Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
After getting dominated by CC Sabathia in game 1 of the NLDS, Ubaldo Jimenez and my Indians only managed 1 run in game 1.
Game 2, Arod put the Yanks up 1-0 in the first. Carlos Santana ties the game up in the second with a solo shot of his own. But the story for both teams were ERRORS. The Yankees committed 5 errors, 2 of which by Robinson Cano( talk about playoff butterflies, he was pretty bad at the plate too).
On the other hand, we were not able to capitalize and get runners across home plate. At the end of nine innings, the game was tied at 2. My bullpen was great in the clutch innings.
My nerves kept piling up as we played 7 more innings. 3 times the Yankees led off with a single and I thought for sure they would win, but again my bullpen was huge.
Top of the 16th with 1 out, Travis Hafner who was like 0-5, doubles to left center. Kotchman comes thru with a single to center and in comes Hafner to score and give us the lead, 3-2.
At this point I still have Chris Perez in the bullpen. I have no idea how I managed to NOT use him. But like I said earlier, the rest of the bullpen was money! There were times in the regular season that Chris Perez imploded in the 9th, so that was a managerial decision that I was stuck with.
So I decide to roll the dice, and bring in a warmed up Takashi Saito. And let me tell you, alot easier than I thought. 1-2-3 bottom of the 16th in the new Yankee Stadium, game 2 of the NLDS. Pretty classic game.

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
In my Padres Franchise I just drafted a C overall, A potential RF named Roy Hobbs. How ironic is that?
SpoilerIf you've seen "The Natural", you know what I'm talking about
I've heard that sound 3 times... once was Babe Ruth, the second was Josh Gibson, and the third was Bo Jackson- Buck O'Neil

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
20 games into a Phillies fantasy draft.. I'm 13-7 so far and tied with ATL for 1st in the division (I play every game). I was wondering if anyone knows any cheap, decent lefties out of the bullpen because I only have righties and my minor leaguers aren't "setting the world on fire".
Rotation: (Record, ERA, WHIP)
RHP - Roy Halladay (1-0, 2.81, 1.09)
RHP - Trevor Cahill (2-1, 3.49, 1.27)

Started up an A's franchise since my original ps3 died last week and I lost my tribe franchise. Using tnk's sliders w all-star difficulty and analog pitching/hitting.
Made a minor move in the first month. Wanted to get a little veteran presence on the team and get a solid, switch hitting utility man that can fill in mainly at 3B, SS, and 2B as needed. So I shipped SS Brandon Hicks to Boston in exchange for Nick Punto. So far he has filled in and helped the team nicely.
Just finished up April with an 11-12 record. Starting pitching has been sketchy with B. Anderson, McCarthy, and Braden all sporting ERAs above 4.50. Colon and Parker rounding out the rotation with ERAs of 3.77 and 3.48. Bullpen has been pretty solid with the exception of the closer, Ryan Cook. After his 3rd blown save of the month, I sent him down to AAA and moved Balfour into the closer role. He has locked up saves in our last 2 wins.
My best hitter so far is Coco Crisp. He started out slow but he has been on a tear the last few games! He just hit for the cycle against Boston and is batting .317 now on the year. He leads the team with 15 RBI and is tied with Reddick and Cespedes for the team lead in HRs with 4. Reddick started out hot but has been in a slump the last few games and has dropped below batting .300 to currently .280. Cespedes is getting hot again as he is leading the team with a .324 BA. He just hit the go ahead solo HR (2nd of the game) in the top of the 10th against Boston to help take the lead and secure the win on the road!
The bats are starting to get consistent and the pitching seems to be coming around in the last few games as well. The extra inning 7-6 win on the road against the Red Sox has given us some momentum to take on into May and try to make up the 4 gm lead the Rangers have in the AL West! Enjoyed the first month even though we finished a game under .500. Headed into 2nd game of the Red Sox series and then heading down to Tampa to take on the Rays for the weekend series! Gonna try and start May off with a W!Comment

Another great extra inning game in Boston as my A's pulled out a close one. Bartolo Colon pitched 6 scoreless innings before allowing 2 men to reach base in the 7th while up 3-0. The bullpen comes on and gives up a base hit allowing a run to score before getting out of the inning up 3-1. Sean Doolittle is on to pitch in the 8th to face the first two lefties of the Red Sox. Both reach base and Middlebrooks pops a double off the monster to tie the game at 3-3.
On to the top of the tenth. Coco Crisp comes up to the plate with 2 outs. Works the count to 2-2 and then deposits the slider over the center field wall to put the A's up 4-3! Balfour comes on in the top of the 10th to attempt the save. Giving Jemile Weeks the day off and starting Punto at second seemed to pay off defensively for Bob Melvin. Ellsbury comes up to lead off the 10th and hits a scorcher towards the hole between 1st and 2nd. Punto springs to the left, makes a diving stop, and throws out the speedy Ellsbury from his knees! That was a big out preventing them from getting a good baserunner on base with ortiz and gonzalez coming up. Balfour does his job and gets the next 2 outs to pick up another save and secure the 4-3 win!
Great game in Beantown with the A's taking the first 2 games of the series and looking to complete the sweep tomorrow. Jonny Gomes took home player of the game honors as he broke out of his season long slump and hit 2 hrs and driving in 3 of the 4 A's runs.Comment

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
Playing way better than last year. I'm at .500 with a 23-23 record. Last game, beat the Padres 3-2 with another great performance by Johan Santana (6 IP, 0 ER... etc.). Now I got 2 more games against 'em, then to face Philly & St. Louis.Originally posted by Barney StinsonNever in the history of New York City nightclubs has there been a shortage of dudes. Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
Update on my Dodgers franchise.. The team's now sitting at 31-25, a game behind the Rockies who are 31-23 in the NL West. I'm in the middle of a 4 game series in Philly and I just broke a 3 game losing streak I was in, beating them 7-3 in the second game of the series. Kershaw picked up his 9th win of the year, pitching 7 strong innings, allowing 3 earned runs and striking out 5.
With the real life acquisitions of Hanley Ramirez, Randy Choate, Brandon League and Shane Victorino, I've mirrored them in my franchise. I haven't played a game with Victorino yet, but I'm just about to and it should be interesting since I'm in the middle of a series with the Phillies, so he's just gonna have to walk across to our dugout, a-la Ichiro!
Hanley has been a solid contributor in my lineup, hitting 5th behind Ethier. In the 6 games he's played for me he's hit .272/.363/.409, driving in 8 runs and hitting one homer (a three-run long ball in my last game against the Phillies). League struck out 2 in an inning and a thirds work of relief in the 7-3 victory.
As for individual players stats:
Dee Gordon: .290/.342/.406 0 HR's, 14 RBI's, 20 SB's, 10 doubles, 7 triples, 12 BB, 28 K's
Mark Ellis: .237/.276/.371 4 HR's, 22 RBI's, 13 doubles, 10 BB, 30 K's
Matt Kemp: .340/.441/.703 19 HR's, 42 RBI's, 13 SB's, 9 doubles, 5 triples, 35 BB, 56 K's
Andre Ethier: .298/.381/.597 11 HR's, 37 RBI's, 2 SB's, 14 doubles, 5 triples, 26 BB, 37 K's
Hanley Ramirez: .261/.311/.483 10 HR's, 39 RBI's, 6 SB's, 8 doubles, 4 triples, 12 BB, 33 K's
Shane Victorino: .240/.299/.380 4 HR's, 21 RBI's, 4 SB's, 15 doubles, 16 BB, 32 K's
Juan Rivera: .259/.314/.451 8 HR's, 33 RBI's, 13 doubles, 15 BB, 30 K's
A.J. Ellis: .258/.339/.351 2 HR's, 16 RBI's, 1 double, 1 triple, 13 BB, 14 K's
Bench:
James Loney: .284/.327/.404 2 HR's, 22 RBI's, 15 doubles, 2 triples, 14 BB, 25 K's (56 games played: 208 AB's)
Jerry Hairston Jr: .246/.297/.388 2 HR's, 23 RBI's, 11 doubles, 1 triple, 10 BB, 20 K's (44 games played: 134 AB's)
Bobby Abreu: .176/.256/.365 3 HR's, 8 RBI's, 3 SB's, 3 doubles, 1 triple, 8 BB, 10 K's (45 games played: 74 AB's)
Tony Gwynn Jr: .400/.455/.400 0 HR's, 1 RBI, 3 SB's, 1 BB, 3 K's (14 games played: 10 AB's)
I've just sent Matt Treanor down to triple-A after he was constantly disappointing and bought up Tim Federowicz as my back up catcher. He went 2-4 with an RBI in his first game, so I'm pretty happy with that decision.
Pitching:
Clayton Kershaw: 9-2, 2.48 ERA, 93 K's, 90.2 IP, 1.17 WHIP
Chad Billingsley: 4-5, 4.26 ERA, 51 K's, 67.2 IP, 1.27 WHIP
Ted Lilly: 3-2, 1.62 ERA, 43 K's, 55.2 IP, 0.93 WHIP
Chris Capuano: 3-3, 3.10 ERA, 38 K's, 40.2 IP, 1.40 WHIP
Aaron Harang: 5-1, 5.11 ERA, 59 K's, 68.2 IP, 1.35 WHIP
Bullpen:
Rubby De La Rosa: 4-3, 4.01 ERA, 58 K's, 51.2 IP, 1.41 WHIP
Randy Choate: 2-1, 2.39 ERA, 22 K's, 26.1 IP, 0.91 WHIP
Scott Elbert: 0-1, 5.16 ERA, 15 K's, 22.2 IP, 1.90 WHIP
Javy Guerra: 0-1, 4.57 ERA, 19 K's, 21.2 IP, 1.38 WHIP
Matt Guerrier: 2-2, 5.65 ERA, 8 K's, 14.1 IP, 1.74 WHIP
Mike MacDougal: 0-0, 1.96 ERA, 17 K's, 18.1 IP, 1.09 WHIP
Brandon League: 13 saves, 5.71 ERA, 14 K's, 17.1 IP, 1.62 WHIP
Kenley Jansen: 14 saves, 6.05 ERA, 25 K's, 19.1 IP, 1.24 WHIP
Matt Kemp leads the National League in home runs (19), runs (43), slugging % (.703) and OPS (1.145). He's 3rd in batting average (.340) behind Nyjer Morgan (.360) and Joey Votto (.357), 2nd in hits (71) behind Troy Tulowitzki (72), 2nd in RBI's (42) behind Michael Stanton (46) and 2nd in base on balls (35) behind Joey Votto (36). Dee Gordon is first in triples (7) and 2nd in stolen bases (20) behind Michael Bourn (23). Kershaw leads the entire majors in wins with 9 and leads the National League in strikeouts with 93 (one behind Justin Verlander with 94).
Kemp is first in the MVP race, with Votto (.357/.458/.653 15 HR's, 39 RBI's) and Troy Tulowitzki (.321/.387/.607 15 HR's, 40 RB's) trailing, and Kershaw is first in the NL Cy Young race, with Clayton Richard (7-2, 2.12 ERA, 46 K's) and Mark Buehrle (6-0, 2.33 ERA, 46 K's) behind him.
As you can see, both Kemp and Kershaw are playing brilliantly so far and the additions of Ramirez and Victorino add some batting help and fielding improvements whilst Randy Choate and Brandon League improve our bullpen.
I'm gonna update after the next game just to see how Victorino did in his first Dodgers game against his former team.
Hope you're enjoying following!Comment

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
Just finished my next game and my first with Victorino in the lineup and all I can say is.. WOW!
We won the game 8-4 with Chad Billingsley picking up his 5th win, giving up 4 earned runs and striking out 5 in 6 innings. As for Victorino, he dominated against his former team, going 3-4 with a home run, 3 RBI's and a stolen base. I started him second in the order, and after Dee Gordon got on base with a single and stole 2nd (his 21st steal of the season), Victorino was able to drive him in with a single. He then stole 2nd (for his 5th steal of the season) but was stranded at 3rd. Top of the 6th, Victorino comes in with Billinglsey on first (after an unlikely line drive single) and homers to right field whilst facing Josh Lindblom... The guy he was traded for! You couldn't make it up! That put me up 8-4 and that remained the final score through the last 3 innings.. Victorino also walked in the top of the 9th to cap off a superb debut for me.
Other notables from the game:
Matt Kemp: 1-4, 2 K's
Juan Rivera: 1-4, 2 RBI's
Mark Ellis: 1-4, HR
Hunter Pence: 2-4, HR, 3 RBI's, 2B
Ryan Howard: 2-3, 2 2B's
Cole Hamels: 5.0 IP, 7 H, 6 R, 4 ER, 3 BB's, 3 K's
We're now sitting at 32-25, with one more game in Philly before June interleague play starts in SafeCo Field against the Mariners and then the Angels at Dodger Stadium.. Looking forward to having a DH and then the battle of LA!Comment

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
In honor of the trade deadline, I figured I would give you guys a trade deadline update for my fantasy drafted Phillies. We are currently at 59-43 and up 2.5 games on the Braves in the NL east. We had some surprising performers, and some disappointing performers, and just a few that were where we were anticipating them to be.
To start of, I have had two very pleasant surprises on my pitching staff. The 22 year Mike Montgomery(B Overall, A POT) has been doing great pitching to an 8-2 record so far with a 3.2 ERA. Even better, John Grabow (33YO, C, C) is doing fantastic. He has 9-1 record out of the bullpen with 0.89 ERA! He is second in Cy Young voting so far. On the other hand, both Mat Latos, and Brandon Beachy have struggled. Latos is 6-7 with a 4.28 ERA. Beachy is 2-5 with a 5.89 ERA, and lost his job in the rotation back in May.
Now, on to batters. Nobody has been absolutely amazing but two players who stand out to me are Dexter Fowler who has been my most consistent hitter with a .328 average, and Mike Trout who is batting .295 with 21 homers. I am definitely struggling at SS with Brendan Ryan struggling, and a trade for J.J hardy not really working out (more on that later).
Some moves I have made:
Acquired JJ Hardy and Roman Mendez (B Pot) from the Braves for Wilson Ramos
Acquired Blake Hawksworth from the White Sox for Brody Colvin
Acquired F. Lindor, N. Johnson, and N. Arenado from the Braves for L. Scott and J. Sellers
Acquired Carlos Correa and Travis Ishikawa from the Angels for JJ Hardy and Lou Marson
Acquired Josh Lindblom from the Mets for Joey Terdoslavic and Beamer WellsComment

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
I just got the game and I'm going to be starting a Franchise with either the Mets or the Royals. If I go for the Mets, my team would be:
Catcher: Josh Thole
3rd Base: David Wright
2nd Base: Daniel Murphy
Shortstop: Ruben Tejada
1st Base: Ike Davis
Left Field: Jason Bay (I'll probably get rid of him, though) or Lucas Duda
Center Field: Andres Torres
Right Field: Kirk Nieuwenhuis or Mike Baxter
Rotation:
1. Santana
2. Pelfrey
3. Gee
4. Dickey
5. Niese
Bullpen:
LR: Beato
LR: Parnell
LR: Edgin
MR: Ramirez
MR: Acosta
MR: Hefner
SU: Byrdak
SU: Rauch
Closer: Frank Francisco
For the Royals, my roster would be more like this:
Catcher: Salvador Perez
DH: Billy Butler
3rd Base: Mike Moustakas
2nd Base: Chris Getz (I'll more than likely shop him around, however)
1st Base: Eric Hosmer
Left Field: Alex Gordon
Center Field: Lorenzo Cain
Right Field: Jeff Francoeur
Rotation:
1. Jonathan Sanchez (I'll be trading him at some point)
2. Bruce Chen
3. Aaron Crow
4. Luke Hochevar
5. Danny Duffy
Bullpen:
LR: Tim Collins
LR: Felipe Paulino
LR: Kelvin Herrera
LR: Greg Holland
MR: Jose Mijares
MR: Will Smith
SU: Everett Teaford
SU: Ryan Verdugo
Closer: Jonathan Broxton
I'm leaning toward the Mets, since they are my favorite team. However, the Royals are stacked with so much young talent waiting to unleash their potential. Once I start my franchise, you'll know what team I've picked. I'll take it series-by-series and trade as needed unless it's close to the deadline.Last edited by MetsFan4Ever; 07-31-2012, 08:16 PM.MLB 12 The Show Mets Franchise: 75-87 (Year 1)
