Pasteonicky is batting a .221 with me almost through July. But I just picked up Yunel Escobar (spell check) in a trade that I think I might of gave a little to much for. But he's comin through for me do might not be so bad. Still not sure what to do at short though. Would like to grab a solid LF and turn Prado into a third baseman once chip retires. I'm on the fence right now with constanza. -
Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
After taking game one from Detroit, they stormed back against Felix Hernandez and Matt Garza, taking the final two games of the series. So far, I am 2-4 against those pesky Tigers. I was actually hitting Justin Verlander, but I just couldn't bring runners home.
My anger was solved though, as a beat the Yankees 13-4. What made it better, if it could be better, was the fact that it was off of Michael Pineda.EPL - Arsenal

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
So I had kind of a wild and crazy finish in my most recent game. Facing the Tigers, I had a 3-1 lead entering the 7th inning. Joba relieved Phil Hughes and promptly allowed a leadoff single, and then a 2-run HR to Alex Avila.
With the score tied, I brought it Robertson for the 8th, and he allowed a HR to Austin Jackson to give the Tigers a 4-3 lead.
It would stay that way until the bottom of the 9th.
ARod led off as a PH. He was on an off day, and despite Martin hitting .452 with 3 HRs and 9 RBI in his last 10 games, I wanted to be sure I had a chance at tying the game with one swing.
ARod singled, bringing up Brett Gardner. He would drop a bunt to try and move ARod to 2nd, but Gardner beat out the bunt. Next was Nunez, and so he bunted to try and put both runners into scoring position. On the bunt, the pitcher threw the ball away, allowing ARod to score the tying run, and allowing Gardner to advance to third, and Nunez to second.
With the winning run now at 3rd, my hottest hitter stood at the plate, Curtis Granderson. After working the count to 2-2, he hit a dribbler to 3rd. Gardner took a step off of 3rd to force a throw. It worked, and Gardner slid back into 3rd, but was ruled safe, and Grandy reached first safely as well.(Honestly, I thought Gardner should have been ruled out.)
So instead of first and second with one out, the bases were loaded with still no outs, in a 4-4 game, for Mark Teixeira. He would take the first pitch from Joaquin Benoit into the left field stands for the walk-off grand slam.
Final: Yankees, 8-4.
Record: 15-5.Last edited by Cowswin; 04-12-2012, 06:01 PM.Comment

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
Very Frustrated with the game right now. I just got beat by the orioles 5-1. I had Freddy Garcia on the mound who pitched 7 innings of 3 run ball, not a bad start. I swear I had at least 5 double plays in this game. All my outs were hard hit and right at people. Going to get into another game(The rubber game) at Camden, looking to use a different approach.
Final Line Score
NY: 1 10 0
BAL: 5 13 0
Record: 2-3. 1.5 GB in the AL East.Comment

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
was getting no hit through 8 by the Rockies in game 2 of the series in pittsburgh. down 1-0 after Burnett spun a gem, pitching 9 innings and giving up the single run. Bottom of the ninth broke the no hitter with a single up the middle by Barmes. mckenry popped out, barajas struck out. Tabada singled up the middle to move barmes to third. 1st and 3rd with 2 outs and nate mcclouth hits a 1-2 pitch to right center for the walkoff!! amazing gameComment

6 games into my Tigers season and I'm so frustrated due to the freezing on the Player of the Game menu. I've had to replay 3 games now due to this. Ugh.Comment

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
Quick Update: The bats came alive in the rubber game. Everyone in the starting line up recorded a hit. I got HR's from Teixeira, Granderson, and Swisher. Frankie Cervelli made the most of his start for Martin recording 3 hits in 4 at bats. I'll continue to use him as he stays hot. Final Score in Baltimore.
NY 12 19 1
Baltimore 1 6 0
I'll upload my screenshot of the box score in a bit as that game felt nice after getting shut down in the 5-1 loss.
Yankees Record: 3-3 1 GB in the AL East
Side note: I made a trade shipping Michael Pineda and Joba Chamberlain to Cleveland for Jason Kipnis, and two B potential prospects. Raul Ibanez has been designated for assignment to make room for Kipnis
Looking to use a revolving door DH system until further notice.Comment

Side note -
Started a brand new Franchise late last night on my Vita. For the first time since purchasing both PS3 and Vita versions of "The Show" I haven't played the Vita version for more than an hour until last night.
Really started to grow on me more and more as the games went deeper. Really liking the Vita version. And for another side note, I went back and charged up the ol' PSP and booted up MLB 09, and holy crap I forgot how good we have it now graphically wise on the Vita. Such a huge difference!
<!-- sidenote-->< / sidenote >
Started a Franchise with the Yankees last night on the Vita. Planning to transfer it over on the PS3 later today and play some more games to catch up with the real season.
2-0, so far.
Strikeouts are extremely high though. 13 K's against Shields!!! Insane... but that's because I was getting tired and the Vita screen is so small and the fast play is way too fast for me to think about the next pitch.
The games have been extremely exciting very low score games, but with a lot of homers. Mariano already has 2 saves in the first two games but they didn't come easy. A-Rod's got 2 homers and was huge in the second game vs. Shields in the 9th inning to get the GW RBI.

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
Robinson Cano finally got his first homer of the year, a solo shot to deep right of of Luke Hochevar, on May 6.
He was the last of the everyday players that hadn't homered.
Record is 24-8, 3.5 games ahead of the Red Sox in the AL East.Comment

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
Still chugging along in my Cubs franchise and using some custom sliders that I will post in the vault if anybody is interested in them just let me know. I have pretty realistic results, varying from 1-2 runs a game all the way to some games having 14 runs. Still playing 1 game, and then simming 5. I am at the end of May and currently am 19-29. Manny Banuelos(who I acquired from the Yankees as mentioned previously) currently is in the bullpen for me and has been sub-par. He has a ERA floating around 5, yet is a strikeout machine. Ted Lilly had a head contusion and is out for 2-3 months so was placed on the 60 day DL. Randy Wells who had been a beat in the bullpen(0.66 ERA) is being asked to step in for Ted Lilly. Zambrano has a 2-3 record, however is sporting a ERA under 2.50. Marmol has also been great, having 10 saves(1 blown) and an era below 2.00. Castro is currently 1st in batting average after his 3-4 day against the Padres. He's hitting .348! Lehair still leads the Cubs in Home Runs with 9. Soriano isn't far behind with 8. The pickup of D. Lee has been great, as he is hitting .300 on the dot, with 3 home runs and already 15 RBI! Aramis Ramirez it hitting .275 with only 2 home runs. Lee missed a month more than Ramirez, and is out hitting him, and nearly all of the other cubs in RBI and Home runs. Josh Vitters has replaced Darwin Barney at 2nd base for the time being as Barney was still hitting under .200.
My pitching staff now looks like:
Randy Wells(0.66 ERA in Pen, no starts yet)
Dempster
Samardzija
Zambrano
Minor
Bullpen(From what I remember) is
Volstad
Wells
Wood
Marmol
Chamberlain
Banuelos
Lineup:
SS Castro
2B Vitters
1B Lee
3B Ramirez
LF Soriano
RF Lehair
CF Jackson
C Betancourt
Pitcher
Bench Players:
Darwin Barney
Reed Johnson(Platoon's in the OF on days off)
Jorge Soler(signed as a free agent)

Nice stats- I'm 9-8 with the Mets right now a game behind the Marlins and Nationals. Are you having a hell of a time hitting with Tejada. At 9-8, he is batting .050. I have been playing Cedeno because he can hit the ball in the game for me.Comment

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
Had an amazing game last night. Red Sox (me) vs TB Rays (cpu), Rays scored two in the 8th to go up 4-2. Ryan Sweeny was on his game as he went 3-4 and he hit a double of the green monster in the bottom of the 8th sadly enough the was the only offense for me that Inning.
I hold them to 3 quick outs to end the top of the 9th. Shoppach hits a single to start the inning. Then Ellsbury hits a DEEP double banging only about 5 foot from being a home run after drawing the count full. Next batter Pedroria strikes out and my hopes go down the drain. Gonzo steps up to bat for the last out, and on a 2-2 count gets a hanging slider that he absolutely crushes for my first ever Walk off HR for this year
