I also swung a 3 team deal for Brandon Belt to play 1B/RF/DH, but obviously had to give up more for him. I really do enjoy batting with Belt, though.
What'd it take for Belt? And what'd you do with Smoak if you didnt trade him? And how much would Billy Butler cost?

            I think a B and a C for Butler.

              Texas has enough outfield depth.

              DeJesus isn't worth a B.

Byrd is barely worth a C, Wood is retired. Nimmo? No...
Dempster was doing really well and the A's were in contention and in real life, the price for Dempster would be about two B's. DeJesus was packaged with a low B potential SP, Johnson is a solid OF that is worth a C pot player. The Nimmo trade wasn't fair but I wanted Nimmo.

Dempster is old and in a contract year, you rarely see prospect + veteran for prospect, Johnson is old and probably not worth a C, and at least you're admitting you completely ripped them off.

I ended up doing a 3 team trade with the Tigers. I'm sure it would get blasted here, but I sent Ichiro (having an All-Star Season), League, Sherrill, and Victor Sanchez (B Pot) to the Tigers. Then Smyly, Dirk(s?), Raburn, and a B Pot. SS to the Giants.

League was having a good season and Sherrill was having a great season, the Tigers were in contention and really needed help in the OF and bullpen. The Giants were a bit out of it, so they got an A Pot. SP, B Pot. OF, B Pot. SS, and Raburn to be a stopgap at 2B. Realistic? Not really, but I was only aiming for fair.

Smoak plays 1B/DH and Belt plays RF/1B/DH. It's working out well so far.

Relievers are worthless, but Ichiro playing like Ichiro and a B for Smyly, Dirks, Raburn and a B is fine. Granted, the Giants don't need another SS prospect, what with Panik.

it basically boils down to Ichiro for Smyly....even with Ichiro having an all-star season, i don't think he's worth an A at this point in his career

For the Tigers, he is. They could use that contact bat.

ehhh i'd go with a couple of high-B's instead myself..an A is a lot to give up for a late 30's contact hitter imo

Smyly shouldn't be an A to begin with...but I guess that's not the point of this conversation haha. IRL if I needed him/wanted him, I'd give up Drew to get Ichiro back (but that's knowing full well that we have Crosby, Oliver, Turner in the system to take his rotation spot.)

But at the same time, I probably wouldn't want Ichiro. Nick Castellanos is moving to the outfield (at least that's what the rumblings have been.) And with that move happening, I'd be ok with sticking out with an OF of Jackson, Boesch, Dirks/Berry for this and next year...because I wouldn't have to give up anything to add Nick's bat to our lineup in the future. Plus that OF we have isn't bad.

And I'd be giving up Smyly, knowing full well that Ichiro will be gone in a year or two and replaced with a guy we already have in house.

ur correct about Demp...however the A's wouldn't include their 2011 1st-rd pick (Gray) for him

just by going on pure stats IRL, i'd have to agree he's not an A but watching him pitch a few times, not bad at all...if u land Ichiro, AND plan on keeping him for future years then i can MAYBE see where ur comin from but for a rental, no A
