 14.5GB, but not in last place. I got a 3 game series coming up with the Marlins. I hoping for a sweep. I gotten back intrigue and immerse in this Show once again.
I am hitting home runs, but solo shots mostly. 49HR as a team. That is good for 16th in the MLB. I have picked up TG JR. from the Dodgers for AAA C (Lopez). I will start him in LF, moving Prado SS. The reason Simmons and Pastornicky are batting .150, but playing great "D".
Here is my new lineup:
1. CF Bourn (14 steals leds NL)
2. LF Gwynn JR ( speed)
3. SS Prado - contact hitter, slumping lately but I can hit with him. .265 5HR 15RBI
4. RF Heyward .307 11HR 19RBI
5. 1B Freeman .245 8HR 23RBI
6. C McCann .298 10HR 22RBI
7. 2B Uggla .233 6HR 16RBI
8. 3B Real life HOF Chipper .209 4HR 8RBI I will not trade him no matter what.
9. Pitcher
Rotation
1. Huddie 4-5 3.60 ERA
2. Zimmermann 8-2 2.44 trade from Nats dummy CPU. He has a 7yr contract and young(26yrs)
3. Teheran 0-1 2.84 ERA, brought him up trading Hanson, JJ and Sheets.
4. Beachy 3-4 4.26 ERA
5. Minor 4-5 3.69 ERA
Bullpen
LRP O'Flaherty 3.62 ERA 29K 32.1IP He was 5th in the All star ballot for RP, but struggling lately has fell to 10th or so.
LRP Medlen 3.10 ERA
MRP Moylan 3.00 ERA
MRP Vizcaino just called up from injury & AAA
SUP Jonny V outstanding 1.33 ERA 27K 20IP, 9K w/RISP
SUP Martinez 2.57 ERA
CP Kimbrel 2.78ERA 16SV, 2BSV, 24K 22.2IP. Welcome to the Jungle playn as he's entering from the pen at the Ted.

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
I won a 16-inning thriller the other night against the Marlins. I blew a 6-2 lead in the 8th-9th innings and actually fell behind 7-6. Scott Hairston tied things up with a solo HR off of Heath Bell and the game went into extras. Hanley Ramirez hit a 3-run HR in the 12th and it looked like the game was over, but I managed to tie the score at 10-10 as Hairston laced a 2-run double to the LCF gap.
Finally, in the 16th (both teams were down to their last available pitcher), I pushed across the winning run as Ike Davis belted a double to the RCF gap.
Mets are 55-56 on the season, 9 games back of the Marlins/Braves for the NL East and Wildcard.Currently Playing:

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
my rockies are 5.5 games out of first and almost the same for the wild card. 11 games over .500 at 75-64.
the sept call up has been very needed. i have a few guys who have needed breaks after so many games in a row.
in the past couple weeks, i sweep the dodgers to go into second place then get swept by the last place padres. so i went into a four game with the braves and sweep them but now i just finished up against the first place phillies.
this was one interesting series. carlos gonzalez is on a tear right now. he has several hrs over the last few days, all big.
in the first game, i go down by 5 early. it gets a little worse and i am down 7-2. i was resting tulowitski and cargo so i knew it would be tough. i get a few guys on base and bring in tulo who pinch hits a 3 run hr. cargo the next inning pinch hits a grand slam and i win going away.
the next game they just dominate me and i lose 5-1. game three again i go down by 5. slowly but surely i crawl back to 5-5. then the 7th inning comes and i get a few hits. i get the bases loaded. tulo comes up with one out. he singles to left and i decide to send the runner from second, who gets thrown out at home. it was my fault, i knew it would be closed, but it was going to take a really good throw so .... i was out played.
i thought this was going to bite me in the butt, but cargo comes up and promptly puts another in the seats for an eventual 10-5 win.
i am looking forward to the next week of games. i have SF who is not playing well. their pitching is off the charts, but they cannot score so the games are always tough this season. then it is all divisional for the rest of the season. arizona is in first and the dodgers and my rockies keep swapping 2nd.Comment

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
Rockies are an absolute blast to use in this game with Opening Day rosters. Cargo, Tulo, Scutaro, Helton and Cuddyer can all rake and if you find success with Fowler, you've really got something going.Currently Playing:

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
its great when you have two shots in a row to make something happen late in games. the pitching was spotty early and a few guys were just not playing well, but now i am close to making the wild card.
i think i am going to miss out unless i get one good tear of wins. i have too many teams to climb over. arizona has just played way too consistent to hope they choke.Comment

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
Playing as the Braves. A bad start of the month of June and worse against the div leaders The Nats & Marlins. 1-5 on the six gm road trip. I am now 21-37. Crazy me not going to panic, still have many games left against the division. Ok I'm worried a little. The Nats starting pitching is tough Gonalez is 2-0 against me 0.00 ERA. 16-18IP.
I'm headed back to the Ted for a 9 game home stand vs. Blue Jays,Yankees & Orioles.Last edited by decga; 01-19-2013, 01:08 AM. Reason: I changed the number of home games and added the OriolesComment

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
I have been in the biggest drought of the season. My hitting was atrocious with me scoing 1 or 2 runs per game, getting shutout multiple times during my 7-game losing streak. I snapped the losing streak by scoring 3 runs against Papelbon in the 9th to win 5-4. In that inning, I was getting good hits, like when I started the season. I always feel like I lost my touch with hitting, & I was about to call it quits. Then I keep telling myself that the Astros are doing way worse than I. I'm currently 38-45.Originally posted by Barney StinsonNever in the history of New York City nightclubs has there been a shortage of dudes. Not even during the Great Dude Shortage of 1883.Comment

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
hey guys brand new to this game ive been trying to figure out franchise mode for the last 3 weeks but I just cannot seem to win.
I kinda got berated for posting in a sticky asking for help so they pointed me here, I can't create my own topic for some reason which is slightly irritating.
Ive tried playing mainly with the default rosters and i am going to try the osfm offseason 13 ones bc im a die hard O's fan.
Anyway can you guys give me some pointers, help me figure out franchise mode bc it is really deep and the level of control is AWESOME so I REALLY wanna get good at it.
I need a franchise to play as, not a really easy one. Ideally this is what I need some help with, how to rebuild a franchise. I have no idea how to rebuild. I want a good team to rebuild a lead to a championship.
Also should I play all the games/ manage them?
Any help at all would be so very much appreciated guys, this seems to be overall a very good community. I am merely someone who because he just started playing MLB 12 the show last month absolutely fell in love with the sport of baseball in way that I never had before. So I am still fairly new to in depth baseball talk as well as the show in general.
I do try and draft guys with A potential but they suck when I pick them up.
Anyways please help I will be very grateful towards you
one more thing RAVENS GOING TO THE SUPERBOWL
