    Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

Well I am 4-2 to start the season with my Dodgers. I had to face the enigma that is James McDonald and he frustrated the hell out of me with his 93mph fastball then 75mph changeup, and that curveball....**** that curveball.

I got the Pirates back though, threw a no hitter with Clayton Kershaw!

I am like this dude. Who is 10-20 and hitting .211. I am playing as the Braves 5-17 .200avg and something is unusual for me I'm struggling with pitching ERA over 4 as a team. That is not me, but that is what makes me want to continue on with the challenge of this franchise.

Funny thing is I did Was to ashamed to admit that part, Lol. I have always been an AS type player and for some reason this year I had to drop down to Veteran Hitting and I'm even worse on Veteran than All Star

I'm in a FUNKY FUNK right now. What I would do to get on a roll. Lol

Finally settled in on playing as the Colorado Rockies and am off to a 1-2 start.

I'm playing this on the PS3 and Vita. Picked up my lone win of the opening series against the Astros on the Vita, as Scutaro hit a 3-run HR to put me up 6-0, then I nearly blew the lead but Betancourt got Carlos Lee to ground into a double play with the bases loaded to end the game.

Home opener is up next, and the Rockies will have Chacin on the mound, up against Barry Zito and the Giants.

Playing on All-Star with Timing Hitting, Classic Pitching and Analog Throwing, plus the following slider tweaks (from default):

          HUM/CPU Reliever Stamina -1
          CPU Power -1
          CPU Pitcher Control -2
          CPU Pitcher Consistency -2
          CPU Strike Frequency -2
Pitch Speed -2 (-4 on Vita)
          Fielder Run Speed -2
          Wind -1
          Currently Playing:
          MLB The Show 25 (PS5)

            Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

Ended April with a 15-8 record, one game ahead of the Mets in the East. Chipper is still raking, batting .434 to lead the league. McCann (around .300 with 5 HRs and 18 RBIs) and Freeman (.315 with 3 HRs and 14 RBIs) have been hot too. Heyward hasn't hit for average, but supplies the pop with 6 homers.

Pitching has been kind of weird. The rotation has been great. Minor has the highest ERA at 3.00. Everyone else is under 3.00. But the bullpen has struggled big time. Moylan, O'Flaherty and Venters all have ERAs around 7.

Was planning on starting very soon anyways, but based on the motivation I saw from Funkey Monkey and Hannah, I'm planning on starting my franchise and it has a lofty end goal that will probably take 2 years or so....

I'm planning on playing 10 years, full play, as the Tigers. I'm a hometown Detroiter, my future wife loves that I go to work and do the right things so I'm afforded full latitude to game a lot. I bought the PS3 because I saw that The Show had everything I wanted, and I am fully invested in making a commitment to seeing my Tigers through 10 years of baseball.

Moderator: I did not see a franchise story subforum for The Show, and didn't see it covered in the rules -- is this the only acceptable place to post such things? Thank you.

It's going to be right around 1800 games played, 1620 regular season, and a maximum postseason if you have to play every game is 20 games (1,5,7,7=20)... so around 1800 games, unless I brick the playoffs a LOT. I'm 33 and due to athletic injuries of my own, most of my hobbies are not practical or possible for me anymore.

QUESTION: Am I going to miss out on anything major if I download OSFM tonight and start? Also, does anyone see anything wrong with going Pure Analog Hitting/Pulse on All-Star for statistical realism?

I got motivated by Funkey Monkey and Hannah showing their ideas, so I've decided to share mine as well. I'll probably post it up at TSN once I get it going as well.

              Go Tigers!

Threw my 1st no hitter with Gavin Floyd since MLB 99 using Randy Johnson. In the 1st there was a can of corn pop up to center and Alejandro De Aza flat out dropped it..... In the 2nd Alexei Ramirez threw a perfect lazer to Dunn at 1st and dropped it.... Without those 2 plays it would have been a perfect game. Floyd only struck out 3 hitters getting 24 outs on the ball in play.

I had my recorder on for a league game so I got to record the final inning and highlights of the game.

                    Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

After my D-Backs franchise had started so well, winning the first five, the mediocrity has arrived. After getting swept on the road by the Rockies, and barely getting by the Pirates, who have the worst record in MLB, I needed something to spark my guys into life.

                    Enter bobblehead night

I'd never really touched the promotional side of things before, but I needed something to take my mind off the actual baseball.

So, with my attendance doubled for the promise of the first 9,000 fans getting a free bobble head, I sent Josh Collmenter to the mound, who had started the season by putting up an ugly ERA of 6.54.

But he delivered, throwing 7 innings of 3 hit ball, walking 1 and striking out 4.

The only problem was Jair Jurrens was matching Collmenter every step of the way. It took me until the bottom of the seventh to get something done at the plate. Justin Upton hit a lead off triple, before Ryan Roberts delivered a SAC FLY to the warning track, plating Upton. After fist pumping for about five minutes, I realised I hadn't warmed up my set up man Hernandez. So top of the 8th, Collmenter comes out to the mound one last time to throw another perfect inning, throwing 112 pitches in total, before JJ Putz slammed the door in the ninth.

I can't generate any offense "That's my fault" and its driving me crazy I'm batting .211 as a team on the season and the closest team to me is at .234. Go figure. I'm patient at the plate and I could get a lemon from the cpu and 9/10 its a pop up

Gotta make a decision on what I'm gonna do by weeks end as I don't want to go to much further if I am going to restart
Have you been playing constantly? I find that if I take a couple days off sometimes I'll start hitting better. Sometimes a slight camera tweak can also give a fresh look and help with my hitting woes.

I'll start giving more updates in the offseason, but I just thought some people might be interested in knowing that I'm up one game on the Nationals (as the Phillies) in the NL Wildcard race, with one game to go. Who is it against? The Nationals of course. Man, I love this game.

I don't know why, but it seems like most of my teams prospects options are used when I send them down during spring training, or they get taken off the MLB roster for the playoffs.

So just the 3rd season, I have so many guys with 1 or 0 options left

                            Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

The year 2012 came to an end in San Francisco.
After a very good year the Giants where eliminated by the Brewers in the NLCS in game 7 after CY Young award winner Madison Bumgarner gave up a grand slam in the 7th inning to Corey Hart.

After all it was a good year for the Giants. Especially for the pitchers.

Timmy Lincecum went 14-12 with a 2.92 ERA and 253 SO, which will make him the NL leader in SO.
Matt Cain went 15-9 with a 2.70 ERA and 199 SO, also a stellar season for him.
And then there was Madison Bumgarner, well lets just say he was truly amazing this season. He went 20-6 with a 2.25 ERA and 195 SO, good for the NL CY Young award.
Barry Zito had an all-star season for the first time in San Francisco. At the allstar break he was 11-0 with a 1.76 ERA. At the end of the season his stats looked like this 15-4 with a 2.74 ERA and 198 SO. There where only 3 pitchers on the ML roster with an ERA above 3. Ryan vogelsong with 3.09, Sergio Romo with 3.25 and Brian Wilson with 3.33.
Wilson saved 46 games for the giants this year, with only 5 Blown saves in the season. Jeremy Affeldt went to the Midsummer classic also and ended his stellar season with a 1.44 ERA.

Lets talk about the line up now. After some needed trades the giants line up looked like this

                            SS Elvis Andrus
                            CF Cameron Maybin
                            3B Kung Fu Panda
                            C Buster Posey
                            1B Brandon Belt
                            LF Melky Cabrera
                            RF Torii Hunter
                            2B Freddy Sanchez

All had a good season, not stellar, but good.
                            Here are some stats

                            Andrus .258 BA 7HR 49RBI and 39SB
                            Maybin .265 BA 18HR 64RBI and 26 SB
                            Panda .290 BA 29HR 82RBI
                            Posey .301 BA 24HR 77RBI
                            Belt .262 BA 19HR 79RBI
                            Melky .277 BA 15HR 70RBI
                            Torii .246 BA 24HR 82RBI
                            Freddy .272 BA 6HR 54RBI

As you can see Posey ended where he left with his rookie season.
Maybin had an breakout season in Homers. The Panda had an 36 game hitting streak going into September. Torii didnt had an superb season but came through when i needed him.

In the offseason Vogelsong retired. The Giants Acquired LF Carlos Quintin as Melky went to the Bronx. The Giants made some moves to bolster the Bench by signing Michael Saunders, Edwin Encarnacion and Sean Rodriguez. The only new face in the bullpen is Jonathan Bronxton to be a new Set up man for The Beard, as Romo becomes a MRP.

Lets hope the Giants will get another World Series ring in 2013.

Just had my greatest comeback in this game so far. It was game 1 of the ALCS with me, the Athletics (fantasy draft, not the real A's lol) against the Twins. It was the top of the 8th, I was on the road, and we were down 1-6. Then after solo shots from Brett Lawrie and Brett Jackson, but allowing a run in the bottom of the 8th, it was 3-7 going into the 9th inning.

First batter, Matt LaPorta, gets a single past the SS
Next, Ryan Doumit comes up and draws a 4 pitch walk
Danny Espinosa is now up and also gets a walk, bases are loaded now
I pinch hit Jason Bartlett and he hits a 2 run single
                              5-7 now
Alfonso Soriano is now at the plate and does what he does best, strikes out.
                              5-7 with 1 out now
Brett Jackson is up and he hits a sac fly to center, scoring a runner
                              6-7 with 2 outs
Then, Hunter Pence, the man the myth and the legend, doubles to the gap to bring home the tying run!
                              7-7 2 outs
Then I flew out and struck out to end the inning

I shut them down in the bottom of the ninth, score one run in the 10th off another sac fly, then marmol came in and shut the door in the 10th, Athletic's win game 1!

My Angels just finished a 4 game series against the Tigers, the series finale was a pitchers dual CJ Wilson struck out 11 in 8 innings of work and own a 1-0 shutout. Now it's home to Anaheim and a 3 game series against the 1st place Texas Rangers, I hope that Howie Kendricks bat shows up.
