    Oh I'm not saying he's bad, I like Drew a lot. I just think A potential should be a more exclusive club than it was in the original OSFM, and Drew is just outside that club, I'd say mid to high B with him, but not A.

      i'd agree..i'd have no issues if he was moved down to a high-B....then maybe i can accept dealing Smyly for Ichiro if i were the Tigers

          But at the same time, I probably wouldn't want Ichiro. Nick Castellanos is moving to the outfield (at least that's what the rumblings have been.) And with that move happening, I'd be ok with sticking out with an OF of Jackson, Boesch, Dirks/Berry for this and next year...because I wouldn't have to give up anything to add Nick's bat to our lineup in the future. Plus that OF we have isn't bad.

          And I'd be giving up Smyly, knowing full well that Ichiro will be gone in a year or two and replaced with a guy we already have in house.
          Moving Castellanos to the OF would be a terrible decision, you'd be losing a ton of value in him

            Could've sworn that Castellanos was moving to 2B.... It'd maximize his value. Great player, scarce position. Anyways, that's a different topic.

              Earlier this week, we learned that 3B prospect Nick Castellanos shagging fly balls before games for AA Erie in preparation for a move to the outfield. While the length of this stay in the outfield was to be determined by a number of factors that we've discussed ad nauseum here at BYB, there was little doubt that Castellanos' bat was going to force a position change sooner rather than later.
              That change is here, according to Jon Paul Morosi.
              @jonmorosi
              Nick Castellanos starting in RF at Erie tonight. Like I said Sunday, no chance #Tigers will rush him. Nope. No chance. They NEVER do that.

              With the wild success of young guns Bryce Harper and Mike Trout this season, I've officially pulled a 180 on whether I want to see Castellanos in the big leagues this season. Bring him up and see how he does. It would be very difficult for his defense to be any worse than the charades we've seen from Delmon Young and Brennan Boesch in the corner outfield slots, and I see no reason why the organization shouldn't challenge a guy who is hitting .335/.386/.471 this season between A+ and AA as a 20 year old.
              I wasn't making that up lol. And I think it wouldn't minimize his value, not to us at least. Who cares how much he's worth to other teams? If the Tigers are keeping him, may as well put him somewhere we need him which is either a corner OF spot or 2nd (since Cabby and Prince have 1B/3B set in stone for awhile.) and I don't think he could make the move to 2nd as easily as a move to a corner OF spot.

                No you don't understand moving him away from 3rd takes away from his defensive value, and I don't think Miggy is a cornerstone at 3rd, his defense is the worst in baseball at that position. Castellanos provides you a solid defensive 3rd baseman along with his bat. Moving him to a corner outfield spot is going to decrease that value

                  That doesn't maximize his vlue when your losing defensive value

                      It's ok if we talk baseball in this thread, I'm pretty sure NFG doesn't care it's not like we were off track or anything

                        as long there's a thought or concept of a trade, it's fine

                          Ah, but mods might care.

                          Loophole; We're discussing about his value at certain positions, so that's a conceptual trade. Upon reconsideration, we're fine.

                          I'd like him better at 2B, but OF wouldn't be the end of the world. It'd just suck for his value. Outfield prospects are a dime a dozen. There's pretty much no highly touted 2B prospects; Jean Segura? Scooter Gennett?

                            According to BA's preseason top 100, the first 2B to pop up on the rankings was Cory Spangenberg at 78 followed up by Kolten Wong at 93...Segura was listed as a SS and Gennett didnt make the cut
