    Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

Just finished my 12th game in my Nationals franchise. Really enjoying this team so far. Adam LaRoche has been absolutely on fire leading the league in HR's (6) and RBI (15). On the other hand, I have hit a pretty atrocious slump with Ryan Zimmerman batting .146 with him through the first 12.

    Notable Team Performances
Boston Red Sox with the best record in the majors, 9-2
Washington Nationals (ME!) tied for second-best with a record of 9-3
Houston Astros leading the NL Central, 7-4
Texas Rangers with an unbelievable record of..... 4-7

Will update more often when I get to May.

      Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

I'm thinking of starting a franchise with a team that will be ready to compete in a few years with a good farm system. Any ideas? Also, wondering how can you compare prospects with "A" potential in MLB the show to MLB 2k12? Thanks

        Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

Just started a franchise.. I did a fantasy draft and then took the team i got an imported them into a normal franchise.. So basically turned force trades ON and made my team in a new franchise.

        CF - Grady Sizemore
        2B - Daniel Murphy
        3B - Ryan Braun
        1B - Edwin Encarnacion
        RF - Bryce Harper
        LF - JD Martinez
        C- Yasmani Grandal
SS - Joe Panik (grew up with him)
        P

        Rotation

        Latos
        Gallardo
        Hellickson
        Peavy
        Taillon

        Bullpen

        Street
        Bard
        Chapman
        Cashner
        Parnell

It was a 2-0 win for the Brewers, scoring both of their runs in the 5th on a Grienke RBI-Single and a Weeks RBI-Triple in successive at-bats.

The Crew will now travel to Atlanta, bringing their 3-4 record with them.
Game One against the Braves was one to remember. I was down early and let Beachy get a large amount of confidence before going into the later innings. An unsung hero, Alex Gonzalez, came through with a 3-run HR to give the Crew the lead at 3-2. McCann would tie it in the bottom half of the 7th on a Sac Fly, scoring Bourn. Fast forward to the top of the 8th when Corey Hart hits a two-run oppo taco to give the Crew their second lead of the night and they would hold onto this one, tallying the final of 6-3. It really was a great comeback effort and I had to scrap and take what I was given to get a Dubya. Below are pictures of the Box Score and the Game Recap.

Side Note: I haven't been playing my Brewers much, due to my enlarged interest in my Blue Jays franchise. I just made it to the end of May and will have a LARGE update later. Starting with my Slugfest in Arlington...

              • Just a couple quick notes before I do a bigger update tonight.
              • I'm 7-4, .5 games behind the Braves.
              • Ryan Howard broke his shin and is out 1-2 months. Not good, especially consider I reallly have no one to put in his place. My lineup was already weak.
              • One possible move I have toyed with is a surging Joe Blanton (3.60 ERA last year, no attribute regression to speak of) for an older Michael Young, who recently signed a deal with the Twins. Given the Twins need for SP (they have Valencia at 3B already), and my need for a corner infielder, it seems like the perfect trade.
              • Once Howard gets back, I'd simply move Young back over to 3rd.
              • My team ERA sits at 3.36.
              • Halladay has started off the year with a 4.67 ERA. Time to panic?

              (small) Update:
              • Michael Young is officially a Phillie! It took a little more than I wanted (Joe Blanton, a B prospect, and a C prospect). I get the feeling if I had held off until the Twins were officially out of contention, I might have gotten a better deal. Oh well.
              • Ty Wigginton has been released.
              • Worley has a nasty 1.56 ERA right now. Definitely one of the two biggest breakouts in my franchise, right next to JMJ.
              • Mets lead the division by 1.0 game, around the halfway mark of April.

                Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

Just dropped the first 2 of a 3 game series with Oakland. Hopefully I can salvage the series and win the 3rd game. Both games were lost late. My hitting has been tanking lately. The last game my defense(and a little of my own fault) let me down late to contribute to the loss.

                  Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

So as I previously posted I had a Brewers Franchise started and on year 2, unfortunatley my daughter turned my ps3 off by accident before I could save. So now im starting over, I'm playing 1 and simming 10.

With 5 games left in May my brewers are at the top of the NL Central with a record of 29-16, 3.5 games ahead of STL. I did make some trades and plan on making some more before the deadline.

I traded with the Reds, Phillies, Pirates and Mets.

                  Reds
Scott Rolen and Billy Hamilton for Aramis Ramirez and Alex Gonzalez

                  Phillies
Freddy Galvis, Roy Halladay and Antonio Bastardo for Rickie Weeks

                  PIT
McCutchen, Burnett and Grilli for Greinke

                  Mets
Matt Harvey for Eric Farris - they offered me this

Weeks so far this season is hitting .299 with 6HR 36RBI a .537 Slug and .326 OBP

Greinke is 6-2 with an ERA of 2.35

I will be looking to trade Halladay and AJ come the deadline due the massive amount of money I have locked into those two guys which is why I think the Phils and Pirates gave them up.

I will also be looking to deal Hart, I dont think he is worth the 9 mil he is owed.

So with that this is my team until the deadline.

                  LF Nyjer Morgan
                  2B Freddy Galvis
                  CF McCutchen
                  3B Rolen
                  RF Hart
                  C Lucroy
                  1B Gamel
                  SS Billy Hamilton

                  Rotation

                  Halladay
                  Gallardo
                  Marcum
                  Burnett
                  Narveson

*Braun is injured at the moment and will be for 1-2 months

                      Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

Started a Blue Jays franchise, in an attempt to play 162 games. Just finished my first series, winning 2 out of 3 against the Indians. The games were 11-6, 4-2, and 1-7. I will try to update after each series I play. Here are some notes from this one:

                      • The opening day game was crazy. I was down 5-0 into the 5th, but responded with 11 unanswered runs to win it easily.
                      • I hit 7 home runs in the 1st two games, Lowrie and Rasmus had 2 each.
                      • I got 12.2 innings total out of my starters in the 3 games. I'm not going to win many games with production like that, and I definitely won't be able to compete in the A.L. East.
                      • Romero lasted just 2 innings in his start. He has an ERA of 22.50, and Alvarez has an ERA of 11.81
                      • As bad as my starters were, the bullpen was phenomenal. In 11.1 innings, they gave up just 1 run.
                      • Derek Lowe's sinker had me fooled all game. He only had 1 strikeout in 7 innings, but after getting 28 hits in the first two games, I was held to just 6 singles.

                      Around the league:
                      • J.J. Hardy has 4 HR's in 12 AB's to lead the league.
                      • The Braves swept the Mets, the Giants swept Arizona, and the Rangers swept the White Sox.

I now head home to host the Red Sox. Brett Cecil, Kyle Drabek and Ricky Romero are my 3 starters.

I agree I was shocked it went through, I offered Greinke for McCutchen straight up and that didnt work but once I added AJ they were interested and I figured it wouldnt hurt to try to push it with Grilli.

                          Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

Finally finished June and had a great month of baseballwith the White Sox. Finished the month going 18-9 and only 2 games under .500 sitting at 38-40. 5.5 games back of both the division and the wild card race. Paul Konerko which was doing well prior really stepped up his game hitting 10 homeruns in the month. Brent Morel came off the DL and played in the last 3 games of the month finishing with a 4 walk game against the Yankees. Jon Gilmore filled in well batting .248 with 3 clutch homeruns and 14 RBI's. 1 homerun was a tie breaking extra inning bomb and another was a top of the 9th game tying homerun capping off a 3 RBI game for him in the middle of the month. Alejandro De Aza got hurt and is out for most if not all of the rest of the season so Jordan Danks assumes the duties in center while Conor Jackson get's some MLB playing time once again. De Aza was really my only stolen base threat so I am without any ture speedsters on my team. Jordan Danks and Brent Morel can steal a base or 2, but will get thrown out just as many times as they are safe so it's a real high risk with them.

The only real dissapointment this month was the play of who I hope to be my future closer in Addison Reed. He was doing well with a ERA around 4.70, but was spot closing and doing a good job, but in his last 7 appearances he has given up 14 runs and is real close to getting sent down to AAA while we try to make a move for another relief pitcher to see if we can actually contend this season or fade off into the sunset like I plan. July is going to be a tough month with series against the Rangers, Red Sox and Yankees to name a few so it's make or break time to see if this team really has what it takes to make a run.

I took 2 out of 3 at home to Boston to improve my record to 4-2. I lost the first game 4-2, then won the next two games, 9-5 and 7-0. Here are a few notes from this series:

                            • It took until game #6 before one of my starters was able to complete 6 innings. Ricky Romero pitched 7 shutout innings in the series finale.
                            • Brett Cecil was on track to complete the 6th, before hurting himself on a pitch with one out in the inning. He is out for 1-2 weeks, and has been placed on the D.L.
                            • Jesse Litsch has been called up from Triple-A to take Cecil's place in the rotation.
                            • My bullpen blew a 2-1 lead in the 8th inning in game 1, otherwise I would have had a sweep.
                            • Yunel Escobar leads the team with a .409 average. Colby Rasmus leads the team with 3 home runs. Brett Lawrie has the team lead in RBI, with 8.

                            Around the league:

                            • The Giants are the only team still undefeated. They are 5-0, and have a 2.5 game lead over the Padres and Dodgers. The other divisions all are led by a half-game.
                            • Andre Ethier is batting .478, with 11 RBI. Both stats lead the Majors.
                            • Carlos Marmol has saved 4 of the Cubs' 5 wins.

I now have a 3-game home series against the Orioles. Brandon Morrow (1-0, 3.38), Henderson Alvarez (0-1, 11.81), and Jesse Litsch (season debut) are my starters.

Finished up the Rockies series with a loss. Started off the Atlanta series with a tough loss, Jason Heyward walk-off in the 9th.

Correia was sucking *** so I sent him to triple-A and called up Gerrit Cole. If cole performs I'll keep him in the rotation, if not, i'll send correia to oakland for Tyson Ross, one of my favorite young pitchers. I can also snag a good reliever in Fautino de Los Santos.

Alex Presley's been on a tear. .456 in his lsat 10 ballgames.

                                Oakland Athletics Franchise Update
Oakland A's 2012 World Series Champions!
The A's come from the brink of elimination, trailing the Red Sox 2-0 in the best-of-5 ALDS to a sweep of the Brewers in the World Series.

The A's dropped both games 1 and 2 of the ALDS at home, where the Red Sox got dominant performances from Chris Carpenter and Josh Beckett. When the series shifted to Boston the A's gained new life, after Jair Jurrjens picked up the win in game 3 and James Shields won game 4 on three days rest. Game 5 was back in Oakland, with a game 2 rematch of Josh Beckett vs. Brett Anderson. This time the A's got the best of Beckett and won game 5, sending the Wild Card winning Red Sox home.

After sweeping the Yankees, the owners of the league's best regular season record, the Tigers were waiting for the A's in the ALCS. Game 1 was Cy Young Winner Justin Verlander vs Jair Jurrjens. The A's scored two early runs off Verlander, but eventually allowed the Tigers to tie the game at 2. That scored held through 9 innings, and game 1 went to extras. The score remained at 2-2 until the bottom of the 14th inning, where Seth Smith hit a walk off pinch hit home run. Game 2 went to Detroit, tying the series at 1-1 before heading to Detroit for three games. All three games in Detroit went to Oakland and the A's advanced to their first World Series since 1990.

The Brewers faced the NL West champion Diamondbacks in the NLCS, where the won 4-2 to advance to the World Series. Game 1 of the Fall Classic featured Zach Greinke vs James Shields, and Oakland took game 1 at home. Game two matched up Yovanni Gallardo vs Brett Anderson, and the A's won again, taking a 2-0 lead to Milwaukee. The A's won the first game in Milwaukee, a match up of NL Cy Young winner Shawn Marcum vs. Jair Jurrjens, to take a commanding 3-0 lead in the series. Game 4 was a rematch of game 1, Greinke vs Shields, and just like the first time, the A's took home the win, and the franchise's tenth world title.

Jemile Weeks was named World Series MVP, and Yoenis Cespedes was MVP of the Playoffs.
