Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
Welp, it's been awhile. I have a year 1 Mets 2012 Franchise update for y'all. I'm at the trading deadline tied with the Nats for first. It's been interesting fa sho!
Duda has been ridiculous. He was ASG MVP and is well on his way to taking home the same award for the seaosn. After terrible starts Ike, Wright and even Bay have been very good. Hairston stole some regular ABs, then tore his Achilles and is done for the year. Torress and Kirk have been regulated to the bench, Torress is a trade candidate.
I sent Murph to Texas for Craig Gentry and a low level catching prospect depth to shore up depth. I've had so many injuries i've been forced to sign guys such as Aaron Rowand and Jeff Sonnastine to field complete teams in the minors. I believe have 8 players on the 60 Day DL, it's insane.
Unlike the real Mets, my bullpen has been excellent (with the exception of Rauch). Ramon Ramirez and Parnell have been lights out. Dickey, Johan and Niese are my consistents. Harvey is solid so far.
That's it for now, hopefully my team is healthy for remainder of year lolComment

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
Just had a crazy back and forth game 6 of Alcs 2013, red sox (me) vs Yankees I was facing elimination, about 5 lead changes. Down to my last strike in 9th down 2, salty hits one to dead center granderson just misses it, homerun tie ball game! Now to the bottom half tied, wouldn't you know they manage based loaded one out and Youkilis comes to the plate( I trades him late 2012 not to new York, must have been dealt again) 98 mph fast ball from bard, but wait all runners are in motion and Youk lays down a successful suicide squeeze and I'm eliminated! Wow that was a tough game to swallow, on to 2014MLB: Boston Red Sox
NFL: New England Patriots
NBA: Boston Celtics
NHL: Boston Bruins
NCAA: Uconn Huskies and Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
My awful weekend in DC ends with a 5-3 loss to the Nationals. Washington gets the sweep to close to within 2 games of the division lead.
I managed four runs the whole series - all on solo homers. And I didn't even face Strasburg or Gonzalez.
Rumors abound that the Braves may be about to make a deadline deal ...Comment

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
Pretty crazy game last night against the Rays (went 17 innings
) but was able to pull out the Win!
...
I had just called up D.J. Mitchell before the game while sending down David Phelps (ERA over 7), simply couldn't pitch with him and after going through my entire bullpen, I brought in Mitchell. Pitched well with him and he got the "W".

...
I was 5GB the Rays heading into this series but after winning game one (8-4) and game two (1-0), I'm now going for the sweep and inching my way back to that first place spot in the East!
After this series, I'll be heading to Fenway for a 3-game set to wrap up the first half of the season.Comment

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
My struggles continue. Stanton hit two bombs to lead the Marlins to a 7-4 win over the Braves. That's four losses in a row and five of six. That Nationals have pulled to within a game of first place now.
After the game, the Braves acquired shortstop Jed Lowrie from the Astros. The Braves gave up shortstop Tyler Pastornicky, along with minor league pitchers Henderson Alvarez and Adam Russell. Atlanta also received minor league pitchers Kyle Weiland and Fernando Rodriguez in the deal.Comment

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
I've finished out April with a staggering 4 wins, talk about struggling. I've had everything bad happen; starters getting bombarded, bullpen collapses, injuries, cold spells with the bats.
This is the worst season I have ever had and I guess it was bound to happen after last year's World Series run. I'll still play 162 games despite the extremely poor start.Aaron

That's crazy man. Sounds like you're hitting a bit of a rough patch dead in the middle of the season. Keep on pushing through, and hopefully your play will turn around. Adding Jed Lowrie could be big for you.My struggles continue. Stanton hit two bombs to lead the Marlins to a 7-4 win over the Braves. That's four losses in a row and five of six. Are you using the Rockies? What's your pitching rotation look like? I'm getting ready to start up another Franchise with them, using Scott's V2 roster file.I've finished out April with a staggering 4 wins, talk about struggling. I've had everything bad happen; starters getting bombarded, bullpen collapses, injuries, cold spells with the bats.

I'm currently 6-10 with the Mets (using the Scott V2 roster) and just finished up a split of a four-game series with the Giants. My record on the road is 1-5, although that one win was 14-2 over Atlanta.
David Wright and Ike Davis have been tearing the cover off the ball. Unfortunately, they are the only 2 guys hitting consistently. Pitching has been spotty. R.A. Dickey has the best ERA, despite his 0-3 record. Santana did work into the 8th inning my last game against S.F., but his ERA is still around 5.00.Currently Playing:

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
Guthrie, Nicasio, Friedrich, Oswalt (felt it was realistic as there was interest and the contract was realistic), Kazmir. Not in that order and also if someone isnt ready, I'll use Moscoso to spot start. Otherwise he's my long relief along with Esmil Rogers.
I put Chatwood on waivers because he was giving up hits more than anyone else, he ended up being claimed by Minnesota. Chacin wasnt consistent so I moved him down to AAA, waiting for Pomeranz to do better since LH/RH are averaging around .300 against him.
I'm using Arenado at 3rd which has gone better than I expected. Cuddyer has been nonexistent for me at this point so I've tried getting better match-ups for him. I've been using Giambi and Helton at an even 50-50 split but its slowly going to Giambi as Helton is on a really big slump of sub-.200. I'm also trying to find more time for Eric Young JR since he's my only player to consistently steal bases. I also signed Orlando Cabrera for my utility infielder since I have never seen anything worthwhile from Chris Nelson.
The contracts I've signed have been out of pure necessity really and kept them to realistic numbers. If they wanted some high numbers I just pass. And with the 2012 Rockies for me, things needed to be tweaked or it'll just get worseAaron

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
I believe I'm around 22-29 in my Cubs franchise... On the trade thread I shared a trade I made and found out people thought it was pretty unfair in my favor... I gave up Jeff Samardizja, Darwin Barney, Shawn Camp, Tony Campana, and David DeJesus... The players I received back have struggled so far... Nyjer Morgan has played great defense but is hitting below .250... Rickie Weeks has struggled hitting also... Francisco Liriano was sent to the minors after starting 0-5... And Javier Lopez has an ERA around 8.. Somehow LeHair is hitting around .380 and is second in NL all star voting behind Matt Kemp... Soriano is top 5 in NL homers...Madden 25 - Steelers

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
Simming through everything and decided to continue the franchise I stopped using back in May.
Don't think my team will ever not be good lol. Cause with trade logic, I can just trade some random 36 year old player for a 24 year old A potential guy lolComment

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
Yup, but that's what I love about this game - the ebb and flow. Just when I think I'm getting too good, the game smacks me back to reality.
Pastornicky had been on fire for me, so I thought about just rolling with him. But I also wanted to make a move to shake things up, and SS was the most logical position. Excited to play tonight to see how Lowrie does for me.Comment

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
what is up guys and gals? I am about to start my franchise mode over, due to the fact my original PS3 received the RYLOD. I could not revive the system with the take apart system method. I found a 160GB system, an open box item in the Atlanta area for $200. I will be back into the Show by this evening.
I hate starting over. I did a lot of modifying to players, from identifying stances and pitching motions by watching MLB.com videos. Hell maybe I will do better this time around, maybe instead of 17-40 thru 57 games. Instead maybe I can be 40-17. Only if I can figure out how to transfer the data from my 60GB hard drive.Comment

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread
When I was using Pastornicky during my Braves franchise. He was hitting pretty well in the number 8 spot of the lineup. I would just swing at the first fstball I saw. His stats through 40ish games .270 2Hr 8RBI, but he was a liability in the field 8 errors @SS.Yup, but that's what I love about this game - the ebb and flow.
