    New York vs Texas

In Game 2, it was once again a pitcher who stole the show and delivered a performance for the ages.

Hiroki Kuroda became only the 3rd player (and 2nd Yankee) in the history of baseball that posted a no-hitter in the postseason, after Don Larsen (NYY, 1956, Perfect Game) and Roy Halladay (PHI, 2010) achieved the feat before him.

Kuroda took a Perfect Game into the 8th inning, when a Derek Jeter throwing error after a routine ground ball by Adrian Beltre cost him his bid for perfection.

Kuroda did not falter, however, to continue dominating the Rangers, giving up a walk in the 9th inning before sealing his historic achievement when Michael Young grounded out to Derek Jeter, the latter making good on his mistake that cost Kuroda his Perfect Game.

New York took Game 2 with a convincing 5-0 win and are in the driver's seat to win the ALCS and advance to the World Series.

Game 3 will take place tonight.

Shifting the stage from Yankee Stadium to Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Game 3 of the 2012 ALCS once again became a pure pitcher's duel, as neither the Yankees nor the Rangers could show off their power-hitting lineups, as Yankees pitcher Michael Pineda battled Rangers right-hander Colby Lewis.

The game did start off promising, as the Yankees got some hits off Lewis in the top of the 3rd inning and Brett Gardner singled home Eric Chavez and Robinson Cano in turn lined one to right field to single home Gardner.

In the bottom of the 4th inning, Michael Pineda ran into some trouble, as Michael Young and Josh Hamilton got some good hits and with runners on first and third Mike Napoli hit a sac fly to centerfield to get Michael Young home.

It was not enough for the Rangers however, as the Yankees #3 pitcher shut down the Rangers from then on, not allowing any more runs.

Mariano Rivera worked a perfect 9th to get his first save of the postseason and lock up the win for the Yankees, 2-1.

With a potentially series-ending Game 4, the Rangers needed their power hitters to finally deliver.

And they did not wait long. Adrian Beltre crushed a solo homer to deep centerfield to give the Rangers the lead, as the Yankees struggled to get anything going on offense.

Pitching took the overhand early, as Ivan Nova and Matt Harrison once again battled it out in a pitcher's duel.

In the bottom of the 4th, the Yankees had still not broken the hit column, Mark Teixeira homered to left to tie the game at 1-1.

But still, the Yankees struggled. They were only able to get three hits off of Matt Harrison while a Nelson Cruz single drove in pinch-runner Julio Borbon in the bottom of the 8th to make it 2-1 Rangers.

Joe Nathan shut down the Yankees in the 9th and gave the Rangers their much sought-after first win of the ALCS.

In Game 5, Yankees ace C.C. Sabathia will be starting and hopes to give his team 6 to 7 solid innings. In any case, the Yankees offense has to step up big-time and put behind their 3-hit night from Game 4 to make it to the World Series.

      Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

I am going with the Blue Jays. In the spring I traded Eric Thames for Manny Ramirez and revoked his 50-game suspension. I also traded Yunel Escobar to the Cardinals for Furcal.

I am currently trying to deal some of my prospects (probably one of the Cs, one of the CFs and one of the pitchers for an uber ace).

I opened up in Cleveland and lost the first game 2-1, and the second game 6-5. It was awesome I had only 5 singles off the left field wall in the second game.

It can make the game old, if you cant pick a team to stick with in franchise. If your bored its better to sim the rest of ur season, and just see what the offseason offers you. My point is stick with a team no matter what, it takes LOTS of time to restart, not worth it.
I used to always just play with my favorite team, the Nationals, but now they dont really "need" rebuilding....for some idiotic reason I keep wanting to "rebuild" a team, I say its idiotic though because Im so impatient, I dont want to have to wait to rebuild, I just want to do it! haha

28-16 so far with the Padres. My minor league system has been hit with major Catching injuries. I've had to release other players in order to sign 3 catchers since they keep getting hurt.

Struggling with Alonso and Guzman. Quentin was leading the MLB in HR with 10 early on but he got injured and is out 3-4 weeks.

Wieland is 7-2 with a 2.56 ERA in AAA. I'm calling him up for a spot start and plan on splitting a game with him and Stauffer (his scheduled start) since my Bullpen is getting real tired after 2 long extra inning games.

Holy crap at the amount of young stud pitching prospects in your farm system.

Does the CPU just draft based on overall rating and not potential because I don't see how you end up with so many guys.

Fantasy draft is easily manipulated because of the way the AI drafts. Rounds 23 through 29-30 the AI only drafts pitchers and take A's on down. You can get your bench players really late in the draft and a few role players so people that know will start drafting their A minors players a few rounds earlier and grab as many as they can after the pitchers the AI goes for position. AI won't touch anyone over 36-37 yo until late so you can pick up a ton of good old talent at the end and get all their replacements before the AI goes after them.

                Bengerman's Phillies Franchise

                Team Record: 50-47

                Division Standings:
                1. Marlins (57-40)
                2. Nationals (55-41)
                3. Phillies (50-47)
                4. Braves (42-54)
                5. Mets (39-57)

                Division Leaders:
                NLC: Cardinals (60-36)
                NLW: Giants (50-46)
                NL Wild Card: Nationals (55-41)
                NL Wild Card: Cubs (52-44)

                ALE: Yankees (56-40)
                ALC: Tigers (59-38)
                ALW: Rangers (59-39)
AL Wild Card: Red Sox (55-41)
AL Wild Card: Blue Jays (50-44)

                Team Notes:
                • My offense is still putrid, but my starters continue to eat innings and win me low scoring games. I'm 7-3 in my last 10.
                • Utley is back from Injury, but I'm going to give him some time to rehab.
                • I traded Jimmy Rollins for Will Middlebrook. This caught some good discussion over in the Trade thread, but I think ultimately it was the right move. With Utley coming back and Galvis hitting and fielding well, I didn't feel like I was losing a whole lot.
                • Another reason I went through with the trade is that this team is old. Everyone who follows baseball knows most of the Phillies not name Hamels, Pence, or Victorino are on the back end of their careers. Polanco has lost all extra base hit power, and he will probably be done after this season or next. Middlebrook seems to just "fit" with everything right now.
                • A third reason I went through with the trade, is it gives me room to sign Hamels in the offseason, who I really didn't want to let go of.
                • I'm thinking a Dominic Brown call up is in order soon. JMJ isn't hitting very well (.223, 14 HR's, 43 RBIs), but I'm not sure I can subtract his fielding and power from the lineup right now.
                • Schneider has really stepped up in Chooches absence. He leads the team in Batting Average (.318) and in OBP (.384). An incredible year for him so far.
                • Having Howard's power back has certainly helped. He has 9 homers since his return, and 28 RBI's.
                • Lee (2.47), Halladay (2.82), Hamels (2.92) and Worley (2.93) all have ERA's under 3.00. How insane is that?

                Lineup (LHP/RHP):

                Victorino
                Polanco
                Pence
                Howard
                Mayberry Jr/Utley
                Utley/Mayberry Jr
                Galvis

I am running with the White Sox. I am 7-16 to start May and 7 games out of 1st sitting in last in the division.

I was really hoping to have a video of Paul Konerko's 400th homerun, but he is sitting on 399 after only hitting 3 in the month of April.

Picked up Bill Hall of of waivers and traded Alex Rios to Seattle for (SS) Carlos Triunfel. My pen was super taxed so I am going with 3 bench players (Hall, Flowers & Lillibridge) so I can have another arm in the pen. All 3 of those guys can play many positions so everyone should see plenty of time early on. When I don't need an arm I will pull Jordan Danks up. I like Fukudome more than Rios and Rios got me more in the trade and if I could have I might have just sent Rios down to the minors until I needed another OF'er again. It was wierd, Traded him during my series with Seattle. 1st game he goes 0-4 with me next game he goes 0-4 for Seattle and I think he ended up getting 1 hit late in the 3rd game. They can have his ***!

Oakland takes 2 out of 3 from the royals winning game one in a blow out 11-2 thanks to Jim thome's 2 2-run homers and solo shots by ibanez kipnis and harper. game 2 is the one loss that the A's have accumulated, snapping the 5 game win streak to start the season, losing 2-0 and just not able to get anything together, matt kemp went 1-3 with a BB and Yu Darvish picked up the loss (im looking in to trading him). game three, the rubber match. Rookie sensation Matt Harvey vs. KING Felix Hernandez. the king was shutting us down, perfect through 4 until raul hit a line drive single up the middle, and then Jim Thome unloaded on one into deeeep right center to give us a 2-0 lead, mark trumbo added a solo shot in the 7th to knock the king out of his court, and the A's went on to win 3-0 but matt kemp has hit a massive cold streak going 0-4 today and 1-7 in his past two games. next up we get seattle on the road and are now tied for the best record in baseball at 6-1 with the Cardinals(possible world series match up?)

Restarted my Braves dynasty after the patch. Swept the Mets to start the season, winning 5-3, 2-0 and 10-5. But it looks like the NL East is going to be tough this year. The Marlins are 4-0 and I'm tied with the Phillies and Nats for second at 3-0.

Mariners took two of three from the White Sox, who are the worst team in baseball at this point in the game. The final game was a complete game shut out by Iwakuma at PNC Park, because I can't stand US Cellular Field.

Now, the Mariners will do battle with the Angels, and game one promises to be a good one. Felix Hernandez verse Jered Weaver, round two. In the first match, Weaver got the best of Hernandez, but things could, and hopefully will be, a bit different.

Just finished up a three game set Braves(me) vs. Brewers. Let's just say this I got brewed by the Brew Crew. Game 1: 5-2 (L) Game 2: 5-3 (L) Game 3: 7-3(L). I got swept. The Brewers offense is no joke. Batting 2-5 Weeks,Braun, Hardy & Ramierez. It was a funny series my starters gave up the runs. My bullpen was & has been stellar. They gave me an opportunity to win. I thought by holding Braun 3-10, HR,RBI would be enough to get a win or two. I look forward to playing them again in Milwaukee.

On to the next series @ The Ted. Mets vs. Braves. Game 1 Minor vs. Pelfrey, Game 2 Hudson vs. Santana, Game 3 Hanson vs. Dickey

After sweeping the Mets, the Braves came back to Earth against the Astros. Took the first game 7-0, but then lost 7-6 and 6-3. Moylan took the L in both games. Chipper's been unreal so far, batting .652 with 2 homers, 2 triples and 6 RBIs.
