Same here, buying just for a roster update. But, we do have some changes that make it more interesting this year. I am really anxious to try out pulse pitching, and I've read pitch speed will be slower, which for me is a good thing. There are more changes that may appeal to others, such as Diamond Dynasty, etc.

I can't think of a better way to spend $65,
in fact, I also bought the Vita solely for The Show.Comment

Re: Is there enough improvements in MLB 12 to justify a purchase
I think it's worth the purchase, there's a LOT of new things dude besides the ball physics and stats over lays.
Hell I can list a few right now
- MORE animations
- NEW game mode
- NEW commentary (though we won't hear ALL 'till the last quarter of the year like I always have)
- BETTER online from what I heard
- NEW batting stances including follow throughs
Pretty much the only thing I see in this game that we saw last year was pretty much the commentary apart from some new ones. It's definitely worth a purchase dude, as well as every other year because these guys don't do a Copy & Paste and rename it to "12,13,14,15 The Show" they add many new things."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." - Rogers Hornsby
TEAMS:
Baseball: Red Sox
Basketball: Celtics, Duke, U Richmond
Football: Duke, U Richmond (FCS)Comment

Re: Is there enough improvements in MLB 12 to justify a purchase
No offense, but this is a huge exaggeration. The game is basically the same. That doesn't mean it's bad, but adding ball physics (which was already there to some extent), adding player animations (which they do every single year), and a new game mode that lets you create a team with mostly fake players, playing in some other team's stadium, with no franchise options are not really significant improvements. If they offered an add-in with all of that stuff you mentioned for $60.00 to add to last year's versions, many people would NOT have paid it who will buy it this year, including me....Is it worth the money? Probably not. Will most of us do it? Yes...because we can't help it.
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE The Show and I bought a PS3 for it 2 years ago, but honestly I don't really see enough done to warrant a purchase this year from me. The ball physics aren't really that big of a deal to me honestly. When I played the game at Best Buy I felt underwhelmed especially when I heard the same commentary. I felt like I was playing MLB 11 again. I'm not downing on SCEA or their game at all, but I don't believe the improvements were enough to justify a $60 purchase.Comment

Re: Is there enough improvements in MLB 12 to justify a purchase
The lighting alone will make you want this version, everything pops, the overlays the shadows that creep in it is all jaw dropping.
The pitching deliveries the animations the ball physics this game should not be missed by any baseball fan that is for sure.
I paid well over 60 for this game and dont regret it, my hands are starting to hurt from playing too much, but the game is a must for anyone who has had the previous.Comment

Re: Is there enough improvements in MLB 12 to justify a purchase
Yea I guess you have to be a little on the hardcore side to appreciate some of the changes, especially the under the hood stuff. A lot of the casual guys don't really notice that stuff, so it does feel more of the same game.
Baseball is baseball, so it will always feel "the same" in that sense, lol. To me, once I play the new version, playing the previous one doesn't give me the same satisfaction and you start noticing the improvements.Comment

Also, unlike you, I don't try to speak for everyone, but I can speak for myself when I say, everytime I spend $60 on The Show - which is every year - I get more than my money's worth.Comment

Re: Is there enough improvements in MLB 12 to justify a purchase
If you think about it as you can have a cheap night out, going to a bar or out to eat. Or you can get a game that can last you up to a year.
Its pretty much a no brainer, and better for your kidneysComment

Re: Is there enough improvements in MLB 12 to justify a purchase
The point is that while I have both systems, I only have the cash to spend on one game this year. After playing both, it's a tough decision for me because I see improvements done in 2k12 while I don't see many in MLB 12 The Show.
Yes the graphics are amazing in The Show. The animations. The little things. The game is amazing, but there are in fact issues with the game. I won't even go into about the commentary which has been the same for 2 years, and it's not even that great to begin with.
It's going to take alot more than just ball physics, lighting and some new animations to warrant a purchase from me this year.
This isn't a comparison, but the commentary in 2k12 alone is utterly jaw dropping. It even beats NBA 2k commentary which was the leader.
I understand the reasoning behind VITA, but to let The Show improvements take a back seat this year is mind boggling.Comment

Yea I love the commentary for me. Adds to the immersion. I'm more of a sim guy anyways. =)Comment

Re: Is there enough improvements in MLB 12 to justify a purchase
I think its pretty sim, if you have no commentary and imagine you are on the field all you hear are the stadium sounds and stadium announcer and the walkup music.
But thats just me, good luck whatever you decide i had to take a break my hand hurts from playing too much lolComment
