The RP thing has a lot to do with team wants. They give up way too much to fill the need. I have offered the worst pitcher in the yanks system and was able to get worley Pierre and someone else. I think it has to be a bug.

It's unfortunate but also unrealistic to expect human-like logic within video games in the forseeable future. With that said, I wish that the logic in place today actually worked to the best of its ability.

I understand that the CPU doesn't see Ryan Howard as his human equivalent, but rather, as a player with high attributes and stats. It's when the CPU KNOWS that Ryan Howard has high attribute levels, and yet, still trades him away for C level prospects.

My problem is that I saw more wonky CPU-to-CPU trades in The Show 11 (like the one above) than I did realistic & justifiable trades. Too bad because it sounds like The Show 12 has the same issues.

Year one Jays put up Jose Bautista on the block and now 2 weeks into years two Bautista is still on the block.
The biggest name I saw traded was A. Chapman traded to Det.

Yeah, I mean its a game, they dont give it away for free. But its pretty cheap and well worth it. Trust me if you are into managing every aspect of a team than you will love OOTP. Its amazing.

If correct contracts do fix a lot of issues, that could be the solution. I'm assuming that from the main menu there is no process of releasing and re-signing that would create realistic and different length contract is there? if not, maybe once OSFM rosters come out(and maybe a patch) then someone could create a 30 team franchise file, and go through and release player by player and try and sign them to a contract similar their real life contracts. It would a be a long process, but if you did it just a few players at a time it probably wouldn't take as long as you might think.....just a thought. Or would there be some issues with assigning your profiles to the teams in the franchise. i know some people on here make franchise files, but they just fix lineups and stuff right?

In my opinion Rp and C(when there is an injury) are valued too high. Trades are pretty subjective though but there are some head scratchers. Big names are not traded very frequently.

How do you check each teams strategy?

30 team control go to team strategy....it is on near roster foundation I believe.

Well, this was fun. Guess it's 30 team control yet again.
I'm up here at my cousin's house , and brought the show w/me, so I just did a Royals franchise to spoof with. I signed Edwin Jackson and Roy Oswalt about a week in, moved Chen to the bullpen, and then made a couple trades to the Tigers

I sent Hocheavar for Don Kelly (I love DK on my bench), and Porcello. I thought that was relatively close to fair, as Hocheavar is probably more "touted" ...

Hm, 30 team control it is again I guess... IF I get the game. So what's the deal with the contracts everyone's talking about?

I just traded a B level 2B prospect and C level RP prospect to the Pirates for Andrew McCutchen. This after the Pirates refused my offer of an A level SP (Dellin Betances) and Brett Gardner.

The Angels have Albert Pujols and CJ Wilson on the Trading Block.

Methinks the trade logic is completely jacked up.

You're probably right. I would just prefer that the trade logic be tightened up so that the CPU makes believable transactions and doesn't allow me to rip off teams with horrible trades after they refuse good ones.

Re: Trade Logic in The Show 12?

Playing as the Red Sox in the AL......My Franchise is a bit of a bummer, because all the teams I'm chasing have gone bonkers trading.
Some examples - Ethier to the Yankees. David Wright and Michael Bourn on the Angels. Hardy and Morneau to the Tigers. Ichiro and Matt Holliday to the Rangers.

                              It's been pretty ridiculous.
Though maybe the worst was Arizona, who moved an A prospect for Morneau. Only to then trade Morneau to Texas for Moreland and a B prospect. Then I just saw (2 days until the trading deadline) Arizona traded Paul Goldschmidt and some others to pick up Lance Berkman.

If the game used actual contracts maybe this would be less of an issue. Teams are not committed to as much money as they should be, and some of these contracts are easier to move because of it.
And one of my biggest gripes (and I realize this probably would not be easy to program) is that even when some of the trades make sense value wise they don't seem to take performance into account at all.
For instance - The Rangers trading for Hardy. The deal itself was not "bad" value wise.....But at the time Peralta was hitting over .300 and had more Hr's and rbi's than Hardy, so it made little sense to trade for another shortstop.

Oh well.....I just try to keep my team/Franchise realistic. It just stinks every time you look at the transactions and see your rivals are looking more like a fantasy team.

The Pirates didn't want Gardner and Betances because they cost more than the prospects. It's that simple.

Not saying I agree or disagree with their decision, by the way. Just explaining to you that it isn't because the Pirates hate themselves THAT much.

Even if Gardner's contract is minimally more expensive than the prospects, that is enough of a reason for them to refuse it.

Generally, they'll only take on payroll under those circumstances if you offer a Pineda type. The upside has to be enormous for an out of contention PIT to bite into taking on money.
