    Re: Timing Hitting Help

I saw in a previous post that it seems whenever you hit a hard liner it is always right at someone. I see this more often than not and was curious if any of you guys see this as well?

I'm also seeing this more often than not, this is making the game very frustrating. I will not play this game until a patch is released to fix this issue. I thought one of the things SCEA was touting was the hit varieties and ball physics. lol

I have not had that issue. Yes I've some at players but just as many over their heads, in the gaps etc..
If there is an issue I'm lucky so far to not have it.
And the ball physics ARE great. To even question that is rediculous.

Yes, this is basically the issue that I'm having. If I hit it hard, it's directly at a fielder. Also I'm not seeing a lot of hit variety.

Tonight I played with the sliders and got slightly better results. As others have mentioned, the sliders seem to be the key this year in regards to realism with timing hitting.

Bro, try out Zone hitting. It adds so much to the offensive side of the game, when you turn on an inside pitch and crack it into the left field stands... You will feel so much better than just pressing X when the ball arrives. Locating the pitch and understanding timing is difficult yet so rewarding. Try it out man, lower the pitch speed at first if you need some practice seeing where *balls are landing* lol... Good luck bro...

What do yall mean no variety? I'm getting hits over the OFs heads, curvers down the lines, drops in front of fielders its great!

And idk about not making the cpu pitchers labor, i've had plenty of games where the starter was gone after the 5th while winning the game because I made him throw 100+ already. One thing I do to help this is I will not swing with a pitcher until 2 strikes and maybe not even then, especially if i'm losing idc if he strikes out the opposing pitcher needs to labor. Even drawn a good lil bit of walks with the pitchers.

That's basically what you're going to have to do. Just play a few games, and usually something will stick out and not feel right, so then make adjustments.

Last year I was able to get very close to real life results after adjusting sliders. Looks like this year will be the same.

I meant specifically bases on balls. MLB average is three per game, per team, and in this game it's difficult to approach that. Yeah, you can still get walks, just not quite a realistic number of them.

Pretty much, except replace All-Star with any difficulty and it's still true.

Has anyone actually hit a bloop single in this game? I'm 30, almost 40 games in and haven't gotten one, the only ones that even come close hang up in the air an extra several seconds and get caught easily.

"Just hitting X" actually uses more player ratings than zone and the player hot/cold streaks are more of an issue to deal with as a manager. Lot of people including myslef like that better than "stick skilz" mattering.
I know what you're saying though and if a person wants to be in more control that is cool.
I just hate when people downplay the methods people use that let player ratings matter more.

It's resulting in some cheap HRs, and feels easy, but it's not that over the top. I think there's definitely a balance point to be had on all star difficulty, and it's just a matter of finding it.
Cool, if u have the time/will give a try on this(im getting excelent results):

human contact: -5 (all the way to the left, dont worry about this, its counter balanced by AI pitching control)
                        human power: +1
                        human timing: +5
                        human solid hits: +5

                        AI pitching control: -5
                        AI Pitching cosistency: -3

                        Fielder speed: -4
                        Fielder reaction: -1
                        Arm strenght: -4

I aways use contact swing( O button) with 2 strikes on me.

Give it a try and see if u like it, i think i found the perfect balance for what i was looking for: not to many hits and specially my every year problem with the show: NOT TO MANY SINGLES... so far im getting about 7-10 hits per game with 3-4 extra base hits wich is perfect imo.

Don't get me wrong. I think this is the best version of The Show by far. It's just that the hitting is frustrating me and I'd really like to get it figured out. If I can start hitting the ball and getting some realistic results I'd be glued to my PS3.

Tonight was really the last straw. I was no-hit twice... In those no hitters I struck out 0 times... I'm at a loss here. This came with the sliders in my favor. Anyway, I want to thank you guys for trying to be helpful. Most forums would have flamed me and told me I suck at the game.

I'm really digging these sliders. I tried using TNK's realism sliders but have found that they don't work so well with timing. I had a pretty decent game this morning using these. I actually almost drew some walks, lol. That's pretty good for me.
